PURETEC SEDIMENT FILTER REPLACEMENT

Puretec PL05MP1 Replacement Brisbane & Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water supplies and fits genuine Puretec PL05MP1 replacement cartridges across eligible Brisbane and Gold Coast properties with compatible rainwater, whole-house and Puretec Hybrid filtration systems.

The PL05MP1 is a 5-micron, 4.5-inch × 10-inch MaxiPlus™ washable pleated sediment cartridge manufactured from durable reusable polyester media.

Its large pleated surface area provides high dirt-holding capacity, making it particularly useful as a first filtration stage ahead of carbon treatment, finer sediment filtration or ultraviolet disinfection equipment.

Puretec PL05MP1 at a glance: this is a nominal 5-micron washable MaxiPlus™ sediment cartridge with a manufacturer-published individual flow rating of 90 L/min. Puretec uses it as Stage 1 in systems including EM2-60/65, Hybrid G6/R1, Hybrid E6 and the three-stage Hybrid G12/R10 filtration train.

Puretec PL05MP1 at a Glance

Micron Rating 5 Micron
Cartridge Size 4.5" × 10"

Individual Flow 90 L/min

What Is the Puretec PL05MP1?

The PL05MP1 is a reusable pleated sediment cartridge designed for compatible Puretec MaxiPlus™ 10-inch filter housings and filtration systems.

Puretec manufactures the filter media from durable non-woven polyester fabric pleated around a polypropylene core. The ends of the pleated media are embedded and sealed to form the cartridge assembly, while the overlap seam is sonically welded to help reduce internal bypass.

Large Surface Area

Pleating creates a large filtration area for sediment capture and high dirt-holding capacity.

Washable Construction

The reusable polyester media can be cleaned where the cartridge remains structurally sound and suitable for continued service.

5-Micron Filtration

The nominal 5-micron rating provides relatively fine sediment pre-filtration while retaining the benefits of washable pleated media.

What Does the Puretec PL05MP1 Filter?

Dirt & Sediment

The PL05MP1 is designed primarily for suspended sediment filtration.

Rust, Sand & Silt

The pleated media helps capture common particulate before it reaches downstream treatment or household plumbing.

Pre-Filtration

Puretec specifically positions the PL Series for pre-filtration in higher-sediment applications.

The PL05MP1 is a sediment cartridge, not a carbon filter. It should not be promoted as a standalone chlorine, PFAS, fluoride, taste-and-odour, heavy-metal or dissolved-chemical treatment cartridge.

Why Use a Washable Pleated Sediment Cartridge?

Reusable Where Suitable

Surface sediment can be cleaned from the pleated media where the cartridge remains in suitable physical condition.

High Dirt-Holding Capacity

The large pleated surface helps distribute sediment loading across more filter media.

Durable Media

Puretec describes the polyester construction as resistant to bacterial and chemical attack for compatible filtration applications.

Washable does not mean permanent. Cleaning can help manage sediment loading, but the cartridge should still be replaced when its condition or filtration performance indicates it has reached the end of useful service life.

The 90 L/min specification is for the individual PL05MP1 cartridge. Complete-system flow depends on the installed housings, companion cartridges, pipework, pressure, pumps, valves and any UV treatment equipment.

Which Puretec Systems Use the PL05MP1?

Puretec System PL05MP1 Role Other Main Service Components
EM2-60 / EM2-65 Stage 1 sediment DP10MP1 Stage 2
Hybrid G6 / R1 Stage 1 sediment DP10MP1 + UV lamp + quartz sleeve
Hybrid E6 Stage 1 sediment DP10MP1 + UV treatment components
Hybrid G12 / R10 Stage 1 sediment CB05MP1 + PX01MP1 + UV lamp + quartz sleeve
A PL05MP1 replacement is not always a complete system service. The cartridge is used in several multi-stage systems, so the exact installed model determines which other cartridges and UV components must also be maintained.

PL05MP1 in the Puretec EM2-60

The Puretec EM2-60 uses two 10-inch MaxiPlus™ cartridges:

  1. Stage 1 — PL05MP1: washable nominal 5-micron pleated sediment filtration.
  2. Stage 2 — DP10MP1: dual-purpose sediment and carbon-impregnated taste-and-odour treatment.

