Important: This Rinnai Enviroflo 315L Is Discontinued
Rinnai now classifies the integrated EHPA315VMA Enviroflo 315L as discontinued.
JR's existing product page is also currently marked sold out and appears in JR's discontinued hot-water system range.
This matters because Rinnai now offers newer Enviroflo S 315L split heat pumps using separate storage tanks and 5.0kW or 7.0kW outdoor heat-pump modules.
Those newer split systems are not simply updated versions of the EHPA315VMA. They have different heat-pump modules, physical layouts, operating ranges, noise figures, refrigerants and performance specifications.
This page should therefore remain specifically about the older integrated EHPA315VMA.
What Is the Rinnai Enviroflo 315L?
The Rinnai Enviroflo EHPA315VMA is an integrated air-source heat-pump water heater.
It heats stored water by using a refrigeration circuit to absorb thermal energy from the surrounding outdoor air and transfer that heat into the water.
The storage tank and heat-pump module are built together as one tall outdoor appliance rather than using a separate tank and compressor.
The system also includes a 2.4kW electric element. This allows electric resistance heating to support the system when required by its operating mode or when ambient temperatures fall outside normal heat-pump operation.
Who Is the Rinnai Enviroflo 315L Best For?
Larger Family Homes
Rinnai originally positioned the 315L system for up to six people, around three bathrooms and five bedrooms.
Replacing Large Electric Storage
The integrated format can suit homes upgrading from a conventional large electric storage cylinder where enough outdoor space, airflow and drainage are available.
Homes Wanting Integrated Heat Pump Technology
The tank and refrigeration section are combined into one appliance, avoiding the separate tank and outdoor-unit layout of a split heat pump.
Is the Rinnai Enviroflo 315L Right for My Home?
A Good Choice If...
You already own an EHPA315VMA, are assessing an existing installation or have access to legitimate remaining stock and the property suits a large integrated heat pump.
Consider a Current Model If...
You are purchasing a completely new heat pump today. Rinnai's current 315L split range and other current-generation systems should be compared before relying on a discontinued integrated model.
JR Should Check First If...
You need to replace an existing EHPA315VMA, are converting from another hot-water technology or want to know whether the current Rinnai split range is a practical replacement.
How Many People Does the Rinnai Enviroflo 315L Suit?
Rinnai's published sizing guide places the EHPA315VMA at up to approximately six people, around three bathrooms and five bedrooms.
That should still be treated as a guide rather than a guaranteed household capacity.
Long showers, baths, high-flow fixtures and several bathrooms being used at once can substantially increase hot-water demand.
A 315L storage tank provides a substantial hot-water buffer, while the heat pump reheats the stored water as required.
How Does the Rinnai Enviroflo 315L Work?
The refrigeration circuit draws heat energy from the surrounding air and transfers it into the stored water.
The EHPA315VMA uses approximately 270g of R290 refrigerant.
Rinnai publishes a heat-pump heating capacity of approximately 5.2kW at its nominated 32.6°C ambient and 21.1°C incoming-water test condition.
At the same test point, Rinnai publishes a COP of 7.22.
The refrigeration module is rated at approximately 1.0kW electrical input, while the integrated electric element is rated at 2.4kW.
Rinnai Enviroflo 315L Operating Modes
Compatible Series 2 EHPA models use three main operating modes available through the front LED control panel.
Eco
Prioritises heat-pump operation to reduce reliance on direct electric-element heating where conditions permit.
Mid
Provides a balance between efficiency and hot-water recovery according to the system's control strategy.
Max
Prioritises stronger hot-water recovery and can make greater use of the electric element when additional heating is required.
Wi-Fi Timer Control
Compatible EHPA315VMA Series 2 units include built-in Wi-Fi connectivity.
Rinnai's documentation identifies the Smart Life – Smart Living mobile app as the supported control platform for Wi-Fi-enabled Series 2 systems.
The Wi-Fi function allows compatible timer operation to be managed remotely where the heat pump has suitable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi coverage.
The appliance can still be operated manually from its front control panel if Wi-Fi is not configured.
Can the Rinnai Enviroflo 315L Work With Rooftop Solar?
Yes. Timer control can be used to concentrate heat-pump operation into suitable daytime periods when a rooftop-solar system is generating electricity.
The PV system does not directly heat the water. Instead, rooftop solar produces electricity that can help supply the heat pump while it is running.
The potential financial benefit depends on solar-array size, normal daytime household loads, feed-in tariff and hot-water consumption.
Any external electrical control strategy should remain compatible with Rinnai's installation and operating requirements.

