WATER FILTRATION GUIDE Β· GAVEN

Choose Filtration for Your Property

Your supply and treatment goal matter more than a suburb average. This guide narrows options; final suitability depends on the actual property and water testing.

We don't have a completed water-filter installation recorded in Gaven in the job history we're using. Any examples shown are labelled with their actual suburb. We've also tested water at one Gaven property; that's an individual sample, not a suburb average.

Individual-property water-test examples

These are individual water samples we have on file, including one taken at a property in Gaven. They aren't suburb-wide averages.
Gaven (2025; mains water; filtration stage not specified) β€” pH 7.54; hardness 56 mg/L; TDS 121 mg/L; turbidity 0.19 NTU.
Helensvale (2025; mains water; filtration stage not specified) β€” pH 7.48; hardness 48 mg/L; TDS 111 mg/L; turbidity 0.02 NTU.
Arundel (2025; mains water; filtration stage not specified) β€” pH 7.51; hardness 56 mg/L; TDS 124 mg/L; turbidity 0.02 NTU.
The numbers belong to the properties and treatment stages named above. A post-filter result is treated water, not a reading from the raw supply. We'd test or check the water at your own Gaven property before making a recommendation; these figures alone don't prove water is safe to drink.
Documented work across Gold Coast
Whole-home filtration – Pacific Pines, August 2026
We fitted a whole-home filtration system for a Pacific Pines customer in August 2026. This was a whole-house job, with the filter intended for the property's main water supply. We fitted the unit and completed the job.

What the results mean for choosing a system

We do have a water-test result from one Gaven property (2025, mains water, filtration stage not specified). It's useful background, but it tells us about that one supply, not every tap in the suburb. For your home, we'd still check whether you're on mains, rainwater, bore or a combination before choosing treatment.

Installation considerations

On an older Gaven property, we'd find the main shutoff first and check the existing pipework before deciding where the filter can go. There needs to be enough room to mount the housing, isolate it and change cartridges without pulling everything apart.

Measurements relate to the named properties and stages only. They do not establish an average or prove water is safe to drink.

Puretec F6 – Highland Park, September 2026

In September 2026, we went to a Highland Park property to install a Puretec F6 whole-home filter. The house had two incoming water points, which the team checked were on the same line. One now runs through the whole-home filter while the other was left as the bypass; a water-quality test was also recorded.

Water Filters for Homes in Gaven

At a Gaven home, we'd start with the water coming into the property and what you want treated. We can look at the main supply for a whole-home system, or the cold-water line under the kitchen sink if that's all you need.

The Plumbing in Your Home

You can find established houses, renovations, townhouses and some commercial premises around Gaven, each with its own plumbing layout. Townhouses, units and renovations can give you quite different access to the cold-water line. We'd check that first rather than assume the filter will fit.

What Would You Like to Improve?

The best starting point is a simple question: what would you like to change about the water? Then we can look at the source, flow and any testing at your Gaven home before suggesting equipment.

Mains, Tank or Bore Water?

We do have a water-test result from one Gaven property (2025, mains water, filtration stage not specified). It's useful background, but it tells us about that one supply, not every tap in the suburb. For your home, we'd still check whether you're on mains, rainwater, bore or a combination before choosing treatment.

What We Check Before Installing

On an older Gaven property, we'd find the main shutoff first and check the existing pipework before deciding where the filter can go. There needs to be enough room to mount the housing, isolate it and change cartridges without pulling everything apart.

Which Water Filter Should You Choose?

Filtered Water Throughout the House

Want every tap filtered, not just the kitchen? We'd look for a suitable point on the incoming water line, check flow and pressure, and leave room for a bypass and cartridge changes. The best position at a Gaven home depends on the actual pipework.

Better Water at the Kitchen Tap

Only want to filter the kitchen tap? We can look at an under-sink system without treating every shower and laundry tap. We just need room for the filter, a suitable cold-water connection and space for servicing.

Is Reverse Osmosis Right for You?

Reverse osmosis can be useful for a specific drinking-water concern, but it needs the right feed pressure, a drain for reject water and room for the membranes and filter changes. We would check those things under your sink before recommending a model.

Rainwater Tanks, Bores and UV Treatment

If you're using rainwater, bore water or a mix of supplies, we'd want to understand the source and whether drinking-water testing is needed. A carbon cartridge on its own doesn't make untreated water safe. Depending on the results, sediment filtration, UV or another suitable treatment might be needed.

See Water Test Readings

These are individual water samples we have on file, including one taken at a property in Gaven. They aren't suburb-wide averages.

