PURETEC REVERSE OSMOSIS SERVICING

Puretec RO270 JR Service Kit Brisbane & Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water supplies and fits the genuine replacement filtration components used in the Puretec RO270 reverse-osmosis drinking-water system across eligible Brisbane and Gold Coast properties.

The complete JR service kit contains the MC051 5-micron moulded carbon cartridge, CB951 0.5-micron cyst-reduction carbon block and RET1812-75 75 GPD reverse-osmosis membrane.

These three components perform different treatment jobs inside the RO270. The MC051 provides sediment and chlorine pre-treatment, the CB951 provides finer carbon and cyst filtration, and the RET1812-75 membrane performs the ultra-fine reverse-osmosis stage responsible for reducing dissolved contaminants including fluoride, PFAS, nitrate, salts and manufacturer-listed heavy metals.

Puretec RO270 service kit at a glance: Stage 1 is the MC051 5-micron moulded carbon cartridge, Stage 2 is the CB951 0.5-micron carbon block and Stage 3 is the RET1812-75 75 GPD RO membrane. Puretec's current guide specifies the MC051 and CB951 every 6 months or 8,000 litres, whichever occurs first, and the membrane every 18–24 months or when water quality deteriorates.

What Is Included in the Puretec RO270 JR Service Kit?

1

MC051 5-Micron Moulded Carbon Cartridge

The first RO270 treatment stage combines sediment filtration with activated-carbon treatment. Puretec manufactures the MC051 using powdered activated carbon bonded to a cellulose-free synthetic-fibre matrix.

2

CB951 0.5-Micron Carbon Block Cartridge

The second stage is a bonded activated-carbon cartridge providing finer filtration and manufacturer-listed cyst, chlorine, taste, odour and sediment reduction.

3

RET1812-75 Reverse Osmosis Membrane

The final treatment stage is Puretec's 1.8-inch × 12-inch, 75 GPD reverse-osmosis membrane designed specifically for the RO270.

Complete-service distinction: the MC051 and CB951 are routine pre-filter cartridges. The RET1812-75 is the RO membrane and has a different replacement interval. Replacing only the two pre-filters does not renew an ageing membrane.

How the Puretec RO270 Filtration Stages Work

Stage 1 – Sediment & Chlorine

The MC051 reduces sediment, chlorine taste and odour and some organic chemicals while helping protect downstream treatment components.

Stage 2 – Fine Carbon & Cyst Filtration

The CB951 provides nominal 0.5-micron carbon filtration and manufacturer-listed Cryptosporidium cyst reduction before water reaches the RO membrane.

Stage 3 – Reverse Osmosis

The RET1812-75 membrane separates dissolved impurities from the product water while the rejected contaminants are flushed to drain.

RO is different from ordinary cartridge filtration. The membrane produces both purified product water and reject water. Reject water carrying concentrated impurities is discharged to drain during normal operation.

Puretec MC051 Moulded Carbon Cartridge

The Puretec MC051 combines sediment and carbon treatment in one standard 2.5-inch × 10-inch cartridge.

Puretec creates the filtration media by attaching powdered activated carbon to a cellulose-free synthetic-fibre matrix. This combines sediment filtration with carbon treatment while using a post-filtration layer designed to prevent carbon fines entering the outlet water.

5-Micron Nominal

Puretec specifies a nominal 5-micron filtration rating.

16 L/min Individual Flow

Puretec currently publishes an individual cartridge flow rate of 16 litres per minute.

Sediment & Chlorine Reduction

The MC051 provides pre-treatment for sediment, chlorine taste and odour and some organic chemical loading.

Individual cartridge flow is not RO production flow. The RO270's membrane production is approximately 270 litres per day. A pre-filter's litres-per-minute rating should not be confused with the membrane's purified-water production rate.

Puretec CB951 0.5-Micron Carbon Block

The Puretec CB951 is a bonded activated-carbon block designed for fine carbon filtration without releasing loose carbon fines into the treated-water stream.

