Replacement Hose Tap
If your existing outdoor tap is:
we can remove it and install a new standard hose tap.
Where the existing connection and pipework are serviceable, this is normally a straightforward replacement.
If minor above-ground pipework alterations are required to complete the installation properly, they are covered within the 10 metre pipework allowance.
New Hose Tap Installation
You do not need to already have a hose tap installed.
Our standard new hose tap installation includes running up to 10 metres of above-ground water pipework from a suitable accessible cold-water connection to your nominated tap position.
This makes the product suitable for adding an outdoor tap to areas such as:
-
Side of the house
-
Backyard
-
Patio
-
Alfresco area
-
Garage
-
Shed exterior
-
Garden area
-
Pool equipment area
-
Outdoor kitchen area
-
Dog-wash area
-
Driveway or washing area
The proposed location must be able to be reached using above-ground accessible pipework.
Up to 10 Metres of Pipework Included
The advertised installation includes up to 10 metres of new water pipework where required.
This allowance applies to pipework that can be installed:
-
Above ground
-
In an accessible position
-
Along a suitable wall or structure
-
Without excavation
-
Without trenching
-
Without major building alterations
The pipework route will be determined by the plumber based on the available water service, suitable fixing locations and normal plumbing requirements.
Above-Ground Pipework Only
This product is specifically designed for straightforward above-ground hose tap installations.
Any new pipework included in the standard price must remain above ground.
The standard installation does not include:
-
Underground pipework
-
Buried water lines
-
Pipework through garden beds below ground
-
Pipework beneath lawns
-

-
Pipework underneath concrete

Excavation-related works are treated separately within JR’s existing plumbing structure rather than as standard above-ground fixture work.
Existing Water Supply Requirements
For a new hose tap installation, there must be a suitable existing cold-water service that can reasonably be accessed for connection.
Examples may include accessible above-ground cold-water pipework near:
-
Existing external plumbing
-
Hot water system plumbing
-
An existing external water service
-
Other accessible cold-water pipework
The final connection point will be selected by the plumber based on suitability, condition and accessibility.
Standard Installation Requirements
The advertised installation assumes:
-
A suitable cold-water supply is available
-
The connection point is reasonably accessible
-
The new hose tap can be reached with no more than 10 metres of pipework
-
All included new pipework can remain above ground
-
There is a suitable wall, post or other surface for mounting the tap where required
-
No excavation is required
-
No concrete cutting is required
-
No significant building work is required
-
Existing plumbing used for the connection is serviceable
-
Safe and reasonable access is available to the work area
More Than 10 Metres Away?
If your preferred hose tap location requires more than 10 metres of pipework, the standard product can still form the base installation, but additional pipework and labour may need to be quoted separately.
The 10 metre allowance is measured based on the actual practical plumbing route rather than a straight-line distance between the water source and tap.
What’s Not Included
Unless specifically quoted or purchased separately, standard hose tap installation does not include:
-
Excavation
-
Trenching
-
Underground pipework
-
Buried water services
-

Hose Tap Position
You can nominate your preferred hose tap location, but the final position must be suitable for a compliant and practical plumbing installation.
The plumber will consider:
-
Distance from the available water supply
-
Pipework route
-
Mounting surface
-
Accessibility
-
Risk of damage
-
Existing services
-
Ability to keep pipework above ground
-
Future access for maintenance
If the nominated position cannot be reached within the included scope, the plumber can discuss an alternative location or any additional work required.
Existing Hose Tap Replacement
For replacements, the standard installation includes removing the existing hose tap and fitting the supplied replacement to suitable existing pipework.
If the pipework immediately behind or around the existing tap is damaged, badly corroded or unsuitable, repairs can generally be completed using the included pipework allowance where the work remains within the standard above-ground scope.
Major repairs to unrelated or defective water services are not included.