Two homes in the same area can have different water. These results come from individual properties and might not reflect what comes out of your tap. We recommend testing your own supply before deciding on treatment.

Need Help Choosing a Water Filter?

There's no single filter we'd recommend to every house in the suburb. Whole-home filtration is an option when you want water treated at multiple taps. Under-sink filtration keeps the job to the kitchen, while reverse osmosis is worth discussing for a specific drinking-water need. We can check your actual supply before giving you a firm recommendation.

Mains Water and Rainwater in Gaven

The best filter depends on where your water comes from. Here's what JR has recorded at some mains-water properties in Gold Coast, and what to look at if your home uses rainwater.

TOWN WATER

Gold Coast Mains Water Test Results

5water tests

These figures come from 5 mains-water samples JR recorded in 2025. They show the median (middle) reading from those tests. The samples were taken before filtration or had no confirmed filtration stage. They don't represent every home in the area or establish that water is safe to drink.

pH7.52Middle reading
Total hardness56mg/L, middle reading*
Dissolved solids (TDS)121mg/L, middle reading
Turbidity0.02NTU, middle reading

What this means for your home

Hardness varied between these properties. A low reading at one house doesn't tell us what you'll get from your own taps, especially if you're on tank water.

Across the tested properties, hardness ranged from 40 to 100 mg/L, dissolved solids from 98 to 227 mg/L, and turbidity from 0.02 to 0.19 NTU. These are readings from individual properties, not a test of the whole water network.

Where the samples came fromArundel, Burleigh Waters, GavenSuburbs only; no customer details.

* Hardness figures use the units recorded in JR's test sheets; check the test method and units before comparing them with a filter specification. These aren't readings from the water supplier's monitoring program. A result of 0.02 NTU doesn't mean there's no turbidity. None of these figures describes rainwater, bore water or a private supply, and the four measurements can't tell you whether chlorine, PFAS, germs or other contaminants are present. They aren't a drinking-water safety test.

RAINWATER TANKS

What About Rainwater Tanks?

Tank water needs its own check. Roof and gutter condition, first-flush setup, animals, tank maintenance, how long the water sits and what you use it for can all make a difference. The mains-water readings above don't apply to rainwater tanks. Treatment needs to suit the water in your tank and how you plan to use it.

01

Start with the roof and tank

Check the roof and gutters, leaf screens, first-flush diverter, tank lid and overflow protection. Keeping dirt and animals out of the tank is just as important as the filter itself.

02

Check your tank water

If you drink or cook with tank water, have the microbial risks assessed and arrange suitable testing. Depending on the property, you may also need to check sediment, acidity, metals, chemicals or an unusual colour or smell.

03

Choose the right filters

A sediment filter can help stop particles reaching taps and other equipment. Carbon or other filter media may help with particular problems, but a cartridge filter by itself isn't a substitute for disinfection.

04

Check whether UV is needed

If the water will be used for drinking, check whether a properly sized and maintained UV or another suitable disinfection system is needed. UV relies on clear enough water and a reliable power supply, and it won't remove dissolved chemicals.

Using town water and a tank? Have a licensed plumber check how the supplies switch over, backflow protection, pipework separation, flow and any treatment needed. Installing a filter doesn't automatically make tank water safe to drink.

Not Sure Which Water Filter to Choose?

Tell us whether you're using town water, rainwater or both, and what you'd like to improve. We can check flow, space and plumbing requirements to help you choose a suitable system.

Water Filtration Questions in Gaven

Answers about water-filter suitability, installation work and water testing for properties in and around Gaven.

Where would you put a water filter at my Gaven property?

It could go on the incoming water line if you want whole-home filtration, or under the kitchen sink if it's mainly for drinking water. We'd check the supply, valves, pressure and available space at your Gaven property before choosing the spot.

Have you actually installed water filters in Gaven?

Not in Gaven itself, based on the completed jobs in our current records. We have 23 installations across Gold Coast, including Whole-home filtration in Pacific Pines. We list that job under its real suburb rather than claiming it happened here.

Have you done a water test in Gaven?

Yes, we have a 2025 result from one property in Gaven (mains water, filtration stage not specified). In that sample, pH was 7.54 and hardness was 56 mg/L. That's useful for that address, but it doesn't tell us what the water is like at every home in the area or whether it's safe to drink.

Any nearby water-test readings relate to the sampled property, not every home in the suburb. Filter selection and installation requirements should be confirmed for your actual water source and plumbing.