0.5 Micron Nominal

The CB951 uses a nominal 0.5-micron carbon block in the standard 2.5-inch × 10-inch cartridge format.

15 L/min Individual Flow

Puretec currently publishes an individual cartridge flow rating of 15 litres per minute.

SilverPlus Technology

Puretec's current CB951 product information lists SilverPlus antibacterial technology among its cartridge features.

Puretec specifically lists reduction of cysts, chlorine, unwanted taste, odour and sediment for the CB951.

CB951 and CB951-H are different cartridges. Puretec specifically markets the separate CB951-H for additional heavy-metal reduction. Do not automatically apply CB951-H claims to the standard CB951 used by the RO270.

Does the CB951 Reduce Cryptosporidium?

Yes. Puretec currently states that the CB951 provides 99.9% Cryptosporidium cyst reduction.

The current RO270 user guide also records the complete system as passing the applicable Cryptosporidium and Giardia cyst-reduction class at 99.9% or more.

This cyst-reduction claim should not be broadened into a blanket claim that the CB951 alone disinfects microbiologically unsafe source water.

Puretec RET1812-75 Reverse Osmosis Membrane

The RET1812-75 is Puretec's genuine replacement membrane for the domestic RO270 system.

75 GPD Membrane

Puretec identifies the RET1812-75 as a 1.8-inch × 12-inch, 75-gallon-per-day membrane.

Approx. 0.0005-Micron RO Treatment

The complete RO270 is rated at approximately 0.0005-micron ultra-fine reverse-osmosis membrane filtration.

Fluoride Filtration

Puretec specifically lists fluoride filtration as a core RET1812-75 application for the RO270.

The RO270 manufacturer page currently lists reduction of dissolved impurities including fluoride, PFAS, nitrate, heavy metals and salts through its reverse-osmosis treatment process.

Membrane replacement interval: Puretec's current 2026 RO270 guide specifies replacement when water quality deteriorates or approximately every 18–24 months, depending on incoming water quality.

What's Included With JR RO270 Servicing?

Genuine RO270 Service Components

JR's current service product identifies CB951, MC051 and RET1812-75 as the three primary replacement filtration components.

Fitted Service

For a compatible and serviceable RO270, the relevant filter components can be changed, the system repressurised and the accessible installation checked.

Additional Repairs if Required

Tank, faucet, housing, tubing, drain, valve, pressure-control or other system faults may require separate parts or additional labour.

Use the live package selector above for current inclusions. JR's current product configuration remains the source of truth for fitted pricing, appointment availability and exact package scope.

How Much Does Puretec RO270 Servicing Cost?

Current fitted servicing pricing is displayed in JR's live service selector above. The live selector should remain the pricing source rather than embedding an old fixed service price into the page content.

A standard service assumes the existing RO270 is accessible, correctly installed and fundamentally serviceable.

Additional costs can apply where the storage tank, tap, housings, valves, tubing, drain connection, pressure control or other RO components require repair outside scheduled filter and membrane maintenance.

BRISBANE REVERSE OSMOSIS SERVICING

Puretec RO270 Service Brisbane

JR Gas & Water provides fitted Puretec RO270 servicing across eligible Brisbane properties using genuine MC051, CB951 and RET1812-75 replacement components.

A Brisbane RO270 service can address the pre-filtration and membrane stages according to their actual maintenance history rather than assuming all three components always need replacement at the same interval.

The MC051 and CB951 require much more frequent servicing than the RO membrane, while the membrane should be assessed against age, incoming water conditions and product-water quality. Eligible JR servicing also extends through Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and Redlands.

GOLD COAST REVERSE OSMOSIS SERVICING

Puretec RO270 Service Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water also services existing Puretec RO270 systems across eligible Gold Coast properties.

