WATER FILTRATION GUIDE Β· WOONGOOLBA

Choose Filtration for Your Property

Your supply and treatment goal matter more than a suburb average. This guide narrows options; final suitability depends on the actual property and water testing.

We don't have a completed water-filter installation recorded in Woongoolba in the job history we're using. Any examples shown are labelled with their actual suburb. Our comparison water test comes from Burleigh Waters, not Woongoolba.

Individual-property water-test examples

Here are some individual-property test results we have on file for comparison. None of these is a water test from your Woongoolba address.
Burleigh Waters (2025; mains water; filtration stage not specified) β€” pH 7.52; hardness 40 mg/L; TDS 98 mg/L; turbidity 0.02 NTU.
Labrador (2025; mains water; filtration stage not specified) β€” pH 7.78; hardness 100 mg/L; TDS 227 mg/L; turbidity 0.02 NTU.
Arundel (2025; mains water; filtration stage not specified) β€” pH 7.51; hardness 56 mg/L; TDS 124 mg/L; turbidity 0.02 NTU.
The numbers belong to the properties and treatment stages named above. A post-filter result is treated water, not a reading from the raw supply. We'd test or check the water at your own Woongoolba property before making a recommendation; these figures alone don't prove water is safe to drink.
Documented work across Gold Coast
Puretec EM2-100 – Jacobs Well, May 2025
Our May 2025 job in Jacobs Well was to fit a Puretec EM2-100 whole-home filter. This was a whole-house job, with the filter intended for the property's main water supply. We fitted the unit and completed the job.

What the results mean for choosing a system

There's a water sample in our records from Burleigh Waters (2025, mains water). That's a different property, not a test of your Woongoolba supply. We'd want to know where your water comes from and what you're trying to treat before using any readings to choose a filter.

Installation considerations

At a Woongoolba acreage or larger-block property, we'd check whether the house runs on mains, tank, bore or a changeover. We'd also look at the pump, water pressure, entry point and room to service cartridges. A filter for the garden or stock line might not be right for the drinking-water taps.

Measurements relate to the named properties and stages only. They do not establish an average or prove water is safe to drink.

Water Filters for Homes in Woongoolba

If you're on acreage in Woongoolba, the big question is whether the house uses mains water, a rainwater tank, bore water or a combination. For tank or pump-fed water, we also check pressure, sediment and whether separate treatment is needed for drinking water.

The Plumbing in Your Home

You can find detached village houses, acreage homes and semi-rural properties around Woongoolba, each with its own plumbing layout. Not every place has the same water source. One home might use mains, while the next uses tank water or a pump. We'd check which supply feeds your taps first.

What Would You Like to Improve?

If your water tastes odd, leaves sediment behind or you're worried about a particular substance, we need to know which one. At a Woongoolba property, we'd check the actual supply instead of guessing from the suburb.

Mains, Tank or Bore Water?

There's a water sample in our records from Burleigh Waters (2025, mains water). That's a different property, not a test of your Woongoolba supply. We'd want to know where your water comes from and what you're trying to treat before using any readings to choose a filter.

What We Check Before Installing

At a Woongoolba acreage or larger-block property, we'd check whether the house runs on mains, tank, bore or a changeover. We'd also look at the pump, water pressure, entry point and room to service cartridges. A filter for the garden or stock line might not be right for the drinking-water taps.

Which Water Filter Should You Choose?

Filtered Water Throughout the House

For whole-home filtration in Woongoolba, we'd check how the tank or pump delivers water, peak flow, sediment and where the filter can be mounted. If the supply isn't treated mains water, testing may show that extra stages are needed. We also plan for bypass and cartridge changes.

Better Water at the Kitchen Tap

If it is mainly your drinking water you want to improve, an under-sink filter could be the simpler option. We check the cold-water connection, available cupboard space, the tap arrangement and whether you can reach the cartridges later.

Is Reverse Osmosis Right for You?

Reverse osmosis can be useful for a specific drinking-water concern, but it needs the right feed pressure, a drain for reject water and room for the membranes and filter changes. With a tank or pump supply, we may also need pretreatment and extra pressure checks.

Rainwater Tanks, Bores and UV Treatment

If you're using rainwater, bore water or a mix of supplies, we'd want to understand the source and whether drinking-water testing is needed. A carbon cartridge on its own doesn't make untreated water safe. Depending on the results, sediment filtration, UV or another suitable treatment might be needed.

