PURETEC FILTERWALL F5 MAINTENANCE

Puretec FR-F5 FilterWall Service Brisbane & Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water supplies and fits the genuine Puretec FR-F5 Premium Care Kit for existing FilterWall F5 whole-house filtration systems across eligible Brisbane and Gold Coast properties.

The FR-F5 contains the complete three-cartridge treatment set Puretec specifies for the FilterWall F5: PL20MP2 20-micron pleated sediment, PX05MP2 5-micron polyspun sediment and CB10MP2 10-micron carbon block.

Puretec's factory kit also includes replacement O-rings and food-grade lubricant, allowing the cartridge stages and housing seals to be maintained together during scheduled servicing.

Puretec FR-F5 at a glance: the FilterWall F5 uses PL20MP2 as Stage 1, PX05MP2 as Stage 2 and CB10MP2 as Stage 3. All three are MaxiPlus™ 4.5-inch × 20-inch cartridges. The complete F5 is rated at up to 55 L/min and Puretec generally recommends cartridge replacement every 6–12 months depending on household usage and incoming water quality.

What Is Included in the Puretec FR-F5?

1

PL20MP2 20-Micron Pleated Sediment Cartridge

The first stage is Puretec's washable 20-micron MaxiPlus™ pleated sediment cartridge. Its large polyester-media surface area is designed for high dirt-holding capacity and coarse sediment pre-filtration.

2

PX05MP2 5-Micron Polyspun Sediment Cartridge

The second stage provides finer graded-density depth filtration for dirt, rust, sand, silt, algae and other suspended particulate that passes the first stage.

3

CB10MP2 10-Micron Carbon Block Cartridge

The third stage is Puretec's bonded activated-carbon block for chlorine, unwanted taste, odour and sediment reduction throughout the whole-home filtered-water supply.

Replacement O-Rings

Puretec's FR-F5 factory care kit includes replacement housing O-rings so deteriorated sealing components can be renewed during maintenance.

Food-Grade Lubricant

Food-grade lubricant is supplied by Puretec for appropriate lubrication of the filter-housing seals during servicing.

Which Puretec System Does the FR-F5 Suit?

FilterWall F5

The FR-F5 is Puretec's dedicated Premium Care Kit for the three-stage, 20-inch FilterWall F5.

All F5 Colour Variants

The filtration configuration remains PL20MP2, PX05MP2 and CB10MP2 across current F5 colour finishes where Puretec specifies the FilterWall F5 platform.

Not the F6 Kit

FilterWall F6 uses PX05MP2, CB10MP2 and ScaleProtect-MP2 instead. The FR-F5 should not be substituted for an FR-F6 service.

Confirm the FilterWall model before servicing. F5 and F6 both use 20-inch housings and share some cartridges, but the first and third treatment combinations are different.

How the FilterWall F5 Filtration Stages Work

Stage 1: Coarse Sediment

The washable PL20MP2 catches larger suspended sediment first and provides a large surface area for high sediment loading.

Stage 2: Fine Sediment

The PX05MP2 then provides nominal 5-micron graded-depth filtration for finer suspended particles.

Stage 3: Carbon Treatment

The CB10MP2 provides the final carbon stage for chlorine, unwanted taste, odour and sediment reduction.

Cartridge order matters. Puretec specifies PL20MP2 → PX05MP2 → CB10MP2 for the FilterWall F5. Reversing stages changes the treatment sequence the system was designed around.

Puretec PL20MP2 Pleated Sediment Cartridge

The PL20MP2 is manufactured from durable non-woven reusable polyester fabric pleated around a polypropylene core. Puretec seals the pleat ends into a unitised end-cap and gasket arrangement and sonically welds the overlap seam to reduce internal bypass.

20 Micron Nominal

The PL20MP2 provides nominal 20-micron sediment filtration in Puretec's 4.5-inch × 20-inch MaxiPlus™ format.

Washable Polyester Media

The pleated cartridge can be cleaned where its condition remains suitable, making it useful as the first stage in higher-sediment applications.

Large Surface Area

The pleated construction maximises filtration area and dirt-holding capacity compared with a simple flat media surface.

Puretec currently publishes an individual PL20MP2 flow rating of 188 L/min.

188 L/min is an individual cartridge rating. The complete FilterWall F5 is manufacturer-rated at up to 55 L/min, so the PL20MP2 figure must not be used as the installed system flow rate.

