    What is an STC?

STC stands for Small-scale Technology Certificate. It is part of an Australian Government scheme designed to encourage energy-efficient hot water systems and other eligible renewable technologies.

    How does it work?

When your new system qualifies, STCs are created based on the expected energy savings and location of the installation. These certificates have a value, and that value is applied as an upfront discount to help reduce the installed cost.

How is it shown on our jobs?

For eligible systems, the STC value is already included as a flat rate $1000 upfront discount in the total installed price shown, so you do not need to claim it separately after installation.

    Who is eligible?

Eligibility generally applies to installations of approved systems at Australian homes and businesses where the product, property type, and installation details meet current STC program requirements.

If you are unsure whether your property or system qualifies, contact us before ordering and we can help confirm it.

RHEEM AMBIPOWER SPLIT WI-FI HEAT PUMP INSTALLATION

Rheem AmbiPower 2.9kW Split 325L Stainless Steel Wi-Fi Installation Brisbane & Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water supplies and professionally installs the Rheem AmbiPower 2.9kW Split Heat Pump paired with a 325L stainless steel storage tank and EcoNet Wi-Fi control across Brisbane and the Gold Coast for suitable replacements, upgrades and new hot water installations.

This configuration separates the heat pump module from the storage cylinder. The larger stainless steel tank provides more stored water than the 180L option, giving households a greater reserve between heating periods while retaining separate equipment placement.

JR checks the proposed positions of both components, connection routes, household demand, water quality, power, airflow and drainage before recommending the installation scope. The 2.9kW designation describes the heat pump configuration; it should not be used to size the electrical circuit or identify an element rating.

JR services Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Logan, Ipswich, Redlands, Moreton Bay and surrounding eligible South East Queensland service areas. Scenic Rim installations are available by quote.

Rheem AmbiPower 2.9kW split 325L stainless steel Wi-Fi installation at a glance: This smart heat pump pairs a separate heat pump module with a 325L stainless steel storage cylinder and EcoNet app connectivity. JR assesses both equipment locations, connecting services and daily hot water demand. The larger tank offers more stored reserve than the 180L option, with adequate recovery still needed for repeated high usage.

Best Suited To

Households wanting larger heat pump storage, stainless steel construction and separate equipment placement.

Installation Area

Brisbane, Gold Coast and surrounding eligible South East Queensland service areas.

Installation Type

Split heat pump installation with both component locations, connecting services, airflow and drainage assessed.

Who Is the Rheem AmbiPower 325L Stainless Split Best For?

Families Wanting More Stored Hot Water

The 325L tank is worth considering where the household wants a larger reserve for morning showers, evening use or visiting guests. JR reviews the busiest usage period and available recovery before recommending the capacity.

Properties Needing Separate Equipment Placement

A split layout allows the storage tank and heat pump module to be considered separately during site planning. The final positions still depend on the approved connections, installation limits and access requirements.

Solar Homes Planning Daytime Heating

Daytime heating may help a solar home use more of its own electricity. The larger tank can store more hot water for later use, provided the chosen heating period allows sufficient recovery.

PRODUCT SUITABILITY

Is the Rheem AmbiPower 325L Split Wi-Fi Right for My Home?

A Good Choice If...

You want heat pump water heating, prefer the 325L stainless steel tank and have suitable positions for the separate module and cylinder. The larger reserve should fit the household's demand and available recovery periods.

Consider Another Option If...

Your proposed layout lacks room for the cylinder or the separate module. Very high demand, limited heating periods or repeated baths and showers should also be assessed before selecting this configuration.

JR Should Check First If...

The heat pump position lacks airflow, connection routes are difficult, an indoor cylinder position is proposed, water quality needs review or the existing electrical supply needs alteration.

How Many People Does the Rheem AmbiPower 325L Split Suit?

Choose the 325L stainless steel tank by the household's actual hot water use. Occupant count alone does not account for shower length, baths, appliances or how much recovery is available between busy periods.