See Water Test Readings

Two homes in the same area can have different water. These results come from individual properties and might not reflect what comes out of your tap. We recommend testing your own supply before deciding on treatment.

Need Help Choosing a Water Filter?

For tank- or bore-fed homes, we'd start with the water source and any testing, not a particular model. Whole-home filtration is an option when you want water treated at multiple taps. Under-sink filtration keeps the job to the kitchen, while reverse osmosis is worth discussing for a specific drinking-water need. We can check your actual supply before giving you a firm recommendation.

Mains Water and Rainwater in Woongoolba

The best filter depends on where your water comes from. Here's what JR has recorded at some mains-water properties in Gold Coast, and what to look at if your home uses rainwater.

TOWN WATER

Gold Coast Mains Water Test Results

5water tests

These figures come from 5 mains-water samples JR recorded in 2025. They show the median (middle) reading from those tests. The samples were taken before filtration or had no confirmed filtration stage. They don't represent every home in the area or establish that water is safe to drink.

pH7.52Middle reading
Total hardness56mg/L, middle reading*
Dissolved solids (TDS)121mg/L, middle reading
Turbidity0.02NTU, middle reading

What this means for your home

Hardness varied between these properties. A low reading at one house doesn't tell us what you'll get from your own taps, especially if you're on tank water.

Across the tested properties, hardness ranged from 40 to 100 mg/L, dissolved solids from 98 to 227 mg/L, and turbidity from 0.02 to 0.19 NTU. These are readings from individual properties, not a test of the whole water network.

Where the samples came fromArundel, Burleigh Waters, GavenSuburbs only; no customer details.

* Hardness figures use the units recorded in JR's test sheets; check the test method and units before comparing them with a filter specification. These aren't readings from the water supplier's monitoring program. A result of 0.02 NTU doesn't mean there's no turbidity. None of these figures describes rainwater, bore water or a private supply, and the four measurements can't tell you whether chlorine, PFAS, germs or other contaminants are present. They aren't a drinking-water safety test.

RAINWATER TANKS

What About Rainwater Tanks?

Tank water needs its own check. Roof and gutter condition, first-flush setup, animals, tank maintenance, how long the water sits and what you use it for can all make a difference. The mains-water readings above don't apply to rainwater tanks. Treatment needs to suit the water in your tank and how you plan to use it.

01

Start with the roof and tank

Check the roof and gutters, leaf screens, first-flush diverter, tank lid and overflow protection. Keeping dirt and animals out of the tank is just as important as the filter itself.

02

Check your tank water

If you drink or cook with tank water, have the microbial risks assessed and arrange suitable testing. Depending on the property, you may also need to check sediment, acidity, metals, chemicals or an unusual colour or smell.

03

Choose the right filters

A sediment filter can help stop particles reaching taps and other equipment. Carbon or other filter media may help with particular problems, but a cartridge filter by itself isn't a substitute for disinfection.

04

Check whether UV is needed

If the water will be used for drinking, check whether a properly sized and maintained UV or another suitable disinfection system is needed. UV relies on clear enough water and a reliable power supply, and it won't remove dissolved chemicals.

Using town water and a tank? Have a licensed plumber check how the supplies switch over, backflow protection, pipework separation, flow and any treatment needed. Installing a filter doesn't automatically make tank water safe to drink.

Not Sure Which Water Filter to Choose?

Tell us whether you're using town water, rainwater or both, and what you'd like to improve. We can check flow, space and plumbing requirements to help you choose a suitable system.

Water Filtration Questions in Woongoolba

Answers about water-filter suitability, installation work and water testing for properties in and around Woongoolba.

Where would you put a water filter at my Woongoolba property?

Usually we'd look at the main water entry or the kitchen cold-water line, depending on what you want filtered. At a Woongoolba property using tanks or a pump, we'd also check the water source, pressure and whether there's room to service the filters.

Have you actually installed water filters in Woongoolba?

Not in Woongoolba itself, based on the completed jobs in our current records. We have 23 installations across Gold Coast, including Puretec EM2-100 in Jacobs Well. We list that job under its real suburb rather than claiming it happened here.

Does a water test from Burleigh Waters tell me what my Woongoolba water is like?

No. The example we've shown was taken at a property in Burleigh Waters in 2025, not at your Woongoolba address. It's useful for context, but we'd check or test your own water before using any readings to choose treatment.

Any nearby water-test readings relate to the sampled property, not every home in the suburb. Filter selection and installation requirements should be confirmed for your actual water source and plumbing.
