    What is an STC?

STC stands for Small-scale Technology Certificate. It is part of an Australian Government scheme designed to encourage energy-efficient hot water systems and other eligible renewable technologies.

    How does it work?

When your new system qualifies, STCs are created based on the expected energy savings and location of the installation. These certificates have a value, and that value is applied as an upfront discount to help reduce the installed cost.

How is it shown on our jobs?

For eligible systems, the STC value is already included as a flat rate $1000 upfront discount in the total installed price shown, so you do not need to claim it separately after installation.

    Who is eligible?

Eligibility generally applies to installations of approved systems at Australian homes and businesses where the product, property type, and installation details meet current STC program requirements.

If you are unsure whether your property or system qualifies, contact us before ordering and we can help confirm it.

PRODUCT SUITABILITY

Is the Reclaim CO2 160L Right for My Home?

A Good Choice If...

You have relatively modest hot-water demand, want Reclaim's Panasonic CO2 split platform and need a smaller cylinder than the larger Reclaim storage options.

Consider Another Option If...

Your household regularly has several showers close together, uses large baths or has higher peak demand that would benefit from a larger stored-water reserve.

JR Should Check First If...

You use bore or another non-standard water supply, need the tank installed indoors, have restricted access, require significant tank-to-heat-pump separation or are converting from gas or solar hot water.

Glass-Lined or Stainless Steel: Which Reclaim 160L Is This?

This product is the REHP-KY-CO2-160GL glass-lined V1.1 configuration using the RE160AGLH cylinder.

It should not be confused with the separate REHP-KY-CO2-160SST stainless configuration, which uses the APS160TH tank.

This Product: 160L Glass-Lined

RE160AGLH, 163L physical volume, 528mm diameter, 1317mm height and 850kPa PTRV rating.

Separate 160L Stainless Model

APS160TH, 180L physical volume, 565mm diameter, 1200mm height and 700kPa PTRV rating.

Important correction: the older page described this GL product as using the APS160TH stainless tank. Reclaim's current V1.1 model mapping confirms that APS160TH belongs to the separate stainless configuration.

How Does the Reclaim CO2 Heat Pump Work?

Cooler water from the lower section of the storage cylinder circulates through the separate Panasonic HE-UM60AR outdoor unit. The heat pump absorbs thermal energy from surrounding air and transfers that energy into the water through its R744 CO2 refrigeration circuit.

Heated water is returned toward the upper section of the tank. Reclaim publishes a heat-pump hot-water delivery range of approximately 63–67°C, depending on the temperature of the water entering the heat pump.

This top-down heating arrangement helps establish usable hot water toward the top of the storage cylinder while the remaining water continues through the heating cycle.

How it works: cooler tank water → Panasonic CO2 heat pump → energy collected from outdoor air → water heated → hot water returned toward the top of the RE160AGLH tank.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

What Is Required to Install the Reclaim CO2 160L?

Outdoor heat-pump location with suitable ventilation and practical access for future servicing.

Correct heat-pump clearances around the Panasonic unit in accordance with the current Reclaim installation layout.

Heat pump raised on an appropriate stand where required so condensate can drain correctly.

Tank installed upright at ground or floor level on a suitable supporting base.

Safe condensate drainage from the outdoor heat-pump unit.

Safety tray and drainage protection where the glass-lined cylinder is installed indoors.

Electrical provision suitable for the HE-UM60AR, with Reclaim specifying a 15A circuit-breaker size.

Correct V1.1 controller power supply as required by the installation instructions.

Correct insulated flow-and-return plumbing between the RE160AGLH tank and Panasonic heat pump.

No more than five bends in the heat-pump interconnecting water circuit under the current V1.1 installation manual.

Tempering protection where required because the heat pump supplies water above normal sanitary delivery temperatures.

Water quality and pressure within manufacturer requirements for the Reclaim system.

Tank-to-heat-pump distance: Reclaim's current V1.1 installation manual specifies a maximum of 10m horizontal and 3m vertical with no more than five bends. Its current residential tank specification separately lists 10m horizontal and 5m vertical. Because those manufacturer documents conflict, the proposed vertical separation should be confirmed against the applicable current requirement before installation.

Reclaim Water Quality Requirements

Water chemistry can affect the heat-pump water circuit, glass-lined cylinder, sacrificial anode and manufacturer warranty conditions. Reclaim publishes specific water-quality thresholds for its CO2 systems.

Water Characteristic Reclaim Published Requirement
Total Hardness as CaCO3 Less than 200mg/L or ppm
Electrical Conductivity 850 µS/cm
Chloride Less than 200mg/L or ppm
pH 6.5–8.5
Magnesium Less than 10mg/L or ppm
Sodium Less than 150mg/L or ppm
Iron Less than 1mg/L or ppm
Alkalinity as CaCO3 Less than 200mg/L or ppm
Dissolved Free CO2 Less than 25mg/L or ppm
Non-standard water supplies: Reclaim's current installation manual specifically warns against unsuitable well water and water with excessive salt, lime or other impurities. Where water quality is uncertain, testing should be completed before product selection.