Puretec rates the complete EM2-60 at 60 L/min. The system uses the PL05MP1 to manage sediment before water reaches the DP10MP1 second stage.

Complete EM2-60 service: where both stages are due, JR also offers the PL05MP1 + DP10MP1 combination as an EM2-60 service kit rather than treating the PL05MP1 as the entire system service.

PL05MP1 in Puretec Hybrid E6 & G6 Systems

Puretec uses the PL05MP1 as the first filtration stage in compatible 10-inch Hybrid UV systems.

In the current Hybrid E6, PL05MP1 is followed by DP10MP1 before water passes through the separate ultraviolet treatment chamber. The Hybrid G6 uses the same basic filtration pair with its own UV components.

The PL05MP1 does not provide UV disinfection. In Hybrid systems, microbiological treatment is performed by the UV stage. Replacing PL05MP1 alone does not replace an ageing UV lamp, clean or replace the quartz sleeve or renew the second cartridge.

PL05MP1 in Puretec Hybrid G12 & R10

Puretec also specifies the PL05MP1 as Stage 1 in the larger three-cartridge Hybrid G12 and R10 filtration sequence.

  1. PL05MP1: 5-micron washable sediment filtration.
  2. CB05MP1: carbon treatment.
  3. PX01MP1: fine 1-micron sediment filtration.
  4. UV treatment: separate lamp and quartz-sleeve components.
Complete-system maintenance matters. A new PL05MP1 does not restore the treatment capacity of the carbon stage, fine-sediment stage or UV components in a G12/R10 system.

Who Is the Puretec PL05MP1 Best For?

Existing Puretec Systems

Best where the installed system specifically lists PL05MP1 as the required replacement cartridge.

Rainwater Pre-Filtration

Puretec uses PL05MP1 in several rainwater systems where suspended sediment needs to be reduced ahead of additional treatment.

Higher Sediment Applications

The washable pleated construction makes it useful where larger sediment loads need to be managed without immediately moving to disposable depth media.

When Should JR Check the System First?

Unknown System Model

If the existing housing or system cannot be identified, confirm compatibility before selecting a replacement cartridge.

Very Low Water Flow

A blocked sediment cartridge can reduce flow, but pumps, valves, pressure controls or other filters can also be responsible.

Rainwater Quality Concerns

If microbiological quality or source-water suitability is uncertain, sediment filtration alone may not be sufficient treatment.

What Happens During a Puretec PL05MP1 Replacement?

  • Confirm the exact installed Puretec system
  • Confirm PL05MP1 compatibility
  • Isolate the incoming water supply
  • Relieve pressure from the filter housing
  • Remove the existing cartridge
  • Inspect the accessible filter bowl
  • Inspect the O-ring and sealing surface
  • Clean the accessible housing where required
  • Install the genuine PL05MP1 correctly
  • Reassemble the housing
  • Restore water pressure gradually
  • Check accessible joints for leakage
  • Flush the serviced filter where required
  • Check whether companion filtration stages are also due
Routine cartridge replacement does not automatically repair other faults. Cracked housings, worn O-rings, leaking valves, pump faults, UV faults, pressure-control issues or unrelated plumbing defects can require additional work.

What's Included With JR PL05MP1 Replacement?

Genuine Puretec PL05MP1

The replacement is matched using the genuine Puretec cartridge code rather than relying only on physical cartridge size.

Fitted Cartridge Replacement

For a compatible and serviceable installation, JR can remove the old cartridge, fit the replacement, restore pressure and check the serviced housing.

Additional Repairs if Required

Housing, seal, valve, pump, UV, pressure-control or related plumbing faults may require separate parts or labour.

The live JR selector above is the source of truth. Use the current package options for exact fitted pricing, service-area availability, appointment timing and package-specific inclusions.

How Much Does Puretec PL05MP1 Replacement Cost?