JR reviews consecutive showers, bathroom use, guests and other demand before recommending the capacity. The 325L option provides more stored water than the 180L tank, but repeated heavy use can still deplete its reserve.

Restricted heating periods reduce the opportunity to recover between uses. JR compares the available heating time with daily demand; households with lower use can also consider the 180L stainless steel configuration, while 315L vitreous enamel is another tank option in this split range.

How Does the Rheem AmbiPower 2.9kW Split Heat Pump Work?

Input: Electricity operates the heat pump equipment while outdoor air supplies heat for water heating.

Operation: The separate module collects heat from the air and transfers it into the water stored in the matched cylinder. Its air inlet and outlet need clear space, and the connections between components must follow the exact installation guide.

Result: The 325L stainless steel cylinder stores hot water for showers, bathrooms, kitchens and laundry, with recovery managed by the system controls.

The heat pump and cylinder form one matched installation. JR plans the equipment positions and services together, then sets up operation around household demand and the available heating periods.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

What Is Required to Install the AmbiPower 325L Stainless Split?

The split configuration needs a suitable position for the heat pump module and a compatible location for the storage tank. JR checks both components, the route between them, electrical services, water connections, airflow and drainage before confirming the package.

Suitable positions for both components
Stable support for module and cylinder
Clear heat pump air inlet and outlet
Service access and considered fan placement
Approved connections between components
Compatible hot and cold water services
Required pressure-control valves
Compliant relief-valve drainage
Heat pump condensate drainage
Electrical connection, protection and isolation

Licensed installation and commissioning

A licensed electrician confirms the electrical requirements of the supplied module, cylinder and controls. Existing tank wiring does not establish that the new arrangement is suitable. JR also checks the manufacturer's installation limits before agreeing to a particular separation or cylinder position.

What's Included With Rheem AmbiPower 325L Split Installation?

Supply & Selected Package

The product and installation options above show the available package. Choose the scope that matches the existing system and the proposed positions of the heat pump module and 325L stainless steel cylinder.

Installation & Commissioning

The selected package can include plumbing, required electrical work, matched-system commissioning, testing and relevant compliance work according to the scope purchased through the live selector.

Possible Additional Work

Longer connection routes, relocation, electrical alterations, condensate drainage, unusual access, support bases or pressure-control upgrades can increase the installation scope.

Depending on the selected package, installation may include valve replacement, pipework, insulation, drainage improvements, old-system disposal, support bases and applicable compliance documentation.

Use the live selector to confirm purchased inclusions, electrical scope, app setup assistance and any STC allowance and associated requirements shown in the selected package.

How Much Does Rheem AmbiPower 325L Stainless Split Installation Cost?

Current supplied-and-installed pricing is shown in the live product and installation package selector above. Choose the options that match your existing system to see the relevant scope and available installation dates.

Split installation cost depends on both equipment positions, the route between them, existing services, access, valves, pipework, support bases, condensate drainage and electrical work. A layout that requires relocation or longer connections should be quoted for the property.

Where an STC allowance is shown, it remains subject to the exact equipment combination, installation and claim requirements attached to that package. JR can provide a written quote where the proposed split layout needs a closer assessment.

3HR FREE POWER READY

Can the AmbiPower 325L Split Wi-Fi Use a 3 Hour Free Power Window?

Where a retailer offers an eligible free-power period, the connected heating schedule can be considered around that window. JR checks whether the proposed schedule can recover enough useful hot water for the household.

A short window may not be enough to recover a heavily depleted 325L tank. Heat pump recovery changes with air temperature, inlet water temperature and operating mode. A larger stored reserve does not guarantee that the entire tank can be reheated in three hours.

Keep the electrical arrangement compatible with the exact model's controls and manage preferred heating periods using approved settings. The retailer must confirm which electricity use qualifies under its plan.

Scheduling cannot guarantee free hot water. Recovery outside the preferred period and any additional heating can use paid electricity. The final strategy should leave enough hot water for the household's routine.

What Power Arrangement Does the Split Wi-Fi System Need?

