Dux Proflo 315L Supply & Installation at a Glance
Hot Water Delivery
315 litres rated hot-water delivery with approximately 321L physical storage.
Household Guide
Dux positions the Proflo 315L for approximately 4–6 people, with actual suitability depending on usage and tariff.
Element Options
Available as 315T1 single element or 315T2 twin element.
Made in Australia
The large Dux Proflo electric range is designed and manufactured in Australia.
What Is the Dux Proflo 315L?
The Dux Proflo 315L is a mains-pressure electric storage hot water system designed to store a large volume of heated water ready for household use.
Unlike a heat pump or continuous-flow water heater, the Proflo uses conventional electric resistance elements inside the tank. This keeps the operating principle straightforward and makes it particularly relevant to homes replacing an existing large electric storage system.
Dux uses a steel cylinder protected internally by commercial-grade Y-class enamel and a larger sacrificial anode designed to improve tank protection. The base is made from a tough polymer material that resists moisture and corrosion.
The Proflo large electric range also uses dense 50mm insulation to reduce standing heat loss.
Who Is the Dux Proflo 315L Best For?
Larger Households
The 315L class is suited to homes needing substantially more stored hot water than a 125L, 160L or 250L electric cylinder can provide.
Like-for-Like Electric Replacements
It is particularly relevant where an existing large electric storage system is already working well with the property's tariff, plumbing and electrical arrangement.
Homes Wanting Simple Technology
Electric storage has no compressor, refrigeration circuit or gas burner, making it a straightforward hot-water technology where running-cost efficiency is not the only priority.
Is the Dux Proflo 315L Right for My Home?
A Good Choice If...
You need a large electric storage tank, already have suitable electrical infrastructure and want a familiar replacement rather than changing hot-water technology.
Consider Another Option If...
Your household uses substantially less hot water, or you are prioritising lower electrical energy consumption and are open to comparing heat-pump or solar hot-water systems.
JR Should Check First If...
You are changing tank size, switching between single and twin element, relocating the unit, have older pressure-control valves or are unsure whether the electrical tariff and circuit suit the selected model.
How Many People Does the Dux Proflo 315L Suit?
Dux currently positions the Proflo 315L for approximately four to six people.
JR's live product currently places the 315L Proflo toward the larger-family end of that range, at approximately five to six people depending on household usage.
Tank sizing is not determined by occupant count alone. Shower duration, baths, fixture flow rates, simultaneous hot-water use and the electricity tariff all affect how well a storage system performs.
A household using off-peak electricity may need more stored hot water than a similar household using a continuously available tariff, because the tank may have fewer opportunities to reheat throughout the day.
Single Element vs Twin Element Dux 315L
Dux 315T1 Single Element
The 315T1 uses a single 3.6kW element. It is the straightforward option commonly used where the property's electricity tariff and household demand suit a conventional single-element storage system.
Dux 315T2 Twin Element
The 315T2 uses two elements and is available in 2 Ă— 3.6kW or 2 Ă— 4.8kW configurations. Dux publishes a 50L twin-element boost capacity.
A twin-element system does not increase the physical storage capacity of the tank. Its advantage is the additional boost arrangement, which can improve hot-water recovery and tariff flexibility where the electrical installation supports it.
The correct version depends on the site's electrical setup, electricity tariff and household hot-water pattern.
Key Features of the Dux Proflo 315L
Commercial-Grade Enamel
Dux uses durable Y-class commercial-grade enamel inside the steel storage cylinder.
Larger Anode
The current Proflo 315L uses a larger sacrificial anode designed to improve tank protection and service life.
Polymer Base
The hard-wearing polymer base resists moisture and corrosion around the bottom of the cylinder.
Dual-Handed Connections
Water connections are available on both sides of the tank, which can make replacement installation easier where existing pipework approaches from either direction.
Full Mains Pressure
The system is designed to provide full-flow mains-pressure hot water to household outlets.
Indoor or Outdoor Installation
Dux approves the Proflo 315L for indoor or outdoor installation where the site complies with installation requirements.

The Proflo is marketed as a 315L system because its hot-water delivery rating is 315L. Dux's current technical data lists approximately 321L of actual physical storage.
How Much Space Does the Dux Proflo 315L Need?
The current Dux technical brochure lists the Proflo 315L at approximately 1765mm high with a 620mm tank diameter and approximately 660mm overall diameter.
The difference between tank diameter and overall diameter matters when checking gates, side access, alcoves and existing hot-water enclosures.
The empty unit weighs approximately 93kg, so delivery access and the final support base also need to be considered before installation.
Future service access should be maintained around electrical covers, valves, plumbing connections and the sacrificial anode.
