    What is an STC?

STC stands for Small-scale Technology Certificate. It is part of an Australian Government scheme designed to encourage energy-efficient hot water systems and other eligible renewable technologies.

    How does it work?

When your new system qualifies, STCs are created based on the expected energy savings and location of the installation. These certificates have a value, and that value is applied as an upfront discount to help reduce the installed cost.

How is it shown on our jobs?

For eligible systems, the STC value is already included as a flat rate $1000 upfront discount in the total installed price shown, so you do not need to claim it separately after installation.

    Who is eligible?

Eligibility generally applies to installations of approved systems at Australian homes and businesses where the product, property type, and installation details meet current STC program requirements.

If you are unsure whether your property or system qualifies, contact us before ordering and we can help confirm it.

You use bore or unusual water, need the tank indoors, require long interconnecting pipework, have restricted access or are converting from gas or solar hot water.

Glass-Lined or Stainless Steel: Which Reclaim 250L Is This?

This product is the REHP-KY-CO2-250GL glass-lined V1.1 configuration using the RE250AGLH storage cylinder.

It is different from the separate REHP-KY-CO2-250SST stainless system, which uses the APS250TH tank.

This Product: 250L Glass-Lined

RE250AGLH, 259L physical volume, 613mm diameter, 1439mm height and 850kPa PTRV rating.

Separate 250L Stainless Model

APS250TH, 280L physical volume, 565mm diameter, 1800mm height and 700kPa PTRV rating.

Important correction: the older page described this GL product as using the APS250TH stainless tank. Reclaim's current model mapping confirms APS250TH belongs to the separate stainless configuration.

How Does the Reclaim CO2 Heat Pump Work?

Cooler water from the lower section of the storage tank circulates to the Panasonic HE-UM60AR outdoor unit. The heat pump absorbs thermal energy from the surrounding air and transfers that energy into the water through its R744 CO2 refrigeration circuit.

Heated water then returns to the upper section of the tank. Reclaim publishes a heat-pump hot-water delivery range of approximately 63–67°C, depending on heat-pump inlet-water temperature.

This top-down heating arrangement helps establish usable hot water toward the top of the tank while the remainder of the cylinder continues through the heating cycle.

How it works: cooler tank water → Panasonic CO2 heat pump → energy collected from outdoor air → water heated → hot water returned toward the top of the glass-lined tank.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

What Is Required to Install the Reclaim CO2 250L?

Outdoor heat-pump location with sufficient airflow and practical servicing access.

Appropriate clear space around the Panasonic unit in accordance with Reclaim's current installation layout.

Heat pump installed on a suitable stand where required so condensate can drain correctly.

Tank installed vertically at ground or floor level on an appropriate support base.

Safe condensate drainage from the outdoor heat-pump unit.

Safety tray and suitable drainage where the glass-lined tank is installed indoors.

Electrical provision suitable for the HE-UM60AR, with Reclaim publishing a 15A circuit-breaker size.

Correct V1.1 controller power supply as required by the installation instructions.

Correct insulated flow-and-return pipework between the RE250AGLH tank and heat pump.

No more than five bends in the heat-pump interconnecting circuit under the V1.1 installation manual.

Tempering protection where required because the system produces water above normal sanitary delivery temperatures.

Water pressure and chemistry within manufacturer requirements for the glass-lined storage system.

Tank-to-heat-pump distance: Reclaim's current V1.1 installation manual specifies a maximum of 10m horizontal and 3m vertical with no more than five bends. Its current residential tank specification separately lists 10m horizontal and 5m vertical. Because those manufacturer documents conflict, the vertical separation for the exact proposed layout should be confirmed before installation.

Reclaim Water Quality Requirements

Water chemistry can affect the heat-pump water circuit, glass-lined cylinder, sacrificial anode and manufacturer warranty conditions. Reclaim publishes water-quality thresholds that should be considered where supply quality is uncertain.

Water Characteristic Reclaim Published Requirement
Total Dissolved Solids Less than 600mg/L or ppm
Total Hardness as CaCO3 Less than 200mg/L or ppm
Electrical Conductivity 850 µS/cm
Chloride Less than 200mg/L or ppm
pH 6.5–8.5
Magnesium Less than 10mg/L or ppm
Sodium Less than 150mg/L or ppm
Iron Less than 1mg/L or ppm
Alkalinity as CaCO3 Less than 200mg/L or ppm
Dissolved Free CO2 Less than 25mg/L or ppm
Non-standard supplies: bore water, highly mineralised water and other unusual supplies should be checked against Reclaim's complete current water-quality requirements before the final system is selected.

Glass-Lined Tank Maintenance

Sacrificial Anode

Reclaim specifies an initial glass-lined tank anode inspection after five years and then every three years thereafter.

