Toilet replacement at a glance: supply your own compatible toilet and choose the matching Link Suite, Close Coupled or Back-to-Wall replacement option above. Installation of customer-supplied close coupled suite
Connection to existing water point
Connection to existing waste point

TOILET SUITABILITY

Will My Customer-Supplied Toilet Fit?

Toilet compatibility depends on more than the overall appearance of the suite. The new toilet needs to physically suit the plumbing and space already available in the bathroom.

Waste Set-Out

The toilet's waste connection needs to suit the position and direction of the existing sanitary connection.

Water Connection

The existing water point and isolation arrangement need to remain accessible and compatible with the new cistern.

Available Space

Pan depth, width, cistern position, wall clearances and surrounding bathroom fixtures all affect whether the new toilet physically fits.

Floor condition also matters. A replacement toilet can have a different footprint from the old pan, potentially exposing old fixing holes, unpainted areas, damaged flooring or gaps that were previously hidden.

What Does Like-for-Like Toilet Replacement Mean?

Like-for-like does not mean the replacement must be the exact same brand or model. It means the new toilet can be installed using the existing suitable waste position, water connection and bathroom layout without substantial plumbing or building alterations.

For example, replacing one compatible close coupled suite with another may be a straightforward installation even if the new toilet has a different shape or brand.

By contrast, changing to a toilet requiring a different waste set-out, moving the water point or modifying the wall or floor is no longer a simple like-for-like replacement.

S-Trap & P-Trap Toilet Compatibility

One of the first compatibility checks is the direction of the existing toilet waste connection.

Floor-Connected Waste

Many toilets discharge through the floor. The replacement pan needs a suitable set-out range or compatible pan connection for the existing waste position.

Wall-Connected Waste

Some toilets discharge through the wall. The new pan must suit the height, position and configuration of the existing wall waste connection.

Do not purchase solely on toilet style. Check the manufacturer's installation drawing and set-out range against the existing bathroom plumbing before assuming the suite is suitable.

Link Suite Toilet Replacement

Link suite toilets use a separate pan and cistern joined by a connecting flush pipe or link section.

This design can provide useful flexibility in some older bathrooms because the cistern and pan are not positioned as tightly together as a close coupled suite.

A customer-supplied replacement still needs to suit the existing waste set-out, water position, wall clearance and available floor space.

Close Coupled Toilet Replacement

Close coupled toilets have the cistern mounted directly onto the pan, creating a more compact and integrated appearance than a traditional link suite.

They are common in modern bathrooms and can be straightforward to replace where the new toilet's waste set-out and water connection align with the existing installation.

Check the overall pan depth carefully. A modern replacement can project further into the bathroom or sit differently against the wall even when the waste connection is technically compatible.

Back-to-Wall Toilet Replacement

Back-to-wall suites are designed so the rear of the toilet sits closely against the finished wall, helping conceal pipework and making the installation appear more streamlined.

This tighter fit means the water inlet, waste connector and available wall space need to suit the particular toilet model.

Replacing one back-to-wall suite with another is not automatically like-for-like simply because both have the same general style. Manufacturer dimensions and set-out requirements still need to match the existing installation.

What Toilet Installation Materials Does JR Supply?

The toilet suite itself is customer supplied. JR supplies the standard minor plumbing and fit-off components required for a straightforward compatible replacement.

Flexible Water Connection

Standard flexible water connection where required for the selected installation.

Isolation Valve

A standard isolation valve where required within the normal replacement scope.

Pan Seal & Fittings

Standard pan sealing and normal connection fittings required for fit-off.

Sealants & Materials

Normal minor connection and sealing materials associated with a standard installation.

Special pan connectors, unusual waste adaptors, major plumbing alterations or non-standard parts may require additional materials and cost.

What If My Water Point Does Not Suit the New Toilet?

Back-to-wall and other compact toilet designs can conceal the area where the cistern connects to the water supply.

If the existing isolation valve or water point ends up behind the new pan, conflicts with the cistern or cannot remain accessible, the water connection may need to be relocated.