Can the Dux Proflo 315L Run on Off-Peak Electricity?
Yes, where the property has an appropriate controlled-load or off-peak electricity arrangement.
A large storage cylinder can be particularly useful with off-peak tariffs because water can be heated during the available tariff window and stored for use later.
The trade-off is that recovery may be limited until the next controlled-load period if the household uses all of the stored hot water.
A twin-element configuration may provide additional boost capability where the electrical and tariff arrangement supports it. The correct setup should be confirmed for the property rather than assuming every 315L system should use the same tariff.
How Efficient Is the Dux Proflo 315L?
The Dux Proflo uses conventional electric resistance heating. Unlike a heat pump, it does not multiply electrical energy by drawing additional heat from the surrounding air.
Its efficiency strengths are therefore centred on storing heat effectively and limiting standing heat loss. Dux uses approximately 50mm of dense foam insulation in its large Proflo electric cylinders.
Running cost depends heavily on electricity tariff, thermostat operation and household hot-water use.
For customers primarily focused on minimising electricity consumption, a heat-pump hot-water system may be worth comparing. For customers prioritising straightforward technology, high stored capacity and a like-for-like electric replacement, the Proflo remains a practical option.
Hard Water Option
Dux offers a hard-water option within the Proflo electric range.
This can matter where the property has water chemistry that requires a different corrosion-protection setup from the standard tank configuration.
Water quality should be checked where the home uses bore water, tank water or another non-standard supply rather than assuming the standard Proflo configuration is appropriate.
The applicable Dux warranty conditions and anode requirements should also be followed throughout the life of the cylinder.
What Is Required to Install the Dux Proflo 315L?
What's Included With Dux Proflo 315L Installation?
Standard Replacement
Where the property qualifies for the selected JR package, installation can include supply of the Dux Proflo, removal of the existing hot-water system where included, positioning of the new cylinder and connection to suitable existing services.
Testing & Commissioning
Plumbing connections, electrical operation, valves, temperature control and hot-water delivery are checked before commissioning.
Possible Additional Work
Electrical alterations, tariff changes, new pressure-control valves, tempering work, drainage improvements, relocation, pipework changes, difficult access or base preparation can increase the installation scope.
How Much Does Dux Proflo 315L Installation Cost?
Current supplied-and-installed pricing is shown in JR's live product and installation selector above.
The final Dux Proflo 315L installation cost depends on whether the job is a straightforward like-for-like electric replacement or requires electrical changes, new valves, drainage, relocation, pipework alterations or a different element configuration.
Changing from a single-element system to twin element can also involve additional electrical requirements beyond a normal tank replacement.
JR's live product currently uses the 315T1 single-element 3.6kW system as the primary 315L Dux offering, so current package pricing should be read against that model unless the twin-element version has been specifically selected.
Dux Proflo 315L Electric Storage Installation Brisbane
JR Gas & Water supplies and installs the Dux Proflo 315L in Brisbane for suitable electric-storage replacements and new hot-water installations.
A like-for-like replacement can be relatively straightforward where the existing location, electrical circuit, valves, plumbing and drainage remain suitable.
Where the old cylinder differs significantly in diameter or connection position, additional plumbing or base work may be required.
Eligible service coverage extends across Greater Brisbane and surrounding areas including Logan, Ipswich, Redlands and Moreton Bay.
Dux Proflo 315L Electric Storage Installation Gold Coast
JR Gas & Water also supplies and installs the Dux Proflo 315L on the Gold Coast across eligible service areas.
The Proflo can be installed indoors or outdoors where the installation meets Dux requirements, giving useful flexibility when replacing an existing large electric storage cylinder.
JR checks the available location, electrical arrangement, pressure control, valves, drainage and access before the final installation package is confirmed.
This helps ensure the new tank is matched to the property rather than simply replacing one cylinder with another based on nominal litres alone.
Can the Dux Proflo 315L Replace My Existing Hot Water System?
Replacing Large Electric Storage
This is generally the most straightforward replacement pathway where the existing services and location remain suitable.
Replacing a Smaller Electric Tank
Moving to 315L can provide more stored hot water but requires checking physical space, household demand and electrical tariff suitability.
Replacing Gas Hot Water
A gas-to-electric-storage conversion can require substantial electrical work together with licensed treatment of the redundant gas service.
Replacing a Heat Pump
Changing from heat pump to resistance electric storage can simplify the appliance but may increase electrical energy consumption.
Replacing Solar Hot Water
A solar-to-electric conversion may require roof-system isolation or removal and changes to the existing solar hot-water plumbing.