How Efficient Is the Rinnai Enviroflo 315L?
The EHPA315VMA was designed to use substantially less direct electrical energy for normal hot-water production than a conventional electric resistance storage cylinder.
The published COP 7.22 demonstrates strong performance under Rinnai's nominated warm-ambient test condition, but COP varies with ambient temperature, incoming-water temperature and operating mode.
It should therefore not be used as a fixed annual efficiency figure.
Likewise, broad claims about a particular percentage reduction in household electricity bills should be treated carefully. Actual savings depend on the previous water heater, household hot-water use, electricity tariff and operating schedule.
Hard Water Model
Rinnai produced both the standard EHPA315VMA and the hard-water EHPA315VMAH.
The hard-water version uses an alternative anode configuration intended for water supplies where the standard tank protection setup may not be appropriate.
Water chemistry should be considered when replacing an existing unit or sourcing service parts.
Where a property uses bore water or another non-standard supply, manufacturer water-quality requirements should be checked rather than assuming the standard tank configuration is suitable.
What Is Required to Install the Rinnai Enviroflo 315L?
Airflow, Clearance and Installation Position
The EHPA315VMA is an integrated heat pump, meaning the refrigeration module sits on the same appliance as the 315L storage cylinder.
The heat-pump section therefore cannot be independently positioned away from the tank.
The entire unit needs a suitable outdoor location with enough surrounding airflow for the evaporator and fan to operate correctly.
The unit is over two metres tall and weighs approximately 138kg before filling, so access, handling and the final supporting base are important installation considerations.
The published sound level is approximately 48dB(A), so bedrooms, neighbouring boundaries and outdoor entertaining areas should also be considered.
What's Included With Rinnai Enviroflo 315L Installation?
Replacement Assessment
Where an EHPA315VMA is being replaced, JR can assess whether another integrated heat pump or a current split system provides the better replacement pathway.
Installation & Commissioning
Where suitable product is available, installation includes positioning, plumbing and electrical connection, valve and drainage checks, testing and commissioning according to the agreed package.
Possible Additional Work
Electrical upgrades, new pressure-control valves, drainage alterations, pipework changes, base work, difficult access or relocation can increase installation scope.
How Much Does Rinnai Enviroflo 315L Installation Cost?
The original JR product is now sold out, so historical pricing should not be treated as a current supplied-and-installed price.
If an existing EHPA315VMA needs replacement, the final cost depends on the replacement heat pump selected, existing electrical supply, plumbing, valves, drainage, access and whether the existing installation position can be reused.
Moving from the discontinued integrated system to one of Rinnai's current split 315L models can also change the installation layout because the storage tank and heat-pump module become separate components.
Current pricing should therefore be taken from JR's live heat-pump range rather than the old EHPA315VMA product price.
Rinnai Enviroflo 315L Replacement Brisbane
JR Gas & Water can assess replacement options for existing Rinnai Enviroflo EHPA315VMA systems in Brisbane.
An existing installation can provide useful plumbing, electrical and drainage infrastructure, but the replacement system should still be checked for physical dimensions, airflow requirements and electrical compatibility.
If the current Rinnai split range is selected, the site also needs a suitable location for the separate outdoor heat-pump module.
Eligible service coverage extends across Greater Brisbane and surrounding areas including Logan, Ipswich, Redlands and Moreton Bay.
Rinnai Enviroflo 315L Replacement Gold Coast
JR Gas & Water can also assess replacement options for existing Rinnai Enviroflo 315L heat pumps on the Gold Coast.
Because the old EHPA315VMA is discontinued, the best replacement may be a current Rinnai split heat pump or another current high-capacity heat-pump system.
JR can assess household demand, access, electrical supply, drainage and available outdoor-unit locations before recommending the replacement path.
Can the Rinnai Enviroflo 315L Replace My Existing Hot Water System?
Replacing Electric Storage
The EHPA315VMA was originally suited to large electric-storage upgrades, although a current heat pump should now normally be considered because this model is discontinued.
Replacing Another EHPA315VMA
A current-generation system can often reuse parts of the existing plumbing and electrical infrastructure, subject to assessment.
Replacing Gas Hot Water
Gas-to-heat-pump conversion requires suitable electrical infrastructure and licensed treatment of redundant gas services.
Replacing Solar Hot Water
Solar-to-heat-pump conversion may require roof-system isolation or removal together with plumbing changes.
Moving to a Current Split Rinnai
The separate tank and outdoor module create more positioning flexibility but also require an interconnecting pipe route.
Relocating the System
Relocation can require new pipework, electrical cabling, condensate drainage, relief drainage and supporting-base work.