PTRV Testing

Reclaim recommends manually testing the pressure-temperature relief valve every six months to help flush deposits and verify normal relief operation.

Heat Pump Airflow

Keep the Panasonic heat-pump air path clear of vegetation, stored equipment and other obstructions.

Service access matters: the tank position needs to allow future sacrificial-anode removal as well as normal access to the PTRV, plumbing and heat-pump components.

What's Included With Reclaim CO2 250L Installation?

Standard Installation

The selected JR installation package covers the applicable standard labour and materials where the existing services, access and proposed tank and heat-pump positions satisfy that package's conditions.

Commissioning

The system is filled and purged, controller settings are configured and the heat pump, interconnecting circuit, valves, drainage and normal operation are checked before completion.

Possible Additional Work

Electrical alterations, pressure-control work, extra valves, longer pipework, drainage, new bases, relocation, restricted access or special indoor-tank requirements can change the final installation scope.

How Much Does Reclaim CO2 250L Installation Cost?

Current supplied-and-installed pricing remains in JR's live product and installation selector above. This keeps the system price, package scope, current availability, STC treatment and booking options inside JR's live Shopify product logic.

Installation cost varies according to the existing hot-water system, electrical supply, pressure-control requirements, valves, access, tank base, heat-pump position, drainage and interconnecting pipe length.

A straightforward replacement where suitable services already exist will generally have a different installation scope from a gas conversion, solar replacement, indoor tank installation or substantial relocation.

BRISBANE INSTALLATION

Reclaim CO2 250L Installation Brisbane

JR Gas & Water supplies and installs the Reclaim CO2 250L Glass-Lined V1.1 system in Brisbane for eligible electric-storage replacements, heat-pump upgrades and suitable conversions from other hot-water technologies.

The RE250AGLH is approximately 613mm in diameter and 1439mm high, so access and the final cylinder position should be checked before installation. Its comparatively compact height can suit sites where a taller 315L or stainless cylinder is less practical.

The separate Panasonic outdoor unit then needs a position with appropriate ventilation, condensate drainage and future service access.

JR services eligible Brisbane properties together with Logan, Ipswich, Redlands, Moreton Bay and surrounding South East Queensland service areas.

GOLD COAST INSTALLATION

Reclaim CO2 250L Installation Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water also supplies and installs the Reclaim CO2 250L V1.1 on the Gold Coast where household demand, site access and installation conditions suit the system.

The outdoor Panasonic heat pump should be positioned with airflow, nearby bedrooms, neighbouring properties and coastal exposure considered alongside normal plumbing and electrical requirements.

Because this version uses a glass-lined storage tank, future access to the sacrificial anode should also be considered when the final cylinder position is selected.

Can the Reclaim CO2 250L Replace My Existing Hot Water System?

Replacing Electric Storage

This can be a practical upgrade where the site can accommodate the glass-lined storage cylinder, separate outdoor heat pump and required electrical provision.

Replacing Another Heat Pump

An existing heat pump may be replaced with the Reclaim split system, but electrical supply, tank position, drainage and new interconnecting pipework still need assessment.

Replacing Gas Hot Water

A gas-to-heat-pump conversion normally involves new electrical provision and changed plumbing together with appropriate work to the redundant gas hot-water installation.

Replacing Solar Hot Water

A solar system can be converted, but the old cylinder, collectors, booster arrangement, solar plumbing and removal requirements should form part of the final scope.

Reclaim CO2 250L vs 315L Glass-Lined

The same Panasonic V1.1 heat-pump platform can be paired with different Reclaim glass-lined storage tanks. The key difference is stored-water capacity and cylinder size.

Specification 250L Glass-Lined 315L Glass-Lined
System REHP-KY-CO2-250GL REHP-KY-CO2-315GL
Tank RE250AGLH AP315AGLH / RE315AGLH
Total Physical Volume 259L 323L
Diameter 613mm 617mm
Height 1439mm 1765mm
PTRV Rating 850kPa 850kPa
V1.1 Heat Pump Panasonic HE-UM60AR Panasonic HE-UM60AR
Main Difference More compact storage for lower household demand. Approximately 64L additional physical storage for greater demand.

How Efficient Is the Reclaim CO2 V1.1?

Reclaim publishes a COP of 6.09 at 32.5°C ambient and 21°C incoming water. Under that same test condition, the HE-UM60AR produces 5.06kW of heat while drawing 0.83kW of electrical input.

Real-world COP changes with outside temperature, incoming-water temperature, cycling, defrost operation, pipe heat loss and controller scheduling.

The published COP should therefore be used as a manufacturer performance point rather than interpreted as a guarantee of a particular household electricity saving.

Efficiency takeaway: under suitable conditions the Reclaim heat pump can deliver substantially more heat energy than the electrical energy it consumes, while the controller provides several ways to schedule operation around solar-generation or tariff periods.
