How Does the Puretec SOL40-E3 Water Softener Work?

The SOL40-E3 uses ion-exchange resin to reduce hardness minerals from incoming water. During normal service the resin treats the household water. What Does 18,000 Litres Capacity Mean?

Puretec publishes the SOL40-E3 at an 18,000-litre capacity based on water hardness of 100 ppm. That figure should not be interpreted as a fixed 18,000 litres between every regeneration at every property.

Harder incoming water places a greater treatment load on the resin, while lower hardness places a smaller load on it. The E3 controller must therefore be programmed around the measured water conditions so the system can calculate when regeneration is required.
