COMMON QUESTIONS
Rheem Bathroom Controller Installation FAQs
What is the current Rheem Bathroom 1 controller model?
Rheem's current Bathroom 1 Temperature Controller with cable is model 299851. Rheem also lists 299854 as the Bathroom 1 controller-only product.
What temperature can the Rheem Bathroom Controller be set to?
Rheem specifies a minimum Bathroom-controller setting of 37°C and a maximum of 50°C. The exact intermediate selectable steps can depend on the connected Rheem continuous-flow series.
Does it adjust in 1°C increments?
Rheem controllers move through the available programmed temperature increments. Depending on the water-heater series, one-degree increments are available through part of the range, while the upper settings can use different steps. It is therefore better to follow the exact owner's guide than assume every value from 37°C to 50°C is selectable in one-degree steps.
Can I install just one Bathroom controller?
Yes, on a compatible system. Where only one standard Bathroom controller is installed, Rheem specifies the Bathroom 1 controller.
Can I have controllers in two bathrooms?
Compatible Rheem systems can use Bathroom 1 and Bathroom 2 controllers. Rheem provides a separate Bathroom 2 controller, model 299852 with cable.
Can I also have a Rheem Kitchen controller?
Yes on compatible configurations. The Kitchen controller and Bathroom controllers have different roles and temperature limits, with controller priority determining which temperature setting is active.
Is the Rheem Bathroom Controller compatible with every Rheem gas system?
Rheem positions its Standard controllers for its continuous-flow range, but exact compatibility still depends on the series and installation configuration. Some manifolded, circulated or solar-booster arrangements have restrictions.
Can it be fitted to a non-Rheem continuous-flow heater?
Rheem installation documentation specifies Rheem controllers for compatible Rheem continuous-flow systems and states that other manufacturers' controllers are not suitable for the applicable Rheem water heaters.
Can JR retrofit a controller to my existing Rheem unit?
Potentially. JR should first confirm the exact water-heater model, existing controller setup and whether a suitable controller-cable route can be provided.
Does the controller replace a tempering valve?
Not automatically. Temperature-controller operation and plumbing temperature-limiting requirements are separate matters. The correct plumbing arrangement depends on the water-heater model and installation.
How much does Rheem Bathroom Controller installation cost?
Use JR's live selector above for current replacement-controller and new-installation pricing. New cabling or unusual access can alter the installation scope.
Can JR install a Rheem Bathroom Controller in Brisbane or the Gold Coast?
JR Gas & Water installs compatible Rheem hot-water accessories across eligible Brisbane, Gold Coast and surrounding South East Queensland service areas. Final suitability depends on the installed water heater and controller configuration.
