COMMON QUESTIONS
Rheem Kitchen Controller Installation FAQs
What is the current Rheem Kitchen Controller model?
Rheem's current Kitchen Temperature Controller including cable is model 299850. The controller-only version is model 299853.
What temperature can the Rheem Kitchen Controller be set to?
The maximum depends on the connected water-heater series. Current Rheem 874-series systems can allow a Kitchen controller setting up to 60°C, while 876-series systems are limited to 50°C.
Does the Rheem Kitchen Controller adjust in 1°C increments?
The controller moves through the temperature settings programmed for the connected water-heater series. Some parts of the range use one-degree steps, while upper settings can use different increments, so the exact Rheem owner's guide should be followed.
Why can some Rheem Kitchen Controllers reach 60°C?
Rheem 874-series continuous-flow systems are designed to allow hotter water to suitable kitchen and laundry outlets. With a compatible Kitchen controller fitted, the current 874 A-series documentation permits a maximum Kitchen-controller setting of 60°C.
Can the Kitchen Controller be used by itself?
Yes, on a compatible single-water-heater installation. Bathroom controllers are optional rather than mandatory.
Can I use a Kitchen Controller with Bathroom Controllers?
Yes, on compatible systems. Rheem provides Kitchen, Bathroom 1 and Bathroom 2 standard controllers and uses controller-priority logic to coordinate temperature control.
Can JR retrofit a Kitchen Controller to my existing Rheem system?
Potentially. JR should first confirm the exact Rheem continuous-flow model, whether compatible controller cabling already exists and whether the current hot-water configuration supports standard Rheem controllers.
Is the controller compatible with every Rheem continuous-flow installation?
Rheem describes its standard controllers as suitable across its continuous-flow range, but installation-specific restrictions still apply. Manifolded systems, circulation arrangements, solar boosters and some older configurations require individual checking.
Can it be installed on a manifolded or solar-boosted system?
Not automatically. Rheem's current 874/876 A-series instructions state that standard controllers are for single-water-heater installations and must not be fitted to an 874-series unit operating as an in-series solar booster.
Where should the Rheem Kitchen Controller be installed?
Rheem specifies a suitable dry indoor kitchen or laundry location away from wet areas, cooking heat, steam, direct sunlight and outdoor weather exposure.
What warranty does the Rheem Kitchen Controller have?
Rheem's current Australian product page for model 299850 lists a one-year manufacturer warranty, subject to Rheem's applicable warranty conditions.
How much does Rheem Kitchen Controller installation cost in Brisbane or the Gold Coast?