JR confirms the supply arrangement against the exact matched-system installation guide. Connected control needs power available for the required operating functions; the electrical ratings must be taken from the equipment documents.

If the existing tank uses a controlled-load circuit, have the electrician assess how that supply would affect the new controls and heating schedule. Do not assume an existing off-peak arrangement supports the intended connected operation.

The 2.9kW heat pump designation is not an electrical circuit specification. The module, cylinder equipment, protection and isolation must be assessed together before existing electrical infrastructure is reused.

How Do Boost Settings and Recovery Affect Hot Water Supply?

Rheem's smart controls provide ways to adjust operation when demand changes. JR explains the available settings for the installed pairing so the household understands normal heating and any boost function.

A boost request still needs time to heat water. Its operation and electricity use depend on the supplied equipment and control settings, so it should be considered alongside the household's preferred heating schedule.

Frequent shortages are a reason to review sizing and scheduling. Plan recovery before a busy period and allow enough heating time after substantial use of the 325L stored supply.

Solar PV Scheduling and Remote Monitoring

A heat pump can operate without solar panels. For a home that has solar PV, useful daytime production can help supply its electricity use while the system stores hot water for later.

A fixed heating schedule does not measure surplus solar or ensure that all electricity comes from the panels. Weather and other household loads can change how much grid energy is required.

Use the connected information to review the household's routine. JR should assess any additional electrical control equipment for compatibility rather than assuming controls intended for ordinary element tanks suit this heat pump.

BRISBANE INSTALLATION

Rheem AmbiPower 325L Stainless Split Wi-Fi Installation Brisbane

JR Gas & Water supplies and installs the Rheem AmbiPower 2.9kW split system with the 325L stainless steel Wi-Fi tank configuration throughout Brisbane for suitable replacements, upgrades and new installations.

JR checks the heat pump position, cylinder location, connecting route, electrical services and drainage. A proposed position near bedrooms, neighbouring living areas or an enclosed passage needs careful airflow and sound assessment.

JR also services surrounding Brisbane areas including Logan, Ipswich, Redlands and Moreton Bay. The installation package should account for the complete split layout and any changes to existing services.

GOLD COAST INSTALLATION

Rheem AmbiPower 325L Stainless Split Wi-Fi Installation Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water also supplies and installs the Rheem AmbiPower 2.9kW split system with 325L stainless steel storage and Wi-Fi across eligible Gold Coast service areas.

For a Gold Coast home with solar PV, JR can consider daytime heating alongside morning and evening demand. The larger tank can provide a useful reserve for later use, with enough recovery time allowed in the schedule.

JR checks both equipment positions, access, electrical services, airflow, connecting pipework, water quality and drainage before confirming the supplied-and-installed package.

Can the Rheem AmbiPower 325L Split Replace My Existing System?

Replacing Electric Storage

An existing cylinder location is a starting point. The new split installation also needs a suitable module position and approved connections between the components.

Replacing a Controlled-Load Tank

JR should review the existing supply against the new controls and planned operating periods before confirming the electrical scope.

Replacing Another Heat Pump

An existing heat pump layout still needs checking. Connections, component dimensions, installation limits and controls can differ between systems.

Upgrading to More Storage

Moving from a smaller tank to 325L storage can increase the stored reserve. JR checks available space, daily use and recovery requirements before recommending the upgrade.

Changing From Gas

A gas-to-heat-pump conversion can require new electrical services and changes to equipment positions, plumbing and drainage.

Reviewing an Indoor Cylinder Position

JR checks whether the supplied cylinder is approved for the proposed indoor position, including support, drainage and access. The heat pump module needs a suitable air source.

Which AmbiPower 2.9kW Split Tank Configuration Do I Need?

325L Stainless Steel Wi-Fi

The configuration described here pairs the 2.9kW split heat pump with the larger 325L stainless steel tank. JR assesses its stored reserve and recovery against household demand.

180L Stainless Steel Wi-Fi

The smaller stainless steel option is worth considering where daily demand is modest. Compare storage requirements, available space and recovery periods before choosing 180L.