Puretec PX05MP2 Polyspun Sediment Cartridge

The PX05MP2 is made from virgin polypropylene using Puretec's spun-and-melted manufacturing process. Its graded-density construction provides depth filtration without a conventional centre core restricting the usable filtration area.

5 Micron Nominal

Puretec specifies a nominal 5-micron rating in the MaxiPlus™ 4.5-inch × 20-inch format.

Graded Depth Filtration

Particles can be captured throughout the depth of the media rather than being loaded only on the cartridge's outside surface.

Sediment Reduction

Puretec lists dirt, rust, sand, silt, algae and other suspended particles among the PX05MP2 treatment targets.

Puretec currently publishes an individual PX05MP2 cartridge flow rating of 156 L/min.

Puretec CB10MP2 Carbon Block Cartridge

The CB10MP2 is a bonded activated-carbon cartridge used as the final treatment stage in the FilterWall F5.

10-Micron Carbon Block

The CB10MP2 is a nominal 10-micron MaxiPlus™ 4.5-inch × 20-inch cartridge.

60 L/min Individual Rating

Puretec currently publishes an individual cartridge flow rate of 60 litres per minute.

SilverPlus Technology

Puretec's current CB10MP2 information lists SilverPlus antibacterial technology among the cartridge features.

Puretec explicitly lists reduction of chlorine, unwanted taste, odour and sediment for the CB10MP2.

Do not apply every CB-series claim to the CB10MP2. Puretec separately notes that specialised lead, cyst, heavy-metal, high-turbidity and sulphur-removal models are available. Those specialised claims should not automatically be assigned to the standard CB10MP2.

What Does the FilterWall F5 Treat?

Sediment

The PL20MP2 and PX05MP2 provide two progressive sediment stages to reduce dirt, rust, sand, silt and other suspended particulate.

Chlorine, Taste & Odour

The CB10MP2 carbon block provides the FilterWall F5's manufacturer-listed chlorine, taste and odour treatment stage.

Current F5 System-Level Claims

Puretec's current FilterWall F5 product information also markets the complete system for reduction of PFAS, chlorine and sediment. That is a complete-system claim and should not be presented as an individual PL20MP2 cartridge claim.

Who Is the Puretec FR-F5 Service Kit For?

Existing FilterWall F5 Owners

The FR-F5 is designed for scheduled maintenance of an existing FilterWall F5 rather than installation of a new whole-house filter.

Systems Due for Routine Maintenance

Puretec recommends FilterWall cartridge replacement approximately every 6–12 months depending on household usage and water conditions.

Customers Wanting Genuine Puretec Parts

The factory care kit uses the exact cartridge codes, O-rings and lubricant specified for the F5 platform.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

What Happens During a Puretec FilterWall F5 Service?

  • Confirm the existing system is a FilterWall F5
  • Confirm FR-F5 component compatibility
  • Isolate the FilterWall water supply
  • Relieve pressure at a downstream tap
  • Remove the existing filter bowls
  • Remove the three used cartridges
  • Clean accessible bowls with warm soapy water
  • Inspect housing O-rings and sealing surfaces
  • Apply appropriate food-grade lubricant where required
  • Install PL20MP2 as Stage 1
  • Install PX05MP2 as Stage 2
  • Install CB10MP2 as Stage 3
  • Reassemble housings without overtightening
  • Restore the water supply gradually
  • Check accessible components for leaks
  • Flush through a downstream tap after servicing
Puretec's current maintenance procedure specifies a downstream flush of approximately 2 minutes after the FilterWall has been repressurised and checked for leakage.

Why Are O-Rings Included in the FR-F5?

The housing O-rings create the watertight seal between each filter bowl and filter head. They should be inspected whenever the cartridges are serviced.

Puretec currently recommends replacing FilterWall housing O-rings approximately every 3–5 years to help maintain a reliable watertight seal and reduce the risk of leakage.

Puretec replacement O-ring: the current FilterWall maintenance guide identifies the housing O-ring ordering code as MPOR-G.

What's Included With JR FR-F5 Servicing?

Genuine FR-F5 Components

The factory maintenance set provides the three genuine F5 cartridges together with the manufacturer-supplied maintenance seals and lubricant.

Fitted Cartridge Service

For a compatible and serviceable F5, JR can replace the filtration stages, reassemble the system, restore pressure, flush and check the accessible installation.

Additional Repairs if Required

Damaged housings, failed valves, pressure-control issues, enclosure damage or other plumbing faults may require additional parts and labour.