Reverse-osmosis performance is affected by more than elapsed time. Incoming TDS, hardness, pressure, sediment loading and chlorine exposure can all influence pre-filter loading and membrane life.

A complete Gold Coast service should therefore consider the condition and history of the RO270 rather than replacing only the easiest visible cartridges while leaving an overdue membrane or another system issue unaddressed.

How Often Does the Puretec RO270 Need Servicing?

Puretec's current 2026 RO270 instructions distinguish between the two pre-filter cartridges and the reverse-osmosis membrane.

MC051 – Every 6 Months

Puretec specifies replacement at least every 8,000 litres or six months, whichever occurs first, or sooner if taste, odour or flow changes.

CB951 – Every 6 Months

The second-stage carbon filter follows the same six-month / 8,000-litre service guidance.

RET1812-75 – 18 to 24 Months

Puretec specifies membrane replacement when water quality deteriorates or approximately every 18–24 months depending on incoming water quality.

After extended non-use: Puretec specifies a 10-minute system flush after more than two days without use. After more than two weeks, cartridge replacement may be necessary.

Why Replace RO270 Pre-Filters Every 6 Months?

The MC051 and CB951 sit ahead of the reverse-osmosis membrane and help protect it from sediment, chlorine and other treatment loading.

Leaving exhausted pre-filters in service can affect water quality, increase pressure drop and expose the downstream membrane to conditions it was not intended to receive.

Regular pre-filter replacement therefore supports both drinking-water quality and membrane life.

How Do I Know When the RO270 Membrane Is Due?

Puretec specifies a general membrane interval of approximately 18–24 months, but incoming water quality affects that interval.

Signs that membrane performance should be assessed can include a deterioration in product-water quality or treatment performance. The membrane should not be assumed serviceable indefinitely simply because water is still being produced.

Membrane age and water quality both matter. The current manufacturer guidance is replacement when product-water quality deteriorates or at approximately 18–24 months depending on incoming water conditions.

🚫 Unnecessary Contaminants in Rainwater

Contaminant Why It’s Unnecessary or Harmful? Ideal Level
Fluoride (F⁻) Not naturally present in rainwater. Studies (Harvard, U.S. EPA) link prolonged fluoride exposure to lower IQ, thyroid dysfunction, and skeletal issues. 0 mg/L
Copper (Cu) Exceeds safe limit. Likely from corroding pipes or roofing. High levels can cause metallic taste and health risks. < 0.5 mg/L
pH (Acidic Water) Slightly too low. Acidic water can cause pipe corrosion and leach metals like copper into the water. 6.5 - 7.5
Alkalinity Low alkalinity can make water unstable and prone to pH fluctuations. 20 - 50 mg/L

Home and Plumbing Impacts

🔹 Total Hardness (8 mg/L in rainwater): Extremely soft water, which can be corrosive to pipes, leading to potential metal leaching from plumbing.

🔹 Iron & Manganese (Rainwater: Iron 0.03 mg/L, Manganese 0.009 mg/L): Low but can cause sediment buildup over time if not filtered.

🔹 Copper (2.24 mg/L in rainwater): High levels may indicate corrosion in metal roofing or pipes, leading to health and plumbing concerns.

Should You Use a Water Filtration System?

For both mains and rainwater users, filtration is essential to ensure clean, safe drinking water. Here’s what we recommend:

✅ For Rainwater Users:

  • Puretec Hybrid G Series: Great for sediment, bacteria, and chlorine removal (if rainwater is treated).

  • Puretec Reverse Osmosis (RO) System: Removes copper, fluoride, and dissolved contaminants.

  • Puretec Filter Wall System: A high-flow system for whole-house filtration.

✅ For Mains Water Users:

  • Puretec X3 or Z1 Series: Best for drinking water filtration.

  • Puretec Reverse Osmosis (RO) System: Removes fluoride and heavy metals.

  • Puretec Filter Wall System: A high-flow system for whole-house filtration.