Relocating the Cylinder
Relocation can involve new plumbing, electrical cabling, drainage and a suitable supporting base.
Dux Proflo 250L vs 315L vs 400L
| Specification | 250L | 315L | 400L |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hot Water Delivery | 250L | 315L | 400L |
| Physical Storage | Approx. 259L | Approx. 321L | Approx. 415L |

How Do STC Rebates Work?
Small-scale Technology Certificates, or STCs, are part of the Australian Government’s renewable energy scheme. Eligible heat pump and solar hot water systems can generate STCs, which carry a monetary value. JR Gas & Water applies this value as an upfront rebate so customers see a reduced out-of-pocket price on eligible products rather than needing to claim anything later themselves.
For clarity, JR Gas & Water uses a flat-rate STC rebate of $1,000 including GST on eligible systems. This means the price shown online is the customer’s out-of-pocket price after the rebate has already been applied. It is not the full gross system price before the rebate.
As an example, if a system is advertised online at $4,000, the gross system price is $5,000, less the $1,000 STC rebate, leaving the advertised out-of-pocket amount of $4,000.
This upfront rebate is offered on the basis that the installation will be completed compliantly, the system will remain eligible for STCs, and JR Gas & Water will be able to create, process, and receive the value of those certificates after installation. We handle the STC paperwork and process behind the scenes, but the rebate is conditional and relies on the job proceeding correctly from start to finish.
Who Is Eligible?
In general, customers may be eligible for the STC rebate where they are purchasing an approved solar hot water system, heat pump hot water system, or other eligible product that qualifies under the applicable scheme rules at the time of installation.
Eligibility generally requires that:
the product itself is STC eligible,
the installation address is eligible,
the system is installed in Australia,
the installation is completed in a compliant manner,
the system is capable of being properly verified,
and the customer provides any required information, declarations, signatures, and supporting documents needed to process the STCs.
Where JR Gas & Water advertises an eligible system with the rebate already applied, the customer is agreeing that the STCs will be assigned to JR Gas & Water or its nominated agent as part of the sale. That assignment is what allows the rebate to be applied upfront instead of the customer paying full price.
When Is the Rebate Not Available or Not Valid?
The STC rebate is not an automatic discount in every situation. It is only available where the installation proceeds fully and remains eligible for STC creation and assignment.
A customer may not be eligible, or may be required to repay the rebate amount, where:
the order is cancelled after rebate pricing has been applied,
the customer declines installation,
the site is not ready,
access is refused,
the installation cannot proceed due to hazards, animals, obstructions, or unsafe conditions,
the customer wants to keep the STCs personally,
required paperwork is not signed or returned,
incorrect or incomplete information is provided,
the property or system turns out not to qualify,
the quoted eligible product is changed,
a third party interferes with, alters, completes, disconnects, reconnects, or modifies the installation,
required compliance or upgrade works are refused,
or the installation cannot be lawfully completed in a way that allows the STCs to be validly claimed.
This also includes situations where another contractor performs part of the work in a way that affects eligibility, or where changes made by the customer or another trade prevent JR Gas & Water from receiving the STC benefit that the upfront rebate was based on.
What Happens If the Customer Does Not Proceed?
Where a customer accepts pricing that already includes the STC rebate and then cancels, postpones, declines installation, refuses access, or otherwise prevents the installation from being completed, JR Gas & Water may recover the full $1,000 STC rebate amount in addition to any other applicable cancellation, postponement, restocking, freight, attendance, or administrative charges.
This is because the lower advertised price was offered on the basis that JR Gas & Water would receive the benefit of the STCs after compliant completion of the installation. If the job does not proceed, that STC benefit cannot be recovered by JR Gas & Water, so the rebate amount becomes payable.
Can the Customer Keep the STCs Instead?
Yes, but not at the rebate-adjusted price.
If the customer wishes to keep, trade, or claim the STCs themselves, they must notify JR Gas & Water in writing before the order is accepted, or at the latest before installation begins. In that case, the customer must pay the full $1,000 including GST rebate amount before installation unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Heat pump hot water systems are one of the most energy-efficient ways to heat water, using ambient air to produce hot water while consuming significantly less electricity than a conventional electric storage system.
Like any appliance with refrigeration and mechanical components, regular maintenance is essential to maximise efficiency, maintain reliable performance and support your manufacturer's warranty.
Many manufacturers recommend routine inspections and servicing throughout the life of the system.
Homeowner Maintenance – Every 6 Months
Every six months we recommend carrying out a simple visual inspection of your heat pump system.
Homeowners should:
- Carefully operate the Pressure & Temperature Relief (PTR) Valve.
- Operate the Expansion Control Valve (ECV) (where fitted).