What's Included With Reclaim CO2 160L Installation?

Standard Installation

The selected JR installation package covers the applicable standard labour and materials where the existing services, access and proposed tank and heat-pump positions satisfy the package conditions.

Commissioning

The system is filled and purged, the controller is configured and the heat pump, interconnecting water circuit, valves, drainage and normal operation are checked before completion.

Possible Additional Work

Electrical alterations, pressure control, extra valves, longer pipework, drainage, new bases, relocation, difficult access or special indoor-tank requirements can alter the installation scope.

How Much Does Reclaim CO2 160L Installation Cost?

Current supplied-and-installed pricing remains in JR's live product and installation area above. This keeps product price, package scope, current availability, STC treatment and booking options controlled by JR's live Shopify logic.

Installation cost varies according to the existing hot-water system, electrical supply, pressure-control requirements, valves, access, tank position, heat-pump position, drainage and interconnecting pipe length.

A straightforward replacement where suitable services already exist will generally have a different scope from a gas conversion, solar replacement, indoor tank installation or substantial relocation.

BRISBANE INSTALLATION

Reclaim CO2 160L Installation Brisbane

JR Gas & Water supplies and installs the Reclaim CO2 160L Glass-Lined V1.1 system in Brisbane for eligible electric-storage replacements, heat-pump upgrades and suitable conversions from other hot-water technologies.

The compact RE160AGLH measures approximately 528mm in diameter and 1317mm high, which can make it useful where a larger storage cylinder would be difficult to accommodate.

The separate Panasonic outdoor unit still needs an appropriate position with airflow, condensate drainage and future servicing access, while the interconnecting water circuit must remain within the applicable Reclaim installation limits.

JR services eligible Brisbane properties and surrounding South East Queensland service areas.

GOLD COAST INSTALLATION

Reclaim CO2 160L Installation Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water also supplies and installs the Reclaim CO2 160L Glass-Lined V1.1 system on the Gold Coast where household demand, access and installation conditions suit the product.

The outdoor Panasonic unit should be positioned with airflow, nearby bedrooms, neighbouring properties, drainage and future maintenance access considered together rather than simply choosing the closest available wall position.

Because this version uses a glass-lined storage cylinder, practical future access to the sacrificial anode should also be considered when the final tank position is selected.

Can the Reclaim CO2 160L Replace My Existing Hot Water System?

Replacing Electric Storage

This can be a practical upgrade where the site can accommodate the RE160AGLH storage tank, separate outdoor heat pump and required electrical provision.

Replacing Another Heat Pump

An existing heat pump can potentially be replaced, but tank dimensions, electrical supply, drainage and the new split-system pipe route should still be checked.

Replacing Gas Hot Water

A gas-to-heat-pump conversion generally requires electrical provision and changed plumbing together with appropriate work to the existing gas hot-water installation.

Replacing Solar Hot Water

A solar hot-water system can be converted, but the old cylinder, roof collectors, booster arrangement, solar plumbing and removal requirements should form part of the final scope.

Reclaim CO2 160L vs 250L Glass-Lined

The same Panasonic V1.1 heat-pump platform can be paired with different Reclaim glass-lined cylinders. The main difference is stored-water capacity and tank dimensions.

Specification 160L Glass-Lined 250L Glass-Lined
System REHP-KY-CO2-160GL REHP-KY-CO2-250GL
Tank RE160AGLH RE250AGLH
Total Physical Volume 163L 259L
Diameter 528mm 613mm
Height 1317mm 1439mm
Empty Tank Weight 58kg 72kg
PTRV Rating 850kPa 850kPa
V1.1 Heat Pump Panasonic HE-UM60AR Panasonic HE-UM60AR
Main Difference More compact storage for lower hot-water demand. Approximately 96L additional physical storage for greater demand.

How Efficient Is the Reclaim CO2 V1.1?

Reclaim publishes a COP of 6.09 at 32.5°C ambient and 21°C incoming water. At the same test condition, the HE-UM60AR produces 5.06kW of heat using 0.83kW electrical input.

Real-world COP varies with outdoor temperature, incoming-water temperature, cycling, defrost operation, pipe heat loss and controller scheduling.

The published figure is therefore best used as a manufacturer performance point rather than as a guarantee of a particular household electricity bill or percentage saving.

Efficiency takeaway: under suitable conditions the Reclaim heat pump can deliver substantially more heat energy than the electrical energy it consumes, while its controller provides several ways to schedule operation around solar-generation or electricity-tariff periods.

Reclaim CO2 160L Maintenance

Sacrificial Anode

Reclaim specifies an initial glass-lined tank anode inspection after five years and then every three years thereafter.

PTRV Testing

Reclaim recommends manually testing the pressure-temperature relief valve every six months to help flush deposits and confirm normal relief operation.

Heat Pump Airflow

Keep the Panasonic heat-pump intake, discharge and servicing areas free from vegetation, stored equipment and other obstructions.

Service access matters: the cylinder position should allow future sacrificial-anode removal as well as practical access to the PTRV, plumbing, controller and outdoor heat-pump components.