Water-point relocation is not included in the standard customer-supplied like-for-like replacement and would require additional plumbing work.

Choose Your Toilet Replacement Timeframe

JR's current live Toilet Replacement service provides three booking windows.

Within 1 Business Day

Priority booking for customers wanting the fastest standard booking window currently offered through the live selector.

Within 5 Business Days

Standard booking option for routine customer-supplied toilet replacement.

Within 20 Business Days

Flexible booking option where the toilet replacement can be scheduled within the longer service window.

Current pricing and booking availability are shown through JR's live selector above. Faster booking windows can have different pricing.

Replacing More Than One Toilet?

JR's current live Customer-Supplied Toilet Replacement selector allows customers to select 1, 2 or 3 toilets requiring replacement.

This can suit homes, investment properties or small sites where several compatible toilets are being changed during the same maintenance or upgrade project.

Each toilet still needs to be compatible with its individual waste set-out, water position and available installation space.

What's Included With Toilet Replacement?

Existing Toilet Removal

The existing toilet is disconnected and removed from its installed position so the replacement can be fitted.

Customer-Supplied Toilet Installation

The compatible replacement is connected to suitable existing water and waste points and fitted into position.

Testing & Commissioning

The installed toilet is flushed and checked for normal operation and accessible water or waste leaks.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

What Is Required Before JR Installs My Toilet?

Customer-supplied toilet must be onsite
Toilet must suit the existing waste configuration
Water point must be compatible and accessible
Bathroom must provide adequate installation space
Existing plumbing must be serviceable
Installation area must be reasonably clean and accessible
No major waste relocation assumed
No structural bathroom modification assumed

Where possible, compare the manufacturer's toilet installation drawing with the existing toilet before purchase. Waste set-out, overall pan depth and water inlet position are particularly important.

What If My New Toilet Does Not Fit?

JR cannot guarantee that every customer-purchased toilet will fit every existing bathroom simply because the toilet is described as the same general style.

Common compatibility issues include a waste set-out outside the toilet's adjustment range, an incompatible wall or floor waste connection, a water point obstructed by the new pan, insufficient depth or width and unexpected problems with the existing floor.

If the new toilet cannot be installed within the standard replacement scope, the plumber will explain the available options before additional plumbing or building work proceeds.

What Happens to the Old Toilet?

Removal of the existing toilet from its installed position is included in the standard service.

Disposal of the old toilet is not included unless it has been separately arranged.

This distinction is important because toilets are bulky sanitary fixtures and disposal or transport may require a separate waste pathway after removal.

Can My Existing Toilet Be Repaired Instead?

Not every leaking, running or poorly flushing toilet needs complete replacement. Some faults can be repaired by servicing or replacing internal cistern components, inlet valves, outlet seals or other accessible parts.

Complete replacement can make more sense where the pan or cistern is cracked, the suite is badly deteriorated, replacement parts are difficult to obtain or the homeowner wants to upgrade the toilet style.

If you already have a compatible replacement toilet ready to install, this customer-supplied service is designed specifically for that installation pathway.

How Much Does Customer-Supplied Toilet Replacement Cost?

Current supplied-service pricing is shown through JR's live installation selector above rather than being hardcoded into this long-form description.

Choose the toilet type, booking timeframe and number of toilets requiring replacement to see the current selected service total.

JR's current booking system charges the selected service total at checkout. If site conditions require work outside the selected scope, any additional cost is discussed before additional work proceeds.

BRISBANE TOILET REPLACEMENT

Customer-Supplied Toilet Replacement Brisbane

JR Gas & Water provides customer-supplied toilet replacement throughout Greater Brisbane for houses, apartments, townhouses, investment properties and suitable commercial amenities.

Brisbane properties can contain a wide range of older and newer toilet configurations. Checking the existing waste set-out, water point, available floor space and condition of the plumbing before purchasing the replacement can reduce the likelihood of installation problems.

