Puretec HYBRID-E13 Installation Brisbane & Gold Coast
JR Gas & Water supplies and installs the Puretec HYBRID-E13 across eligible Brisbane, Gold Coast and surrounding South East Queensland areas for homes wanting whole-house rainwater treatment with triple-stage cartridge filtration and Radfire™ ultraviolet treatment.
The current HYBRID-E13-LF is designed around rainwater treatment and can also filter mains water where it forms part of a correctly configured rain-to-mains system. Puretec positions the model for medium-to-large homes, including properties with two or more bathrooms and higher contaminant loads.
The E13 combines a 5-micron pleated sediment cartridge, 5-micron carbon block, 1-micron polyspun fine-sediment cartridge and final UV treatment. Unlike the E13AMC, the standard E13 does not include the external Architecturally Mounted Cover, making it the exposed-format version of the same core triple-stage treatment platform.

How Does the Puretec HYBRID-E13 Work?
Incoming water first passes through the pleated sediment cartridge, followed by the carbon block and one-micron fine-sediment cartridge. These filtration stages help reduce suspended material and improve water clarity before the water reaches the ultraviolet chamber.
That pre-filtration matters because suspended material can shield microorganisms from UV light. Puretec specifically states that ultraviolet effectiveness depends on water clarity and recommends additional pre-treatment where the incoming water falls outside its published quality limits.
Treatment pathway: rainwater or appropriately configured mains backup → 5-micron sediment → carbon block → 1-micron sediment → Radfire UV treatment → filtered water distributed through the home.
Understanding the HYBRID-E13 Flow Rate & UV Dose
Puretec publishes a 120 L/min maximum flow rate for the complete HYBRID-E13 system. The UV chamber also has separate published flow rates according to ultraviolet dose.

The correct installation should therefore consider household peak flow and the required treatment objective rather than treating the 120 L/min figure as a universal UV-treatment result at every flow condition.

Pressure documentation: Puretec's current product page still references pressure limiting above 520 kPa, while the newer 2026 installation guide specifies above 500 kPa. JR should follow the current installation guide and applicable plumbing requirements when assessing the property.
WATER QUALITY REQUIREMENTS
Why Water Quality Matters Before UV Treatment
UV treatment depends on light reaching microorganisms in the water. Puretec publishes maximum recommended incoming-water parameters and states that extra pre-treatment is required where those limits are exceeded.

Rainwater with heavy tank sediment, iron staining, manganese, hardness or poor clarity may require additional treatment before the Hybrid E13 so the ultraviolet stage can operate as intended.
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
What Is Required to Install the Puretec HYBRID-E13?
Structurally suitable wall mounting using appropriate fixings for the wall construction and installed pipework.
Approximately 700mm clearance above the system so the UV lamp and quartz sleeve can be removed during servicing.
At least 120mm below the 20-inch housings to allow filter bowls and cartridges to be removed.
Suitable drainage and leak consideration where water released during servicing or an unexpected leak cannot damage the property.
Cold-water installation only with water and ambient temperatures kept within Puretec's published operating limits.
Adequate rainwater-pump performance where the system is supplied from a storage tank and pressure pump.
240V / 50Hz electrical supply near the system for the UV controller.
Suitable surge protection. Puretec supplies a surge protector but states that it is not weatherproof and must be protected from moisture.

Rainwater Pump & Mains-Backup Compatibility
The HYBRID-E13 treats water supplied to it; it does not replace the rainwater pump or rain-to-mains switching equipment. Those parts of the property's water system still need to provide suitable pressure, flow and switching operation.
Rainwater Pump Performance
A whole-house UV filter can only deliver the flow supplied to it. JR should check pump condition and output where several bathrooms or fixtures may operate at the same time.
Town-Water Backup
Where mains water backs up the rainwater supply, the switching arrangement, backflow protection and resulting pressure conditions should be assessed as part of the complete installation.
What's Included With Puretec HYBRID-E13 Installation?
Standard Installation
The applicable JR package covers the standard labour and materials needed to mount and connect the E13 where the wall, pipework, pressure, power and access meet the selected installation conditions.
Commissioning & Setup
The filter is connected and flushed, the UV lamp and controller are commissioned and the installation is checked for normal water flow and leaks.
Possible Additional Work
Pressure limiting, backflow protection, extra valves, pump work, electrical alterations, additional pipework, rain-to-mains changes, pre-treatment or structural mounting work may require additional pricing.
How Much Does Puretec HYBRID-E13 Installation Cost?

The final installation price depends on existing pipework, water pressure, rainwater-pump performance, mains-backup plumbing, electrical supply, wall construction, service access and whether extra treatment is required before the Hybrid.
A property with an accessible 25mm rainwater supply, compliant pressure, nearby electrical supply and suitable mounting location will generally have a different scope from a site requiring pump, backflow, pressure-control or rain-to-mains alterations.
BRISBANE INSTALLATION
Puretec HYBRID-E13 Installation Brisbane
JR Gas & Water installs the Puretec HYBRID-E13 in Brisbane for suitable homes using rainwater internally, including properties with mains-water backup and larger household flow requirements.
Brisbane rainwater systems vary significantly. Some properties supply the entire home from the tank, while others use tank water only for selected fixtures. The existing pump, tank condition, switching system and incoming pipework should therefore be considered before assuming the filtration system is a simple add-on.
The E13 also needs substantial vertical servicing room. Side passages already containing pumps, air-conditioning equipment, tanks or other services need to be assessed so future cartridge, UV-lamp and quartz-sleeve maintenance remains practical.

GOLD COAST INSTALLATION
Puretec HYBRID-E13 Installation Gold Coast
JR Gas & Water also provides Puretec HYBRID-E13 installation on the Gold Coast for suitable properties wanting whole-house rainwater filtration and UV treatment.
Installation position is particularly important where the property is exposed to coastal salt or harsh environmental conditions. Puretec specifically requires Hybrid E equipment to be protected from excessive salt and aggressive chemical exposure.
Where rainwater supplies several bathrooms, the peak-flow capability of the pump and pipework should be assessed together with the filter. A high-flow filtration system cannot compensate for inadequate upstream pump performance.
If the property uses a rain-to-mains backup setup, JR can also assess the switching arrangement, pressure control and backflow requirements before the final installation scope is confirmed.

The AMC model is not a different treatment technology. The core filtration stages and UV performance are shared. The decision is mainly about installation environment, appearance, protection and the difference in manufacturer warranty.
Puretec HYBRID-E13 Maintenance
The E13 needs scheduled servicing to keep both the cartridge filtration and ultraviolet treatment operating properly.
Cartridges: 6–12 Months
Puretec's current maintenance guide recommends replacing the filtration cartridges every 6–12 months depending on water quality and usage. Heavy sediment loads may shorten that interval.
UV Lamp: Every 12 Months
The controller uses a 365-day lamp-life countdown. Puretec recommends replacing the genuine RL7 ultraviolet lamp annually to maintain UV performance.
Quartz Sleeve: Check Regularly
Puretec recommends checking the quartz sleeve approximately every three months depending on water quality and cleaning or replacing it if deposits or damage are present.