The live JR selector above remains the source of truth for current fitted pricing, appointment availability and exact package inclusions.

How Much Does Puretec FR-F5 Servicing Cost?

Current fitted servicing pricing is displayed in JR's live selector above. This page should use that live price rather than embedding a fixed historical service amount into long-form content.

A standard service assumes the existing FilterWall F5 is accessible, correctly identified and fundamentally serviceable.

Where the system has damaged filter bowls, failed isolation valves, leaking fittings, pressure-control faults, enclosure damage or unrelated plumbing defects, additional repair work may be required.

BRISBANE FILTERWALL SERVICING

Puretec FR-F5 FilterWall Service Brisbane

JR Gas & Water services existing Puretec FilterWall F5 systems across eligible Brisbane properties using the genuine FR-F5 maintenance kit.

A Brisbane F5 service renews all three filtration stages together, maintaining the intended coarse-sediment, fine-sediment and carbon-treatment sequence rather than replacing only the cartridge that looks most visibly loaded.

JR can also identify obvious accessible issues such as ageing housing seals, leaking bowls or pressure-related concerns during the service. Eligible coverage extends through Brisbane and surrounding service areas including Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and Redlands.

GOLD COAST FILTERWALL SERVICING

Puretec FR-F5 FilterWall Service Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water also provides fitted FilterWall F5 servicing across eligible Gold Coast properties where the existing system remains accessible and serviceable.

The F5's larger 20-inch cartridges are designed for higher whole-home flow, but cartridge life still depends on actual water consumption, incoming sediment and the treatment load placed on the carbon stage.

If household flow has reduced or chlorine taste and odour are beginning to return, the cartridges should be assessed even if the system has not yet reached the end of a nominal calendar interval.

How Often Does the Puretec FilterWall F5 Need Servicing?

Puretec currently recommends FilterWall F-Series cartridge replacement approximately every 6–12 months, depending on household usage and incoming water quality.

6–12 Month General Interval

This is Puretec's normal replacement guidance for FilterWall cartridges, not a guarantee that every property will achieve exactly the same service life.

Reduced Water Flow

Increasing sediment loading through the PL20MP2 and PX05MP2 can contribute to greater pressure drop and reduced household flow.

Taste & Odour Changes

Returning chlorine taste or unwanted odour can indicate that the carbon-treatment stage is reaching the end of its useful capacity.

Can the PL20MP2 Be Washed Instead of Replaced?

The PL20MP2 is manufactured as a washable reusable pleated polyester sediment cartridge, so accumulated surface sediment can be cleaned where the media remains in suitable condition.

However, cleaning the PL20MP2 does not renew the PX05MP2 depth cartridge or restore the carbon-treatment capacity of the CB10MP2.

Puretec also recommends replacing the FilterWall cartridges for optimum performance and hygiene rather than relying indefinitely on repeated cleaning of the washable first stage.

Why Replace All Three F5 Cartridges Together?

Each cartridge performs a different treatment function. The PL20MP2 manages larger sediment loading, the PX05MP2 provides finer sediment depth filtration and the CB10MP2 performs the carbon-treatment stage.

Replacing only the first cartridge does not restore fine-sediment capacity or carbon performance. Where the complete service interval has been reached, replacing the full FR-F5 set restores all three scheduled treatment stages.

FR-F5 vs FR-F6 Service Kit

Feature FR-F5 FR-F6
Compatible System FilterWall F5 FilterWall F6
Stage 1 PL20MP2 PX05MP2
Stage 2 PX05MP2 CB10MP2
Stage 3 CB10MP2 ScaleProtect-MP2
Primary Difference Two sediment stages plus carbon Sediment plus carbon plus scale-control media
Published System Flow 55 L/min 55 L/min
F5 and F6 service kits are not interchangeable. Both systems use 20-inch FilterWall housings, but their three-stage treatment configuration is different.

FR-F5 vs IM-2 Cartridge Service

Feature FilterWall F5 / FR-F5 IM2 / WH2-55 / WH2-60 Pair
PL20MP2 Yes — Stage 1 No
PX05MP2 Yes — Stage 2 Yes — Stage 1
CB10MP2 Yes — Stage 3 Yes — Stage 2
Total Cartridges Three Two
Complete F5 Service? Yes No — the PL20MP2 would be missing

This distinction matters because PX05MP2 and CB10MP2 are shared across multiple Puretec systems, but a FilterWall F5 requires the additional PL20MP2 first stage for its complete manufacturer-specified cartridge set.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Puretec FR-F5 Service Kit FAQs

What cartridges are included in the Puretec FR-F5?

