Where a customer has a stone benchtop, it cannot be drilled for the installation of a separate filter tap. Drilling into engineered or natural stone surfaces can release fine crystalline silica dust, which poses a significant health risk (silicosis) to installers and anyone nearby, and may also cause cracking or damage to the bench. In these cases, we can provide the option of a 3-way mixer tap that combines hot, cold, and filtered water in one unit, or, if preferred, the filter can be connected to the existing kitchen mixer to filter all cold water — however, this is not recommended as it will also filter dishwashing and cooking water, leading to faster filter clogging and more frequent replacements. A wider selection of suitable 3-way mixer taps can be viewed here: https://www.jrgasandwater.com.au/collections/3-way-kitchen-mixer-tap-hot-cold-filtered.

BRUSHED NICKEL 3-WAY KITCHEN MIXER

Puretec ELITE-10BN Installation Brisbane & Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water supplies and installs the Puretec Tripla ELITE-10BN across eligible Brisbane, Gold Coast and surrounding South East Queensland service areas for kitchens wanting normal hot and cold water plus a dedicated filtered-water supply from one brushed nickel mixer.

The ELITE-10BN is a 3-way kitchen mixer built from 100% stainless steel with a brushed nickel satin PVD outer coating. The larger handle controls normal hot and cold water, while the smaller lever independently operates the dedicated filtered mains-water or appropriately treated-water line.

It can suit kitchen renovations, replacement of an existing mixer and new under-sink filtration installations where filtered drinking water is wanted without adding a separate visible filter tap beside the main kitchen mixer.

Puretec ELITE-10BN at a glance: model ELITE-10BN-LF, brushed nickel satin 3-way mixer, 100% stainless steel construction, PVD outer coating, separate filtered-water control, 5L/min WELS 5 Star flow, 35mm tap hole, ½" and ¼" braided connections, 50–500kPa standalone mixer pressure range, 35mm ceramic cartridge and Puretec's 15-year residential tapware warranty structure.

IMPORTANT DISTINCTION

The ELITE-10BN Is the Mixer — The Filter Treats the Water

The ELITE-10BN provides the kitchen fixture and dedicated filtered-water pathway, but the tap itself is not a water filter.

The filtration system installed beneath the sink determines the actual treatment performance, micron rating, contaminant-reduction claims, filter capacity and replacement schedule.

ELITE-10BN Mixer

Provides normal hot and cold mixer operation plus a separately controlled filtered-water line.

Under-Sink Filter

Performs the actual water treatment before the drinking water reaches the dedicated mixer connection.

One Kitchen Fixture

Combines normal kitchen water and dedicated filtered drinking water without requiring another visible tap.

Filtration claims should always match the actual filter installed beneath the sink. The ELITE-10BN itself should not be assigned a micron rating or contaminant-removal claim.

3-WAY FUNCTION

How Does the Puretec ELITE-10BN Work?

Main Mixer Handle

The larger control operates normal hot and cold water for washing, rinsing, food preparation and general kitchen use.

Filtered-Water Lever

The smaller lever independently operates the separate filtered mains-water or appropriately treated-water line.

Filter Beneath the Sink

A compatible point-of-use filtration system treats the drinking-water supply before it reaches the mixer.

Normal kitchen use does not need to consume the drinking-water cartridge. Standard hot and cold mixer operation remains separate from the dedicated filtered-water control.

MATCHED PURETEC FILTRATION

Filtered & Unfiltered Water Stay Separate With the Z1 Package

Puretec's current matched Z1-E10-BN filter-and-tap package describes hot, cold and filtered mains water being delivered through the single mixer without mixing filtered and unfiltered water.

This allows ordinary kitchen water to remain available for washing and rinsing while the drinking-water filtration system supplies the dedicated filtered-water function.

Normal Mixer Water

Hot and cold water remain available for ordinary kitchen tasks.

Dedicated Filtered Supply

Filtered drinking water is controlled separately through the mixer.

Efficient Filter Use

The drinking-water cartridge is reserved for the dedicated filtered-water supply rather than every use of the kitchen tap.

TRIPLA ELITE CONSTRUCTION

100% Stainless Steel With Brushed Nickel PVD Finish

Puretec's Tripla Elite 10 range combines 3-way mixer functionality with full stainless steel construction and its decorative PVD finish range.

100% Stainless Steel

Puretec specifies full stainless steel construction for the ELITE-10BN.

PVD Outer Coating

Puretec describes the Physical Vapour Deposition coating as providing resistance to abrasion, scratching and corrosion.

Brushed Nickel Satin

The softer metallic finish can coordinate with stainless steel appliances, brushed hardware, sinks and contemporary kitchen palettes.

PVD improves finish durability but does not make decorative tapware damage-proof. Avoid abrasive pads, harsh chemicals and cleaning products that are not suitable for finished tapware.

WHY USE A 3-WAY MIXER?

Hot, Cold & Filtered Water From One Kitchen Tap

Normal hot water remains available through the main mixer control.
Normal cold water remains available for ordinary kitchen use.
Dedicated filtered water is controlled independently using the smaller lever.
One principal fixture can avoid adding a separate filter tap beside the mixer.
5L/min WELS 5 Star flow under Puretec's current ELITE-10BN specification.
35mm ceramic cartridge under the current manufacturer specification.

KITCHEN SUITABILITY

Is the ELITE-10BN Right for Your Kitchen?

The ELITE-10BN can suit homes wanting integrated filtered drinking water together with full stainless steel construction and a brushed nickel finish.

Kitchen Renovations

The brushed nickel satin finish can coordinate with stainless appliances, sinks and softer metallic cabinet hardware.

Existing Mixer Replacement

The current mixer position should be checked against the 35mm mounting-hole requirement and the plumbing available beneath the sink.

