PURETEC UNDERSINK RETROFIT FILTRATION

Puretec Z2-HFR Installation Brisbane & Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water supplies and professionally installs the Puretec Z2-HFR retrofit water-filter kit across eligible Brisbane and Gold Coast properties. It is designed primarily for customers who already have an under-sink or inline filtration arrangement and want to upgrade it to Puretec's compact Z2 quick-change platform.

The Z2-HFR is supplied with connection adaptors and reducers so it can be integrated with compatible existing mixer-tap or dedicated filtered-water-tap arrangements. The filter itself uses Puretec's Z2-R 10-inch cartridge with nominal 1-micron filtration, an 8 L/min maximum flow rate and a published capacity of 38,000 litres under Puretec's specified test basis.

This is a point-of-use filter rather than a whole-house system or reverse-osmosis unit. Its key advantage is retrofit flexibility: the compact filter body can mount vertically or horizontally and is intended to replace many existing under-sink filter arrangements without unnecessarily redesigning the whole kitchen filtration layout.

Puretec Z2-HFR at a glance: this is a compact retrofit under-sink kit using the Z2-R three-level treatment cartridge. Puretec publishes nominal 1-micron filtration, up to 8 L/min flow and 38,000 L capacity based on 2 ppm ±10% inlet chlorine. It can connect to a compatible mixer or dedicated filter tap and can mount horizontally or vertically. The current manufacturer warranty is 1 year parts and labour, excluding the consumable cartridge.

Puretec Z2-HFR Supply & Installation at a Glance

Application Under-Sink Retrofit
Micron Rating 1 Micron Nominal
Maximum Flow 8 L/min
Replacement Z2-R

Who Is the Puretec Z2-HFR Best For?

Existing Filter Replacements

The Z2-HFR is specifically designed to upgrade an existing under-sink or inline filter rather than requiring an entirely new filtration concept.

Existing Mixer Connections

The supplied retrofit hardware can connect the system into compatible cold-water mixer arrangements where the existing filter already feeds the mixer.

Existing Dedicated Filter Taps

The kit also supports compatible ¼-inch tubing connections for kitchens already using a separate filtered-water tap.

PRODUCT SUITABILITY

Is the Puretec Z2-HFR Right for My Kitchen?

A Good Choice If...

  • You already have an under-sink or inline filter.
  • You want to retain a compatible existing mixer or filter tap.
  • You want a compact quick-change cartridge format.
  • You need up to 8 L/min filtered-water flow.
  • You want nominal 1-micron point-of-use filtration.
  • You have limited cabinet space and need flexible mounting orientation.

Consider Another Option If...

  • You do not already have suitable filtered-water plumbing.
  • You want a completely new dedicated filter-tap package.
  • You need reverse-osmosis treatment.
  • You want whole-house filtration at every outlet.
  • You specifically require broad TDS or fluoride reduction.
  • Your desired filtered-water demand exceeds the product's published flow.

JR Should Check First If...

  • Your existing filter connections are unidentified.
  • Your mixer is not designed for filtered-water integration.
  • Your line pressure is above 500 kPa.
  • The cupboard contains drawers, bins or appliances that restrict access.
  • Your source water is microbiologically uncertain.
  • You want to reuse old tubing or fittings in questionable condition.
Retrofit does not mean universal. The Z2-HFR includes several adaptors and connection options, but the existing tap, tubing, isolation and cabinet layout still need to be compatible and serviceable before a straightforward replacement can be assumed.

How Does the Puretec Z2-HFR Work?

The Z2-HFR uses Puretec's Z2-R cartridge and Z Plus filtration technology. Puretec describes the cartridge as providing three treatment functions within one quick-change filter body.

1

1-Micron Particle Filtration

The first treatment function filters sediment, rust, sand, silt, algae and other suspended particles down to a nominal 1 micron.

2

Chlorine, Taste & Odour Treatment

The cartridge provides carbon-based treatment to reduce chlorine and other manufacturer-listed chemicals while improving unwanted taste and odour.

3

Z Plus & Anti-Scale Features

Puretec states that Z Plus technology inhibits bacterial growth within the filtration system and incorporates anti-scaling protection.

Z Plus is not UV disinfection. Puretec describes the technology as inhibiting bacterial growth within the system. It should not be represented as making microbiologically unsafe source water safe to drink or as guaranteed bacterial removal.

What Does the Puretec Z2-HFR Reduce?

Sediment & Particles

Puretec lists sediment, dirt, rust, sand, silt and algae among the particulate matter filtered by the Z2 cartridge down to a nominal 1 micron.

Chlorine & Chemicals

Puretec lists chlorine and other chemicals for reduction within the cartridge's second treatment level.

Taste & Odour

The cartridge is designed to improve unwanted taste and odour associated with the incoming filtered-water supply.

Manufacturer terminology matters: Puretec notes that terms such as removal, elimination and protection indicate significant reduction rather than necessarily 100% removal.

What Does Anti-Scaling Protection Mean?

Puretec states that the Z2 cartridge incorporates anti-scaling protection. This feature is intended to help control mineral build-up within the filtered-water application.

Anti-scale treatment should not be confused with conventional water softening. The Z2-HFR does not use ion-exchange resin, does not regenerate with salt and should not be described as removing hardness minerals in the same way as a dedicated softener.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

What Is Required to Install the Puretec Z2-HFR?

