New or Replacement Wall Stop Taps

JR Gas & Water supplies and installs wall stop taps for bathrooms, showers, laundries and other suitable plumbing applications throughout Greater Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

We can install new wall stops onto suitable existing water points or replace old, leaking, seized, corroded or damaged wall-mounted taps.

Wall stops are commonly used where an exposed hot or cold water connection requires a simple, accessible shut-off point.

Where Are Wall Stops Used?

Wall stop taps are commonly installed for:

  • Shower connections

  • Laundry tubs

  • Washing machine connections

  • Hot and cold laundry taps

  • Bathroom plumbing

  • Utility areas

  • Garages

  • Sheds

  • Cleaning sinks

  • Other exposed hot and cold water outlets

Depending on the application, they may be installed individually or as a matching hot and cold pair.

What's Included?

Standard wall stop installation or replacement includes:

  • Supply of the selected wall stop tap

  • Removal of the existing wall stop where applicable

  • Installation onto an existing suitable water connection

  • Sealing of threaded connections

  • Alignment of the new fitting

  • Water supply isolation and reinstatement

  • Pressure testing

  • Leak testing

  • Operational testing

  • Basic clean-up of the immediate work area

New Wall Stop Installation

Choose a new installation where a suitable water point already exists but no wall stop is currently fitted.

Common new installations include:

  • New laundry fit-outs

  • Washing machine water points

  • Renovated bathrooms

  • Shower plumbing

  • Shed or garage sinks

  • Utility areas

  • New hot and cold exposed water outlets

Standard installation assumes the existing connection is accessible and correctly positioned.

If new pipework or relocation of the water point is required, additional work may be required.

Wall Stop Replacement

Existing wall stops may need replacement if they:

  • Drip when turned off

  • Leak from the spindle

  • Leak around the wall connection

  • Are seized

  • Are difficult to operate

  • Will not fully shut off

  • Have damaged handles

  • Are heavily corroded

  • Have damaged threads

  • Look worn or deteriorated

Replacing the wall stop can restore reliable local isolation without replacing the surrounding fixture or pipework where the existing connection remains suitable.

Shower Wall Stops

Wall stops can be used as part of suitable exposed shower plumbing arrangements.

JR Gas & Water can install or replace suitable shower wall stops where the existing hot and cold water connections are accessible and correctly positioned.

For replacements, we can generally retain the existing water points provided they are in serviceable condition.

Laundry Wall Stops

Laundry wall stops are commonly used for:

  • Washing machines

  • Laundry tubs

  • Utility sinks

  • Hot and cold appliance connections

We can replace a single faulty tap or both hot and cold wall stops together.

Where both taps are of similar age, replacing the pair at the same time can provide a consistent finish and reduce the likelihood of returning shortly afterwards for the second valve.

Washing Machine Wall Taps

Washing machine connections remain pressurised whenever the taps are turned on.

Wall-mounted washing machine taps should operate freely and provide a reliable shut-off.

Consider replacement where there is:

  • Leakage around the tap

  • Corrosion

  • Difficulty turning the tap

  • Incomplete isolation

  • Damaged hose threads

  • Movement at the wall connection

Existing appliance hoses should also be checked for deterioration when the taps are being replaced.

Hot & Cold Wall Stop Pairs

Many installations use matching hot and cold wall stops.

JR Gas & Water can install:

  • Cold wall stop only

  • Hot wall stop only

  • Hot and cold pair

Where replacing a pair, both fittings can generally be completed during the same visit.

Existing Water Connections

Standard installation assumes the existing wall connection is suitable for reuse.

Additional work may be required where we find:

  • Damaged threads

  • Corroded fittings

  • Loose wall connections

  • Damaged copper pipework

  • Incorrectly positioned outlets

  • Recessed or inaccessible fittings

  • Non-standard connections

  • Leaks behind the wall

  • Existing fittings that cannot be safely reused

Wall Stop vs Mini Stop

These fittings serve similar isolation purposes but are typically used in different locations.

Wall Stop Tap

Usually installed as an exposed wall-mounted tap or isolation point.

Common uses include:

  • Laundries

  • Washing machines

  • Showers

  • Utility areas

Mini Stop Tap

Usually installed beneath or beside an individual fixture.

Common uses include:

  • Toilets

  • Basin mixers

  • Kitchen mixers

  • Under-sink connections

JR Gas & Water can install or replace either type depending on the application.

Wall Stop & Flexi Hose Replacement

Some wall stops connect directly to flexible water hoses or appliance hoses.

Where a connected hose is:

  • Corroded

  • Frayed

  • Kinked

  • Leaking

  • Bulging

  • Showing significant age

replacement should be considered at the same time.

What's Not Included?

Standard wall stop installation or replacement does not include:

  • Relocation of water points

  • New concealed pipework

  • Opening walls

  • Wall repairs

  • Tiling

  • Waterproofing repairs

  • Replacement of shower mixers

  • Replacement of laundry tubs

  • Replacement of washing machines

  • Cabinet modifications

  • Rectification of unrelated plumbing defects

Additional work can be quoted where required.