- Remove leaves, grass and debris from around the outdoor unit.
- Ensure the air inlet and outlet remain clear.
- Check the condensate drain is free-flowing.
- Inspect for obvious water leaks or corrosion.
- Listen for any unusual noises during operation.
Why is this important?
Heat pumps rely on unrestricted airflow to operate efficiently.
Blocked airflow, dirty coils or seized safety valves can reduce efficiency, increase electricity consumption and place unnecessary strain on the compressor.
Operating the PTR and ECV valves every six months also helps prevent mineral build-up and confirms they continue to function correctly.
Important: Always follow your manufacturer's instructions when operating safety valves, as hot water will discharge during testing. If you're unsure, contact a licensed plumber.

Why These Components Matter
Sacrificial Anode
Most vitreous enamel-lined heat pump storage tanks contain a sacrificial anode.
The anode corrodes instead of the steel tank, protecting it from internal rust.
Replacing the anode at the recommended interval can significantly extend the life of your storage tank.
Pressure & Temperature Relief (PTR) Valve
The PTR valve protects the storage tank from excessive pressure and temperature.
Over time, mineral deposits may prevent the valve from operating correctly, making regular testing and replacement essential.
Expansion Control Valve (ECV)
Where fitted, the ECV controls pressure created as water expands during heating.
Maintaining the ECV helps protect both the storage tank and your home's plumbing system.
Airflow & Evaporator Coil
Unlike conventional electric systems, heat pumps rely on airflow across the evaporator coil to extract heat from the surrounding air.
Restricted airflow caused by leaves, dust or debris can:
- Reduce efficiency.
- Increase running costs.
- Extend heating times.
- Place additional strain on the compressor.
Keeping the unit clean helps maintain peak performance.
If Your Heat Pump Isn't Working
Before arranging a service, check the following:
- Ensure power is switched on.
- Check the circuit breaker and safety switch (RCD).
- Confirm the isolator near the unit is turned on.
- Check the controller for any fault or error codes.
- Ensure the air inlet and outlet are unobstructed.
- Remove any leaves or debris around the unit.
- Check for visible water leaks.
- Confirm the condensate drain is not blocked.
- Listen for unusual noises from the fan or compressor.
- Allow sufficient recovery time after heavy hot water usage.
If your system is still not producing hot water or is displaying fault codes, contact JR Gas & Water for professional diagnosis and repair.
General Signs Your System May Need Attention
Arrange a service if you notice:
- Little or no hot water.
- Unusual fan or compressor noises.
- Error codes on the controller.
- Constant water leaking.
- Reduced heating performance.
- Higher than normal electricity usage.
- Water taking much longer to heat.
- Visible corrosion.
- Repeated electrical trips.
- Restricted airflow due to dirt or debris.
Early servicing can often prevent more expensive repairs and prolong the life of your system.
Protect Your Warranty & Maximise System Life
Routine maintenance helps keep your heat pump operating safely, efficiently and reliably.
Following the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule can also assist in maintaining warranty coverage.
Failure to maintain your system may result in:
- Reduced energy efficiency.
- Increased electricity costs.
- Premature tank corrosion.
- Compressor strain.
- Shortened system lifespan.
- Unexpected breakdowns.
- Possible reduction or loss of manufacturer warranty, depending on the manufacturer's maintenance requirements.
Regular preventative maintenance is one of the best ways to protect your investment and ensure your heat pump continues delivering efficient hot water for many years.
Please note: Maintenance requirements vary between manufacturers and models. Always refer to your owner's manual for the maintenance schedule applicable to your heat pump hot water system. JR Gas & Water services all major heat pump brands in accordance with manufacturer recommendations where applicable.

Estimated annual savings are calculated by comparing the heat pump’s energy efficiency (measured as COP – Coefficient of Performance) against a standard electric hot water system with a COP of 1.0. For example, if a heat pump has a COP of 4.0, it uses 75% less electricity to deliver the same amount of hot water.
Savings are based on average household usage for a family of five on Tariff 11 (general usage tariff), using manufacturer-stated COP values. The higher the COP, the greater the energy savings.
Bonus savings: When paired with a solar PV system, energy costs can drop even further — with some households seeing up to 50% additional savings, especially when the heat pump runs during solar generation times.
Disclaimer:
All estimated savings are based on manufacturer-provided COP values and standard usage assumptions (e.g. a family of five on Tariff 11). These figures are intended as a general guide to help compare different hot water units and technologies. Actual savings may vary depending on your household’s usage, energy rates, and installation conditions. We recommend conducting your own research or consulting an energy advisor to assess what’s best for your specific setup.