Current fitted pricing is displayed in JR's live selector above. The live selector should remain the pricing source rather than placing a fixed historical amount into this product description.

A standard replacement assumes the existing filtration equipment is accessible, correctly identified and fundamentally serviceable.

If the system requires housing, O-ring, valve, pump, UV, pressure-control or connected plumbing repairs, additional work may be required outside routine cartridge replacement.

BRISBANE FILTER CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT

Puretec PL05MP1 Replacement Brisbane

JR Gas & Water supplies and fits genuine Puretec PL05MP1 cartridges across eligible Brisbane properties with compatible rainwater, whole-house and Hybrid filtration systems.

Because the PL05MP1 is used across several different Puretec platforms, identifying the host system matters. An EM2-60 has a different complete maintenance requirement from a Hybrid E6 or Hybrid G12.

Eligible JR service coverage also extends through Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and Redlands.

GOLD COAST FILTER CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT

Puretec PL05MP1 Replacement Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water also provides fitted PL05MP1 replacement across eligible Gold Coast properties with compatible Puretec filtration equipment.

Tank condition, roof and gutter debris, first-flush performance, rainfall, pump operation and household water use can all influence how quickly a pleated sediment cartridge becomes loaded.

If system flow has reduced or service is overdue, the PL05MP1 and any downstream filtration or UV components should be assessed together.

How Often Does the Puretec PL05MP1 Need Servicing?

The replacement interval depends on the system in which the PL05MP1 is installed.

Puretec's WH/EM maintenance guide specifies cartridge replacement every 6–12 months for compatible EM systems, with approximately six-month replacement suggested to maintain higher filtered-water quality depending on water quality and usage.

Puretec's Hybrid maintenance guidance is more specific for those UV systems and calls for filtration cartridges to be replaced approximately every 6 months.

Sediment Loading

Higher dirt, rust, sand and silt loads can fill the pleated surface more quickly.

Reduced Water Flow

As the cartridge loads, pressure drop can increase and system flow can fall.

Host-System Schedule

The service interval should follow the maintenance requirements of the exact EM, Hybrid or other filtration system installed.

O-ring maintenance: Puretec's WH/EM guide recommends replacing filter-housing O-rings approximately every 3–5 years to help maintain a watertight seal, or sooner where damage is found.

How Do You Clean a PL05MP1?

The PL05MP1 is specifically designed as a washable cartridge. Surface sediment can be cleaned from the pleated polyester media where the cartridge remains physically sound.

Cleaning can help restore available surface area between replacements, particularly where the source water carries higher sediment levels.

A cartridge that is damaged, permanently restricted, deformed or no longer restoring acceptable performance should be replaced rather than repeatedly reused.

Cleaning the PL05MP1 does not service downstream filters. Washing this first-stage cartridge does not renew DP10MP1, CB05MP1, PX01MP1, UV lamps or quartz sleeves installed later in the treatment train.

🚫 Unnecessary Contaminants in Rainwater

Contaminant Why It’s Unnecessary or Harmful? Ideal Level
Fluoride (F⁻) Not naturally present in rainwater. Studies (Harvard, U.S. EPA) link prolonged fluoride exposure to lower IQ, thyroid dysfunction, and skeletal issues. 0 mg/L
Copper (Cu) Exceeds safe limit. Likely from corroding pipes or roofing. High levels can cause metallic taste and health risks. < 0.5 mg/L
pH (Acidic Water) Slightly too low. Acidic water can cause pipe corrosion and leach metals like copper into the water. 6.5 - 7.5
Alkalinity Low alkalinity can make water unstable and prone to pH fluctuations. 20 - 50 mg/L

Home and Plumbing Impacts

🔹 Total Hardness (8 mg/L in rainwater): Extremely soft water, which can be corrosive to pipes, leading to potential metal leaching from plumbing.

🔹 Iron & Manganese (Rainwater: Iron 0.03 mg/L, Manganese 0.009 mg/L): Low but can cause sediment buildup over time if not filtered.

🔹 Copper (2.24 mg/L in rainwater): High levels may indicate corrosion in metal roofing or pipes, leading to health and plumbing concerns.
