Wulfe HP Plus Heat Pump

HP Plus is Wulfe's newer heat-pump platform and is offered in approximately 190L and 330L capacities.

Both models use R290 refrigerant, inverter heat-pump technology, 1.5kW electric backup heating and a control system designed to support daytime solar-PV operation.

Current manufacturer specifications list average heat-pump heating capacity around 3.2kW for the smaller model and 3.3kW for the 330L.

Wulfe HP Classic 250L

HP Classic is Wulfe's established 250L heat-pump model and remains part of its current trade resources.

The W250PW-1 uses R134a refrigerant, a vitreous-enamel coated steel tank and sacrificial-anode corrosion protection.

Current manufacturer specifications list around 495W average heat-pump input, 865W maximum heat-pump input and a 1.5kW auxiliary electric heater.

Its published noise figure is approximately 46dB(A), with heat-pump operation down to about -7°C.

What Size Wulfe Heat Pump Do I Need?

JR sizes stored hot water from actual household use rather than simply choosing the nearest tank capacity to an old system.

Our starting allowances are approximately 40 litres per person per day for light use, 50 litres for average use, 65 litres for high use and around 80 litres for very heavy demand.

Wulfe HP Plus R290 Technology

The current HP Plus range uses R290 natural refrigerant.

The refrigeration circuit absorbs heat from the surrounding air and transfers it into the stored water rather than creating all of the heat directly with electric resistance.

Wulfe combines this with inverter control so compressor output can respond to operating conditions rather than behaving purely as a fixed-output system.

Current HP Plus material promotes four operating modes for different household priorities.

How Loud Is a Wulfe Heat Pump?

Current HP Plus specifications publish approximately 42dB(A) sound pressure at two metres.

HP Classic publishes a higher figure around 46dB(A), although exact test methods should be considered when comparing different products.

Real perceived sound still depends strongly on installation position, wall reflections, fences and proximity to bedrooms or neighbours.

Wulfe Heat Pumps with Solar PV

Wulfe specifically promotes its heat pumps as solar-PV-ready.

The control system can be programmed to heat the tank primarily during daylight hours so more of the home's rooftop-solar generation is consumed onsite rather than exported.

Wulfe describes the storage tank as a form of thermal storage, with the larger HP Plus 330L capable of storing substantial heat energy for use after the sun has gone down.

Wulfe heat pumps use steel storage tanks protected against corrosion rather than stainless-steel cylinder construction.

HP Classic uses a vitreous-enamel coated steel tank with sacrificial-anode protection.

Wulfe promotes the newer HP Plus platform with multiple full-length magnesium anodes to provide greater corrosion protection, particularly in challenging water-quality areas.

Wulfe Heat Pump Electrical Requirements

Current residential Wulfe heat pumps use normal 220–240V single-phase electrical supply.

HP Plus uses a 1.5kW electric heating element alongside the heat pump, while HP Classic's current maximum input/current specification is approximately 2365W / 9.85A.

The exact circuit, connection and isolation requirements should always match the selected product and current installation instructions.

Wulfe Endless Series Gas Hot Water

Wulfe is not exclusively a heat-pump brand. Its Endless Series provides natural-gas continuous-flow hot water for homes wanting on-demand heating rather than a storage tank.

Current Endless models are available at approximately 20L/min and 26L/min with a 25°C water-temperature rise.

Both models carry a current 6.2-star energy rating and use direct ignition without a standing pilot.

Current Wulfe Endless documentation provides 11 temperature set points from approximately 38°C to 75°C.

The factory default is 50°C.

Actual permissible delivery temperatures and installation configuration still need to comply with Australian plumbing requirements, particularly at personal-hygiene outlets.

Replacing Electric Hot Water with Wulfe

Existing electric storage is one of the clearest upgrade pathways for a Wulfe heat pump.

The household retains stored hot water but shifts the main heating duty from direct electric resistance to heat-pump technology.

The new Wulfe does not need to match the old tank litre-for-litre because storage and recovery performance differ between systems.

Eligible approved Wulfe heat pumps can qualify for Small-scale Technology Certificates where the selected model and installation meet current scheme requirements.

Wulfe markets its heat-pump pricing with applicable certificate value already incorporated through its ACTIV8 trade process.

Scheme eligibility and certificate value can change, so the exact current benefit should still be confirmed for the selected installation.

Wulfe Warranty

Wulfe introduced updated warranty terms effective from 5 August 2026.

For the original residential owner-occupier, current Wulfe information lists up to a 10-year product warranty and two years labour, subject to the manufacturer's conditions.

HP Classic 250 is specifically excluded from that 10-year product period and currently carries seven years product warranty plus two years labour for the original residential owner-occupier.

Warranty differs for subsequent owners and commercial installations, and proof of purchase is required.