  • Suitable existing under-sink or inline filtration plumbing
  • Accessible cold-water supply
  • Compatible mixer or dedicated filtered-water tap
  • Suitable isolation valve arrangement
  • Enough cabinet space for vertical or horizontal mounting
  • Access for future Z2-R cartridge replacement
  • Sound reusable tubing and fittings where retained
  • Operating pressure within the Puretec range
  • Pressure limiting where line pressure exceeds 500 kPa
  • Cold-water installation only
  • Protection from freezing
  • Suitable leak-management planning where leakage could damage cabinetry
  • Qualified tradesperson installation as specified by Puretec
Existing components should be inspected, not automatically reused. Old tubing, isolation valves, tap connections and fittings can deteriorate over time. A retrofit should retain only components that remain suitable for reliable service.

Vertical or Horizontal Z2-HFR Installation?

Vertical Mount

Puretec publishes an approximate required mounting envelope of 290 mm high × 90 mm wide. This can suit narrow cabinet-wall locations with sufficient vertical space.

Horizontal Mount

The filter can also mount horizontally, with an approximate required envelope of 90 mm high × 290 mm wide. This can be useful beneath shallow sink bowls or where vertical cabinet space is restricted.

The final position should still leave practical access to the cartridge and fittings rather than using every millimetre of the manufacturer's nominal mounting envelope.

What's Included With Puretec Z2-HFR Installation?

Selected JR Retrofit Package

The live product selector above remains the source of truth for current installed pricing, timeframe and package-specific inclusions.

Existing Filter Changeover

For an applicable straightforward retrofit, the redundant filter can be removed and the Z2-HFR connected to suitable existing filtered-water plumbing.

Possible Additional Work

New isolation valves, pressure control, replacement tubing, tap alterations, damaged fittings, relocation or substantial under-sink plumbing changes can require additional scope.

How Much Does Puretec Z2-HFR Installation Cost?

Current supplied-and-installed pricing is displayed in JR's live package selector above. The selector should remain the pricing source rather than embedding a fixed price into long-form product content.

The simplest installation is a straightforward replacement where the existing filtered-water line, isolation and tap arrangement are already compatible. Cost can change where tubing, valves, pressure control, tap plumbing or cabinet positioning needs alteration.

Where the existing installation cannot be confirmed from the standard online package, use JR's written or onsite quote pathway before non-standard work proceeds.

BRISBANE RETROFIT INSTALLATION

Puretec Z2-HFR Installation Brisbane

JR Gas & Water supplies and installs the Puretec Z2-HFR across eligible Brisbane properties for customers replacing an existing under-sink or inline filtration system.

A Brisbane retrofit starts with the existing plumbing rather than assuming every old filter uses the same fittings. JR can assess the cold-water feed, filtered-water outlet, tubing size, available cabinet space and line pressure before connecting the Puretec retrofit components.

The ability to mount the Z2-HFR horizontally or vertically can be particularly useful where bins, sink bowls, waste traps or shelves limit traditional filter placement. Eligible JR service coverage also extends through Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and Redlands.

GOLD COAST RETROFIT INSTALLATION

Puretec Z2-HFR Installation Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water also provides Z2-HFR retrofit installations across eligible Gold Coast properties. It can suit kitchens where an older inline or under-sink filter is already connected and the customer wants to retain the existing outlet while moving to Puretec's supported quick-change platform.

The Gold Coast installation should confirm that existing hoses, tap connections and isolation hardware remain serviceable before they are reused. Where older plumbing is deteriorated, changing those components as part of the retrofit can provide a more reliable installation than connecting a new cartridge system to questionable fittings.

If there is no existing filtered-water setup at all, a complete new-install Puretec system may be more appropriate than selecting the retrofit kit simply because it is compact.

Can the Puretec Z2-HFR Replace My Existing Water Filter?

Existing Inline Filter

This is one of the Z2-HFR's intended applications. Existing connections still need to be inspected and adapted to the supplied Puretec fittings where required.

Existing Under-Sink Housing

Potentially. The old housing can be removed and replaced by the compact quick-change Z2 format where the incoming and filtered-water plumbing are compatible.

Existing Dedicated Filter Tap

The retrofit kit supports ¼-inch tubing arrangements, making it suitable for many existing dedicated filtered-water tap installations.

Existing Filtered-Water Mixer

The supplied connection hardware can suit compatible mixer arrangements, but the exact tap and filtered-water circuit should be checked before installation.

How Often Does the Puretec Z2-HFR Need Servicing?

Puretec specifies replacement of the Z2-R cartridge every 6–12 months, depending on incoming water quality and usage. Cartridge life should not be calculated from the 38,000-litre capacity figure alone.

Water Consumption

Higher daily filtered-water use moves more water through the cartridge and can shorten the time before replacement is appropriate.

Incoming Water Conditions

Higher sediment, rust, chlorine or other treatment loading can affect practical cartridge life before the published maximum capacity is reached.

Extended Non-Use

Puretec instructs users to flush the system for 10 minutes after any period of non-use longer than two days.

Use the genuine Z2-R replacement cartridge. Puretec specifies genuine replacements to maintain system performance and warranty conditions.

Puretec Z2-HFR Warranty & Maintenance

1-Year Manufacturer Warranty

Puretec currently provides a 1-year parts-and-labour warranty on the Z2-HFR system. The consumable filter cartridge is excluded.

6–12 Month Cartridge Replacement

The Z2-R should be replaced according to Puretec's servicing guidance, actual water quality and use rather than being left in service indefinitely.

JR Lifetime Warranty Eligibility

JR's current Z2-HFR listing identifies the supplied-and-installed product as Lifetime Warranty eligible. JR's Lifetime Warranty is separate from Puretec's product warranty and is subject to JR's applicable terms.
