Professional Regency Gas Fireplace Installation

JR Gas & Water provides professional installation, gas connection and commissioning for Regency gas fireplaces and gas log fires throughout Greater Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Whether your builder has already installed the fireplace, you need a licensed gas fitter to complete the gas connection, or you want the complete appliance and flue installation handled, choose the installation option that matches your project.

We can assist with suitable Natural Gas and LPG Regency fireplaces, subject to the appliance, site and installation requirements.

Choose Your Installation

Gas Connection Only

Choose Gas Connection Only when the fireplace and flue have already been installed and you require a licensed gas fitter to complete the gas component of the installation.

Typically suitable for:

  • New home installations

  • Renovations

  • Builder-installed fireplaces

  • Fireplace installer completing the appliance and flue

  • Existing gas point ready for connection

Standard gas-only installation can include:

  • Connection of the fireplace to an existing suitable gas supply

  • Appliance isolation valve where required

  • Final gas connection

  • Gas leak testing

  • Gas pressure testing

  • Basic appliance gas checks

  • Gas compliance documentation where applicable

The fireplace, flue, framing and associated building work must already be correctly installed and ready for gas connection.

Complete Installation – Fireplace, Flue & Gas

Choose Complete Installation when you want JR Gas & Water to complete the main fireplace installation from appliance positioning through to gas connection and commissioning.

Depending on the fireplace model and site, this can include:

  • Positioning the Regency fireplace

  • Installing the appliance

  • Installing the required flue system

  • Connecting flue components

  • Wall or ceiling penetrations required for the nominated flue route

  • Roof or external-wall flue termination where applicable

  • Connection to an existing suitable gas supply

  • Installation of appliance gas isolation

  • Gas connection

  • Leak testing

  • Gas pressure testing

  • Appliance setup

  • Initial commissioning

  • Operational testing

  • Gas compliance documentation where applicable

The installation must still be suitable for the selected fireplace, flue configuration and manufacturer requirements.

Commissioning / Setup Only

Choose Commissioning / Setup Only where the fireplace, flue and gas connection have already been installed and the appliance requires final setup and commissioning.

This is particularly suitable for:

  • Builder installations

  • New homes

  • Fireplace installations completed by another contractor

  • Appliances awaiting final startup

  • Installations requiring final operational checks before handover

Commissioning can include:

  • Visual inspection of the completed installation

  • Confirmation of appliance model and gas type

  • Gas supply checks

  • Operating pressure check

  • Ignition testing

  • Pilot or ignition system setup where applicable

  • Burner operation check

  • Flame pattern check

  • Log or media setup where applicable

  • Remote or controller setup where applicable

  • Fan operation check where applicable

  • General operational testing

  • Final appliance startup

Commissioning assumes the appliance, gas supply, flue and associated installation have already been completed correctly.

Important – Commissioning Is Not Rectification

A commissioning booking is for an installation that is complete and ready to operate.

If we find issues such as:

  • Incorrect flue installation

  • Missing flue components

  • Incorrect clearances

  • Incomplete gas connection

  • Gas leaks

  • Incorrect gas pressure

  • Undersized gas pipework

  • Incorrect gas type

  • Missing components

  • Incorrect log or media arrangement

  • Incomplete electrical connection

  • Installation not meeting manufacturer requirements

the fireplace may not be able to be commissioned until those issues are rectified.

Rectification work is additional.

Natural Gas & LPG Installations

JR Gas & Water can install suitable Regency fireplaces configured for:

  • Natural Gas

  • LPG

The fireplace must be approved and correctly configured for the gas type supplied to the property.

Where conversion between Natural Gas and LPG is required, the correct manufacturer-approved conversion components and procedures are required and are not automatically included in a standard installation.

New Gas Supply

If there is no suitable gas supply at the proposed fireplace location, additional gas pipework may be required.

This can include:

  • Extending existing gas pipework

  • New appliance gas point

  • New isolation valve

  • Larger gas pipework

  • LPG regulator modifications

  • Natural Gas supply alterations

Gas pipe sizing depends on factors including:

  • Fireplace gas consumption

  • Gas type

  • Pipe length

  • Pipe size

  • Existing gas appliances

  • Available gas pressure

An existing gas line cannot automatically be assumed to have sufficient capacity for a new fireplace.

Regency Fireplace Flue Installation

For complete installations, the correct flue system must be installed for the specific Regency fireplace and approved installation configuration.

Depending on the model, the flue may terminate:

  • Through an external wall

  • Vertically through the roof

  • Through a purpose-built enclosure

  • Using another approved manufacturer configuration

The exact flue arrangement depends on:

  • Fireplace model

  • Building construction

  • Fireplace location

  • Manufacturer requirements

  • Required clearances

  • Available flue route

Additional building work may be required where the proposed flue route is complex.

Fireplace Position & Clearances

Before installation, the proposed location needs to be suitable for the selected Regency fireplace.

This includes consideration of:

  • Manufacturer clearances

  • Combustible materials

  • Wall construction

  • Floor construction

  • Flue route

  • Gas connection

  • Electrical requirements

  • Access for future servicing

  • Fireplace ventilation requirements

  • Television and cabinetry positioning where relevant

The manufacturer's installation requirements take priority over aesthetic positioning.

Framing, Cabinetry & Fireplace Surrounds

Many Regency fireplaces are designed to be incorporated into a framed wall, fireplace enclosure or feature wall.

Unless specifically included, standard fireplace installation does not include construction of:

  • Timber framing

  • Steel framing

  • Feature walls

  • Cabinetry

  • Stone surrounds

  • Tiled surrounds

  • Mantels

  • Plastering

  • Painting

  • Decorative finishing

These elements should be completed by the appropriate trade and must maintain the required appliance and flue clearances.

Electrical Requirements

Some Regency fireplaces require electrical power for components such as:

  • Ignition systems

  • Fans

  • Remote receivers

  • Control systems

Electrical installation or modification is not included unless specifically stated.

Where new electrical work is required, it must be completed by a licensed electrician.

Customer-Supplied Regency Fireplaces

We can install suitable customer-supplied Regency fireplaces.

Before booking a full installation, we recommend confirming:

  • Exact model

  • Gas type

  • Appliance dimensions

  • Flue kit supplied

  • Proposed installation location

  • Whether framing has been completed

  • Gas supply location

  • Electrical availability

This helps determine whether the installation falls within the standard scope.

Where JR Gas & Water is completing only the gas connection or commissioning, we are not taking responsibility for building, framing, flue or other work completed by another contractor.

Those components must be suitable, compliant and installed in accordance with the appliance manufacturer's requirements before we can complete our portion of the work.

If an issue affects the safe operation of the fireplace, we may be unable to connect or commission the appliance until it is rectified.

Gas Testing & Commissioning

Once the fireplace installation is complete, the appliance is tested before handover.

Depending on the model, this may include:

  • Gas leak testing

  • Supply pressure testing

  • Operating pressure testing

  • Ignition

  • Pilot operation

  • Burner operation

  • Flame appearance

  • Fan operation

  • Remote control setup

  • Log or media positioning

  • General operational checks