Puretec specifies PL20MP2, PX05MP2 and CB10MP2 for the FilterWall F5.

What order do the FilterWall F5 cartridges go in?

PL20MP2 goes first, PX05MP2 second and CB10MP2 third.

What micron rating is the PL20MP2?

The PL20MP2 has a nominal 20-micron rating.

Is the PL20MP2 washable?

Yes. Puretec manufactures it from reusable pleated polyester media and lists it as washable.

What is the PL20MP2 flow rating?

Puretec publishes an individual cartridge flow rating of 188 L/min. The complete FilterWall F5 is rated at 55 L/min.

What micron rating is the PX05MP2?

The PX05MP2 has a nominal 5-micron rating.

What does the PX05MP2 reduce?

Puretec lists dirt, rust, sand, silt, algae and other suspended particulate.

What micron rating is the CB10MP2?

The CB10MP2 is a nominal 10-micron bonded carbon block.

What does the CB10MP2 reduce?

Puretec specifically lists chlorine, unwanted taste, odour and sediment reduction.

What is the FilterWall F5 flow rate?

Puretec currently publishes a maximum complete-system flow rate of 55 litres per minute.

Why is the PL20MP2 rated at 188 L/min if the F5 only flows at 55 L/min?

188 L/min is a standalone cartridge rating. The installed system includes three cartridges, housings, valves, connections and other hydraulic restrictions, so the complete F5 has its own lower system rating.

Does the FilterWall F5 reduce PFAS?

Puretec's current FilterWall F5 product information markets the complete system for PFAS, chlorine and sediment reduction. This is a system-level claim and should not be attributed to the PL20MP2 sediment cartridge by itself.

How often should FilterWall F5 cartridges be replaced?

Puretec generally recommends every 6–12 months depending on water quality and household usage.

Can I wash the PL20MP2 and leave the other cartridges?

Cleaning the PL20MP2 addresses only the first stage. It does not renew the PX05MP2 depth filter or the CB10MP2 carbon-treatment capacity.

Does the FR-F5 include O-rings?

Yes. Puretec's factory FR-F5 Premium Care Kit includes replacement O-rings and food-grade lubricant with the cartridges.

How often should FilterWall O-rings be replaced?

Puretec currently recommends replacement approximately every 3–5 years, with inspection during cartridge servicing.

How long should the FilterWall be flushed after servicing?

Puretec's maintenance guide specifies flushing through a downstream tap for approximately two minutes after repressurising and checking the system.

Does the FR-F5 fit FilterWall F6?

No. F6 uses PX05MP2, CB10MP2 and ScaleProtect-MP2 rather than the F5's PL20MP2, PX05MP2 and CB10MP2 combination.

Can I use only PX05MP2 and CB10MP2 in an F5?

That would not be the complete manufacturer-specified F5 replacement set because the PL20MP2 first-stage cartridge would be missing.

Does normal FR-F5 servicing repair damaged housings?

No. Cracked housings, failed valves, enclosure damage, pressure-control faults or unrelated plumbing defects require separate repair unless specifically included in the selected service package.

🚫 Unnecessary Contaminants in Rainwater

Contaminant Why It’s Unnecessary or Harmful? Ideal Level
Fluoride (F⁻) Not naturally present in rainwater. Studies (Harvard, U.S. EPA) link prolonged fluoride exposure to lower IQ, thyroid dysfunction, and skeletal issues. 0 mg/L
Copper (Cu) Exceeds safe limit. Likely from corroding pipes or roofing. High levels can cause metallic taste and health risks. < 0.5 mg/L
pH (Acidic Water) Slightly too low. Acidic water can cause pipe corrosion and leach metals like copper into the water. 6.5 - 7.5
Alkalinity Low alkalinity can make water unstable and prone to pH fluctuations. 20 - 50 mg/L

Home and Plumbing Impacts

🔹 Total Hardness (8 mg/L in rainwater): Extremely soft water, which can be corrosive to pipes, leading to potential metal leaching from plumbing.

🔹 Iron & Manganese (Rainwater: Iron 0.03 mg/L, Manganese 0.009 mg/L): Low but can cause sediment buildup over time if not filtered.

🔹 Copper (2.24 mg/L in rainwater): High levels may indicate corrosion in metal roofing or pipes, leading to health and plumbing concerns.