New Filtration Setup

The mixer can be paired with a compatible under-sink drinking-water filter, including Puretec's matched Z1 system.

Under-sink space matters. Filter equipment, tubing, valves and enough working room for future cartridge replacement all need to fit within the available cabinetry.

TAP-HOLE REQUIREMENT

Puretec ELITE-10BN Tap Opening

Puretec currently specifies a 35mm diameter tap hole for the ELITE-10BN-LF.

The existing sink or benchtop opening should be checked before installation, particularly where the new mixer is replacing a tap with different mounting dimensions.

Installation note: confirm the supplied mixer and current manufacturer installation dimensions before altering or enlarging any sink or benchtop opening.

STONE BENCHTOPS

A 3-Way Mixer Can Avoid a Separate Filter-Tap Hole

JR's current installation guidance states that it does not drill engineered or natural stone for installation of a separate filter tap because drilling can release fine crystalline silica dust and may also damage or crack the benchtop.

Where the existing principal mixer opening is suitable, a 3-way mixer such as the ELITE-10BN can provide normal hot, normal cold and dedicated filtered water through the one kitchen fixture.

The existing mixer opening still needs to suit the new tap. Puretec currently specifies a 35mm diameter opening for the ELITE-10BN.

FLOW & WATER EFFICIENCY

ELITE-10BN WELS Rating

Puretec currently specifies the ELITE-10BN at 5 litres per minute with a WELS 5 Star rating.

Current manufacturer specification: ELITE-10BN-LF — 5L/min, WELS 5 Star.

This is specific to the Elite 10 Brushed Nickel. Specifications from other Tripla models should not automatically be carried across.

PURETEC Z1 COMPATIBILITY

ELITE-10BN With Puretec Z1 Filtration

Puretec currently offers the Z1-E10-BN-LF, combining the brushed nickel Elite 10 with its Ultra Z under-sink mains-water filtration system.

0.1 Micron Filtration

Puretec specifies a nominal 0.1 micron filtration rating for the Ultra Z technology used in the matched Z1 system.

30,000L Capacity

Puretec currently lists filter capacity up to 30,000 litres under its stated operating conditions.

5L/min Mixer Flow

The complete package retains the Elite 10's 5L/min mixer flow and WELS 5 Star rating.

The 0.1 micron rating and 30,000L capacity belong to the Z1 filtration system, not to the ELITE-10BN mixer itself.

WHAT THE Z1 FILTER DOES

Filtration Performance Comes From the System Below the Sink

Puretec describes its current Z1-E10-BN package as using Ultra Z filtration technology to reduce chlorine, chemicals and sediment while preserving essential minerals.

Mixer Function

The ELITE-10BN controls and dispenses the normal mixer water and dedicated filtered-water stream.

Filter Function

The Z1 cartridge performs the filtration before drinking water reaches the mixer.

Cartridge Maintenance

Replacement cartridges are maintenance items of the filtration system and remain separate from the mixer warranty.

These Z1 treatment claims apply only when that filtration system is installed. Any alternative filter should be described according to its own current manufacturer specification.

FILTERED MAINS OR TREATED RAINWATER

What Can the Dedicated Water Line Supply?

Puretec describes the ELITE-10BN's smaller handle as operating a separate line for filtered rainwater or mains water.

Filtered Mains Water

A compatible point-of-use filter can treat mains water before it reaches the dedicated drinking-water line.

Appropriately Treated Rainwater

The dedicated line may also be supplied by an appropriately designed rainwater filtration and treatment system.

Mixer Is Not Treatment Equipment

The ELITE-10BN itself does not filter, disinfect or determine whether untreated water is suitable for drinking.

Water-source suitability depends on the complete treatment system. The mixer should not be treated as filtration or disinfection equipment.

WATER PRESSURE

Puretec ELITE-10BN Pressure Requirements

Puretec currently specifies a standalone pressure range of 50–500kPa for the ELITE-10BN.

Minimum 50kPa

The current standalone mixer specification begins at 50kPa.

Maximum 500kPa

The mixer should remain within Puretec's stated 500kPa maximum working pressure.

Equal Pressure Required

Puretec specifically states that the ELITE-10BN is not suitable for unequal-pressure installations.

High supply pressure requires appropriate pressure control. Puretec states that pressure limiting valves must be installed where supply pressure exceeds the recommended working pressure or warranty coverage can be affected.

TAP VS COMPLETE FILTER PACKAGE

ELITE-10BN & Z1-E10-BN Pressure Specifications

The standalone mixer and Puretec's complete matched filter package publish different operating ranges.

Standalone ELITE-10BN

Puretec currently specifies 50–500kPa for the mixer itself.

Complete Z1-E10-BN

Puretec currently specifies 200–520kPa for the complete filter-and-tap package.

Installed Combination

The finished installation should satisfy the applicable operating limits of every component, including the mixer's stated 500kPa maximum.

Component specifications are not interchangeable. The filtration system can introduce its own minimum pressure and flow requirements even though the standalone mixer itself can operate at lower pressure.

Home and Plumbing Impacts

🔹 Total Hardness (8 mg/L in rainwater): Extremely soft water, which can be corrosive to pipes, leading to potential metal leaching from plumbing.

🔹 Iron & Manganese (Rainwater: Iron 0.03 mg/L, Manganese 0.009 mg/L): Low but can cause sediment buildup over time if not filtered.

🔹 Copper (2.24 mg/L in rainwater): High levels may indicate corrosion in metal roofing or pipes, leading to health and plumbing concerns.

Should You Use a Water Filtration System?

For both mains and rainwater users, filtration is essential to ensure clean, safe drinking water. Here’s what we recommend:
