Your supply and treatment goal matter more than a suburb average. This guide narrows options; final suitability depends on the actual property and water testing.
There's a water sample in our records from Regents Park (2025, mains water). That's a different property, not a test of your Forestdale supply. We'd want to know where your water comes from and what you're trying to treat before using any readings to choose a filter.
If the filter will be outdoors at your Forestdale property, we'll check whether the housing, mounting and pipework are suitable for that spot. Weather protection, water pressure, isolation valves and space for cartridge changes all need to be considered.
Measurements relate to the named properties and stages only. They do not establish an average or prove water is safe to drink.
Looking at water filtration for your Forestdale home? We install whole-home filters, kitchen drinking-water systems and reverse osmosis. See some of our recent work around Logan, along with feedback from JR customers.
These numbers count installation jobs. Some homes had more than one filter fitted.
We've completed 28 water filter installations around Logan. You can see some of our nearby work below.
Before choosing a system, we'll look at where your water comes from, the pipework, water pressure and how much flow your household needs. Rainwater and bore supplies can need extra testing and treatment, especially for drinking. See what customers say about JR.
Here's where we've worked and what each job involved.
We fitted the customer's own whole-home filter for a Browns Plains customer in June 2026. This was a whole-home filter installation in Browns Plains. The technician notes confirm the unit was installed but do not identify a separate commissioning test.
Our February 2025 job in Hillcrest was to fit a WFW filter and DAB water-pressure booster. The site had a pump-assisted setup. The job covered a DAB water-pressure booster and a WFW enclosed filter arrangement, rather than an ordinary single kitchen filter. That was the completed filtration work for this visit.
Fast and effecient. I Shopped around a little and JR Gas and Water provided the best quote and completed the job on the day no fuss. Would def reccomend. great work guys!
Sean , Josh, Lochie & Brendan are all a credit to the company.
Quick reponse for quote request, questions, confirming .... everything.

A Heritage Park customer booked us in August 2023 for a Puretec G6 whole-home filter. This Heritage Park job included a whole-house filter and reverse-osmosis filtration for the kitchen. The notes list a G6 system alongside an RO270 and tapware, so the work covered more than one filtration point. We completed the installation of the filter.
If you're on acreage in Forestdale, the big question is whether the house uses mains water, a rainwater tank, bore water or a combination. For tank or pump-fed water, we also check pressure, sediment and whether separate treatment is needed for drinking water.
Homes around Forestdale include acreage homes, large family houses, rural-residential properties and bushland-edge blocks. Not every place has the same water source. One home might use mains, while the next uses tank water or a pump. We'd check which supply feeds your taps first.
The best starting point is a simple question: what would you like to change about the water? Then we can look at the source, flow and any testing at your Forestdale home before suggesting equipment.

For whole-home filtration in Forestdale, we'd check how the tank or pump delivers water, peak flow, sediment and where the filter can be mounted. If the supply isn't treated mains water, testing may show that extra stages are needed. We also plan for bypass and cartridge changes.
A kitchen filter is worth discussing if the main goal is drinking and cooking water. Before fitting one, we check the mixer, cold-water supply, cupboard clearance and where the cartridges will come out for replacement.
Reverse osmosis can be useful for a specific drinking-water concern, but it needs the right feed pressure, a drain for reject water and room for the membranes and filter changes. With a tank or pump supply, we may also need pretreatment and extra pressure checks.
If you're using rainwater, bore water or a mix of supplies, we'd want to understand the source and whether drinking-water testing is needed. A carbon cartridge on its own doesn't make untreated water safe. Depending on the results, sediment filtration, UV or another suitable treatment might be needed.
Here are some individual-property test results we have on file for comparison. None of these is a water test from your Forestdale address.
Regents Park (2025; mains water; filtration stage not specified) β pH 7.75; hardness 74 mg/L; TDS 178 mg/L; turbidity 0.02 NTU.
