Electrical Sub-Contractors

JR Preferred and Recommended Electrical Trades

Some hot water installations require licensed electrical work outside JR Gas & Water's plumbing, gas, or restricted electrical disconnect and reconnect scope. To make this easier, customers can choose our JR Preferred Electrician, our JR Recommended Electrician, or arrange their own licensed electrician.

How JR Electrical Coordination Works

JR Gas & Water completes the plumbing, gas, and hot water installation work included in your JR quote.

When additional licensed electrical work is needed, that electrical work must be completed by a licensed electrician. This may include a new isolator, new power point, circuit extension, new circuit, RCBO, switchboard work, timer, tariff change, temporary connection setup, or electrical fault investigation.

JR can help make the process easier by identifying the likely electrical requirement, adding the relevant electrical scope code to your quote, sharing job information with a JR coordinated electrician, and helping line up the electrical booking with your hot water installation date.

This JR coordination service is free unless a separate coordination fee is clearly listed on your quote.

Option 1 - JR Preferred Electrician

Proficient Electrical

Proficient Electrical is JR Gas & Water's preferred electrical trade for hot water related electrical work.

Proficient Electrical is the first-choice option for customers who want the smoothest coordination with JR's hot water installation process.

Proficient Electrical regularly works with JR Gas & Water and understands our preferred installation process, common hot water system locations, access requirements, isolation requirements, booking expectations, and the technical information normally needed to complete the electrical side of the job.

Why Choose the JR Preferred Electrician?

  • JR can liaise directly with Proficient Electrical about the required hot water installation details.
  • JR can share customer requests, job notes, photos, access notes, booking details, technical information, and electrical scope codes through our CRM platform.
  • JR can help line up the electrical work with the planned hot water installation day.
  • JR can help communicate changes if the installation date needs to move due to stock, weather, access, customer timing, or trade availability.
  • JR can help coordinate temporary electrical connection requirements and setup requirements connected to the hot water installation.
  • Proficient Electrical is familiar with the way JR prefers hot water systems to be positioned and connected.
  • Future electrical support is easier to coordinate when the electrician already understands JR's process and job history.

Future Support Advantage

Choosing Proficient Electrical can make future support easier. If you need a minor electrical repair, isolator check, temporary setup, replacement upgrade, fault investigation, or related electrical work years later, JR can usually liaise more effectively with a preferred trade that understands our hot water installation process.

JR may also arrange one of our own restricted electrical licence holders to assist with work that falls within JR's licence limitations, while Proficient Electrical handles licensed electrical work outside JR's restricted electrical scope.

Option 3 - Arrange Your Own Electrician

Use Your Own Licensed Electrician

You are welcome to arrange your own licensed electrician. This option gives you full control over who completes the electrical work, but it also means all electrical arrangements are handled directly between you and your chosen electrician.

Restrictions When Using Your Own Electrician

  • JR does not provide CRM access to customer-arranged electricians.
  • JR does not share internal job notes, project records, photos, CRM details, access notes, or technical information with customer-arranged electricians.
  • JR does not liaise booking times with customer-arranged electricians unless JR agrees in writing.
  • JR does not manage your electrician's attendance, scope, pricing, invoice, payment terms, compliance, or warranty.
  • Your electrician must complete the required electrical work in time for the JR installation to proceed.
  • Your electrician must confirm their own electrical scope directly with you.
  • If your electrician is unavailable, delayed, or completes the wrong scope, your JR installation may need to be delayed or rescheduled.
  • Any additional costs, delays, return visits, or rescheduling caused by customer-arranged electrical work are the customer's responsibility.

What Electrical Work Might Be Required?

Some hot water installations require additional electrical work before, during, or after the JR installation.

  • Disconnect and reconnect of electrical supply
  • Installation or relocation of an isolator
  • Installation or relocation of a power point
  • Electrical cable extension
  • New circuit installation
  • New 20amp circuit for hot water
  • New dual 20amp circuit for twin element systems
  • New 3 phase 32amp circuit for suitable hot water systems
  • RCBO or switchboard work
  • Timer or tariff-related electrical work
  • Catch Power related electrical work
  • Fault finding or rectification
  • Additional cabling or conduit work
  • Temporary electrical connection setup connected to the installation process

Why JR Uses Electrical Scope Codes

JR may use electrical scope codes to help identify the likely electrical work required for your job. These codes make it easier for customers, electricians, and JR to understand the expected electrical work before the installation begins.

Scope codes can also make pricing easier to compare between the JR Preferred Electrician and the JR Recommended Electrician.

The selected electrician is responsible for confirming the final electrical scope and pricing directly with the customer.

CRM Access for Preferred and Recommended Trades

JR Gas & Water may provide limited access to our CRM platform to JR Preferred and JR Recommended trades only.

This access is provided so the selected trade can view the job information needed to coordinate the electrical work with the JR installation process.

Free JR Booking Liaison

When you select a JR Preferred or JR Recommended Electrician, JR may help liaise the booking and share job information to support the installation process.

This is a free service unless a separate coordination fee is clearly listed on your quote.

JR's booking liaison may include advising the selected electrician of the planned JR installation date, sharing relevant photos or job notes, communicating timing requirements, helping coordinate date changes, and helping reduce confusion around the expected electrical scope.

Invoicing and Payment

Electrical Work Is Invoiced Directly by the Electrician

All electrical invoicing and payment is handled directly between the customer and the selected electrician.

JR Gas & Water does not invoice the customer for the selected electrician's electrical work unless the electrical work is specifically included in writing on the JR Gas & Water quote.

  • The electrician confirms their own pricing.
  • The electrician completes the electrical work.
  • The electrician issues their own invoice.
  • The customer pays the electrician directly.
  • The electrician is responsible for their own payment terms.
  • The electrician is responsible for their own workmanship, electrical compliance, and electrical warranty.

Electrical Pricing Pages

Electrical pricing is set by the electrician, not JR Gas & Water. Pricing pages are provided to help customers understand the current electrical pricing available from each electrician.