JR also services Logan, Ipswich, Redlands and Moreton Bay, subject to current service-area and booking availability.

GOLD COAST TOILET REPLACEMENT

Customer-Supplied Toilet Replacement Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water provides customer-supplied toilet replacement across eligible Gold Coast service areas for houses, apartments, townhouses, rental properties and bathroom upgrades.

Straightforward replacements can normally reuse compatible existing plumbing. Where the new toilet has a different set-out, water inlet position or footprint, additional plumbing or bathroom work may be needed.

If the customer-supplied toilet cannot be installed within the selected like-for-like service, JR will explain the available options before additional work proceeds.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Customer-Supplied Toilet Replacement FAQs

Do I need to supply the toilet?

Yes. This service is specifically for installation of a compatible customer-supplied toilet suite.

Does JR also supply toilets?

Yes. JR also currently offers separate supplied-and-installed toilet replacement options, including Link Suite, Close Coupled and Back-to-Wall choices.

What toilet types can I book?

JR's current customer-supplied live selector includes Link Suite Toilet Replacement, Close Coupled Toilet Suite Replacement and Back-to-Wall Toilet Suite Replacement.

How do I know whether my new toilet will fit?

Check the existing waste direction and set-out, water-point position, available bathroom space and the manufacturer's installation dimensions for the new toilet.

What is a toilet set-out?

The set-out describes the position of the toilet's waste connection relative to the finished wall or floor. The replacement toilet needs to accommodate the existing waste location.

Can JR install an S-trap toilet?

A floor-connected replacement can be installed where the customer-supplied toilet and its pan connection are compatible with the existing floor waste set-out.

Can JR install a P-trap toilet?

A wall-connected replacement can be installed where the new toilet suits the position and configuration of the existing wall waste connection.

Do I need to buy hoses or an isolation valve?

Standard flexible water connections, an isolation valve where required and normal installation fittings are included within the defined replacement scope.

What if my new toilet does not fit?

The plumber will assess the incompatibility and explain what plumbing, product change or additional work would be required before proceeding outside the selected service.

Will JR move the waste pipe if required?

Waste-point relocation is not included in the standard fixed replacement service and requires an additional plumbing scope.

Will JR move the water connection?

Water-point relocation is not included in the standard like-for-like service. If the new toilet obstructs or conflicts with the existing connection, additional plumbing work may be required.

Do you remove the old toilet?

Yes. Removal of the existing toilet from its installed position is included.

Do you dispose of the old toilet?

Disposal is not included unless it has been separately arranged.

Can JR install a back-to-wall toilet where I currently have a link suite?

Potentially, but this should not automatically be assumed to be like-for-like. The existing waste set-out, water position, floor condition and available space need to suit the new back-to-wall toilet.

Can a leaking toilet be repaired instead of replaced?

Often, yes. Running, slow-filling or leaking toilets can sometimes be repaired by replacing serviceable cistern components or seals. Cracked, deteriorated or unsuitable toilets may be better candidates for complete replacement.

Can JR install multiple toilets in one booking?

Yes. JR's current customer-supplied live selector provides quantity options for 1, 2 or 3 toilets requiring replacement.

Can JR replace customer-supplied toilets in Brisbane?

Yes. JR provides toilet replacement throughout Greater Brisbane and surrounding eligible South East Queensland areas.

Can JR replace customer-supplied toilets on the Gold Coast?

Yes. JR provides customer-supplied toilet replacement across eligible Gold Coast service areas.

Can I book priority toilet replacement?

Yes. JR's current live service includes a Within 1 Business Day priority booking option, subject to current availability.

Is that guaranteed same-day service?

The fixed selector should be read according to the booking window displayed at the time you book. Use the live availability above for the current attendance options rather than assuming a particular same-day appointment.

What other booking timeframes are available?

JR's current live selector also includes Within 5 Business Days and Within 20 Business Days booking options.

How much does customer-supplied toilet replacement cost?

Current pricing is shown in JR's live service selector above. Choose the toilet type, booking timeframe and quantity to see the selected service total.