Kingston (2025; mains water; filtration stage not specified) β pH 8.31; hardness 115 mg/L; TDS 290 mg/L; turbidity 0.02 NTU.
New Beith (2025; mains water; pre-filter) β pH 7.67; hardness 51 mg/L; TDS 123.78 mg/L; turbidity 0.02 NTU.
The numbers belong to the properties and treatment stages named above. A post-filter result is treated water, not a reading from the raw supply. We'd test or check the water at your own Forestdale property before making a recommendation; these figures alone don't prove water is safe to drink.
Two homes in the same area can have different water. These results come from individual properties and might not reflect what comes out of your tap. We recommend testing your own supply before deciding on treatment.
For tank- or bore-fed homes, we'd start with the water source and any testing, not a particular model. Whole-home filtration is an option when you want water treated at multiple taps. Under-sink filtration keeps the job to the kitchen, while reverse osmosis is worth discussing for a specific drinking-water need. We can check your actual supply before giving you a firm recommendation.
The best filter depends on where your water comes from. Here's what JR has recorded at some mains-water properties in Logan, and what to look at if your home uses rainwater.
These figures come from 8 mains-water samples JR recorded in 2025. They show the median (middle) reading from those tests. The samples were taken before filtration or had no confirmed filtration stage. They don't represent every home in the area or establish that water is safe to drink.
Hardness and dissolved solids weren't the same at each home. If you're using rainwater, or switch between town water and a tank, each supply needs its own check.
Across the tested properties, hardness ranged from 45 to 145 mg/L, dissolved solids from 104 to 337 mg/L, and turbidity from 0.02 to 0.02 NTU. These are readings from individual properties, not a test of the whole water network.
* Hardness figures use the units recorded in JR's test sheets; check the test method and units before comparing them with a filter specification. These aren't readings from the water supplier's monitoring program. A result of 0.02 NTU doesn't mean there's no turbidity. None of these figures describes rainwater, bore water or a private supply, and the four measurements can't tell you whether chlorine, PFAS, germs or other contaminants are present. They aren't a drinking-water safety test.
Tank water needs its own check. Roof and gutter condition, first-flush setup, animals, tank maintenance, how long the water sits and what you use it for can all make a difference. The mains-water readings above don't apply to rainwater tanks. Treatment needs to suit the water in your tank and how you plan to use it.
Check the roof and gutters, leaf screens, first-flush diverter, tank lid and overflow protection. Keeping dirt and animals out of the tank is just as important as the filter itself.
If you drink or cook with tank water, have the microbial risks assessed and arrange suitable testing. Depending on the property, you may also need to check sediment, acidity, metals, chemicals or an unusual colour or smell.
A sediment filter can help stop particles reaching taps and other equipment. Carbon or other filter media may help with particular problems, but a cartridge filter by itself isn't a substitute for disinfection.
If the water will be used for drinking, check whether a properly sized and maintained UV or another suitable disinfection system is needed. UV relies on clear enough water and a reliable power supply, and it won't remove dissolved chemicals.
Tell us whether you're using town water, rainwater or both, and what you'd like to improve. We can check flow, space and plumbing requirements to help you choose a suitable system.
Answers about water-filter suitability, installation work and water testing for properties in and around Forestdale.
Usually we'd look at the main water entry or the kitchen cold-water line, depending on what you want filtered. At a Forestdale property using tanks or a pump, we'd also check the water source, pressure and whether there's room to service the filters.
Not in Forestdale itself, based on the completed jobs in our current records. We have 28 installations across Logan, including customer-supplied system in Browns Plains. We list that job under its real suburb rather than claiming it happened here.
No. The example we've shown was taken at a property in Regents Park in 2025, not at your Forestdale address. It's useful for context, but we'd check or test your own water before using any readings to choose treatment.
Any nearby water-test readings relate to the sampled property, not every home in the suburb. Filter selection and installation requirements should be confirmed for your actual water source and plumbing.
