The current HYBRID-E7-LF is a dual-stage point-of-entry rainwater treatment system. It combines two high-capacity 20-inch cartridges with Puretec's Radfire™ ultraviolet system and is positioned by Puretec for larger homes, including properties with two or more bathrooms.
Stage one uses a nominal 5-micron pleated sediment cartridge. Stage two uses a 10-micron dual-purpose cartridge for additional sediment plus taste and odour reduction. The filtered water then passes through the ultraviolet chamber as the final microbiological-treatment stage before being distributed through the home.

What Does the Puretec HYBRID-E7 Filter?
Stage 1
5 Micron Sediment
PL05MP2 is Puretec's 20-inch MaxiPlus™ pleated sediment cartridge. It helps reduce cloudiness and suspended sediment around five microns nominal and larger.
Stage 2
10 Micron Dual Purpose
DP10MP2 is a 20-inch MaxiPlus™ dual-purpose cartridge designed for further sediment treatment together with taste and odour reduction.
Final Stage
Radfire™ UV
Filtered water then enters the ultraviolet chamber. Puretec publishes microbiological reduction claims under specified water-quality, flow, lamp and UV-dose conditions.
How Does the Puretec HYBRID-E7 Work?
Rainwater is supplied from the storage tank and pump to the Hybrid E7. The first cartridge captures larger suspended material to reduce sediment loading and improve the clarity of the water entering the next stage.
The DP10MP2 dual-purpose cartridge then provides additional sediment, taste and odour treatment. This pre-filtration is important because ultraviolet treatment works best where suspended particles and other material are not shielding microorganisms from the UV light.
The final stage exposes the flowing water to ultraviolet light inside the Radfire chamber before the treated water enters the household supply.
Treatment pathway: rainwater tank → rainwater pump → PL05MP2 sediment filter → DP10MP2 dual-purpose filter → Radfire UV treatment → water supplied throughout the home.
Understanding the HYBRID-E7 Flow Rate & UV Dose
The E7 has a 130 L/min maximum published system flow, but UV performance also needs to be considered against the ultraviolet dose required at a particular flow rate.

Current pressure requirement: Puretec's product webpage references pressure limiting above 520 kPa, while its newer 2026 installation guide specifies above 500 kPa. The installation should follow the current manufacturer guide and applicable plumbing requirements.
WATER QUALITY REQUIREMENTS
Why Water Quality Matters Before UV Treatment
The Hybrid E platform relies on ultraviolet light reaching microorganisms in the water. Water that is highly cloudy, mineral-loaded or otherwise outside Puretec's specified limits can reduce the effectiveness of the UV stage and may require additional pre-treatment.

Puretec recommends water testing and specialist assessment where bore, dam or river water is being considered because additional filtration or treatment may be needed before the Hybrid E7.
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
What Is Required to Install the Puretec HYBRID-E7?
Structurally suitable wall mounting using fixings appropriate for the wall construction and installed plumbing.
Approximately 700mm clearance above the system so the ultraviolet lamp and quartz sleeve can be removed during servicing.
At least 120mm below the 20-inch housings so filter bowls and cartridges can be removed.
Suitable leak and drainage consideration so water released during maintenance or a fault cannot unnecessarily damage the property.
Cold-water supply within 2–38°C and protection from freezing conditions.
Adequate rainwater pump performance to deliver the required household pressure and flow through the filtration system.
Suitable 240V power supply close to the system for the Radfire UV controller.
Surge protection. Puretec supplies a surge protector but specifies that it must itself be protected from water and moisture.
Approved pressure limiting where line pressure exceeds 500 kPa under the current Puretec installation guide.

Rainwater Pump & Alternative Water Sources
The HYBRID-E7 filters the water delivered to it; it does not replace the tank or rainwater pump. The upstream system therefore needs enough pressure and flow for the household demand after the filtration cartridges are added.
Rainwater Pump
For larger homes, JR should consider pump condition and output alongside the filter so simultaneous showers, taps and appliances do not create unnecessary pressure loss.
Bore, Dam & River Water
Puretec says these sources may be suitable, but recommends testing first because the water can contain contaminants requiring additional treatment or pre-filtration.
What's Included With Puretec HYBRID-E7 Installation?
Standard Installation
The applicable JR installation package covers the standard labour and materials required to mount and connect the E7 where the wall, plumbing, power, pressure and access meet the selected package conditions.
Commissioning & Setup
The system is connected and flushed, the ultraviolet lamp and controller are commissioned and water flow and visible connections are checked before completion.
Possible Additional Work
Pressure limiting, backflow protection, pump upgrades, electrical changes, additional pipework, extra valves, structural mounting or water pre-treatment may require additional pricing.

The final installation cost depends on the existing rainwater pump, line pressure, wall position, electrical supply, pipework, backflow requirements, service access and whether any additional treatment is required before the E7.
A property with a suitable pump, accessible 25mm plumbing, compliant pressure and nearby electrical supply will generally require a different installation scope from a site needing pressure control, pump replacement, extra pipework or water-quality treatment.
BRISBANE INSTALLATION
Puretec HYBRID-E7 Installation Brisbane
JR Gas & Water supplies and installs the Puretec HYBRID-E7 in Brisbane for eligible homes using rainwater internally and wanting a higher-flow whole-house filtration and UV setup.
Brisbane rainwater systems vary from full-house tank-water supplies to arrangements serving only selected bathrooms, toilets or laundries. The rainwater tank, pump capacity, pipe size and household demand therefore need to be considered before assuming the E7 is simply a bolt-on filter.
The standard E7 is an open system rather than an enclosed AMC model, so the chosen wall position should provide suitable weather protection as well as the required cartridge and lamp servicing space.

GOLD COAST INSTALLATION
Puretec HYBRID-E7 Installation Gold Coast
JR Gas & Water also installs the Puretec HYBRID-E7 on the Gold Coast for eligible properties wanting rainwater filtration with ultraviolet treatment.
Because the standard E7 does not have the aluminium AMC cover, installation location is especially important where a home is exposed to coastal salt, wind-driven rain or other harsh external conditions. Puretec requires the equipment to be protected from excessive salt and aggressive chemical exposure.
Gold Coast homes using rainwater for multiple bathrooms should also have the pump and supply pipework assessed against expected peak demand. The filter's published flow rating cannot compensate for inadequate pump performance upstream.

The AMC does not provide a fundamentally different water-treatment process. The decision is mainly about the installation environment, external presentation, physical protection and manufacturer warranty.
Puretec HYBRID-E7 Maintenance
The E7 requires scheduled cartridge and ultraviolet servicing. Maintaining only the filter cartridges while ignoring the lamp or quartz sleeve can compromise the complete treatment process.
Cartridges: 6–12 Months
Puretec recommends cartridge replacement every 6–12 months depending on water quality and use. Heavy sediment or declining household flow can require earlier replacement.
UV Lamp: Every 12 Months
The RL7 ultraviolet lamp has a rated life of 365 days. The electronic controller counts down lamp life and provides an alarm when servicing is due.
Quartz Sleeve
The quartz sleeve should be inspected and cleaned as required so mineral or sediment deposits do not reduce transmission of ultraviolet light.