315L Vitreous Enamel Wi-Fi

Rheem also identifies a 315L vitreous enamel tank pairing. Compare tank construction, capacity, water-quality suitability, maintenance and installation requirements before choosing.

How Efficient Is the Rheem AmbiPower 325L Split Heat Pump?

Heat pump water heating can use less electricity than resistance-element heating because it transfers heat from the surrounding air. Running cost also depends on electricity rates, household demand and operating conditions.

Compare performance figures for the exact 2.9kW split and 325L tank combination. Efficiency and recovery claims depend on their test conditions, and figures for another AmbiPower capacity or integrated model should not be applied to this pairing.

For a useful comparison, assess installed cost, electricity periods, solar production, servicing and daily demand together. Extra storage can provide a useful reserve, but the heating schedule still needs to replace the hot water used.

How Does the AmbiPower 325L Stainless Split Wi-Fi Compare?

Option Main Difference Best Use Case Important Consideration
AmbiPower 325L Stainless Split Wi-Fi Separate 2.9kW heat pump and larger stainless steel tank with connected control. Households wanting more stored hot water and a suitable split layout. Check demand, both component positions and the connecting route.
AmbiPower 180L Stainless Split Wi-Fi Smaller stainless steel storage within the 2.9kW smart split range. Households with modest demand and sufficient recovery time. Assess the stored reserve needed for the busiest usage period.
Conventional Electric Storage Water heating primarily uses resistance elements. Replacements where conventional storage suits the budget and site. Compare ongoing electricity consumption as well as upfront cost.

STC stands for Small-scale Technology Certificate. It’s part of the Australian Government’s Renewable Energy Target program, created to reward Australians who install eligible energy-efficient systems, such as heat pump or solar hot water systems. When a system like this is installed, it’s awarded a certain number of certificates based on its efficiency, the location of installation, and the amount of renewable energy it’s expected to produce or offset over time. Each certificate holds a monetary value, which acts as an upfront rebate.

How Do STC Rebates Work?

Rather than applying for the rebate after installation, JR Gas & Water includes the value of the STCs directly in the price shown on each product page. This means what you see is the final out-of-pocket cost to you — no separate rebate forms, no waiting, no surprises. We claim the STCs on your behalf and handle the paperwork behind the scenes so that your purchase is smooth, simple, and fully compliant.

Who Is Eligible?

You’re generally eligible for STCs if you’re installing a new, approved system at a residential or small business property within Australia. The installation must be completed by a qualified installer, and the system must meet current Australian standards. All heat pumps and solar hot water systems sold and installed by JR Gas & Water are STC-approved, and our team ensures each installation qualifies properly.

Final Word

All pricing on the JR Gas & Water website includes the STC rebate already applied, so what you see is what you pay. We manage the rebate process from start to finish, so you can enjoy a lower price without any paperwork or hassle. Whether you're upgrading your hot water system for efficiency, savings, or reliability, the STC rebate is already working in your favour — and JR makes sure it stays that way.

Estimated annual savings are calculated by comparing the heat pump’s energy efficiency (measured as COP – Coefficient of Performance) against a standard electric hot water system with a COP of 1.0. For example, if a heat pump has a COP of 4.0, it uses 75% less electricity to deliver the same amount of hot water.

Savings are based on average household usage for a family of five on Tariff 11 (general usage tariff), using manufacturer-stated COP values. The higher the COP, the greater the energy savings.

Bonus savings: When paired with a solar PV system, energy costs can drop even further — with some households seeing up to 50% additional savings, especially when the heat pump runs during solar generation times.

Disclaimer:

All estimated savings are based on manufacturer-provided COP values and standard usage assumptions (e.g. a family of five on Tariff 11). These figures are intended as a general guide to help compare different hot water units and technologies. Actual savings may vary depending on your household’s usage, energy rates, and installation conditions. We recommend conducting your own research or consulting an energy advisor to assess what’s best for your specific setup.
