3 PHASE INSTANT ELECTRIC HOT WATER

Rheem Eclipse 27kW Installation Brisbane & Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water supplies and installs the Rheem Eclipse 27kW 3 Phase Continuous Flow Electric Water Heater across eligible Brisbane, Gold Coast and surrounding South East Queensland service areas.

The Rheem Eclipse 27kW is a compact three-phase instantaneous electric water heater that heats water as it flows through the unit instead of storing a tank of hot water. It is designed for properties where a high-output electric continuous-flow system suits the available electrical supply, required hot water flow and installation location.

Current 27kW Eclipse models are available in dedicated 50Β°C and 60Β°C maximum-temperature versions and include an interactive touch-screen display, three temperature-memory modes, a low 2.8L/min activation flow rate and automatic sleep mode.

Rheem Eclipse 27kW at a glance: the 27kW Eclipse uses a 380–415V AC three-phase electrical connection, draws approximately 37.6A per phase at its rated output and is designed for indoor installation. Rheem lists a nominal maximum flow rate of 12L/min, but real hot water capacity depends heavily on incoming water temperature, selected outlet temperature, available voltage, water pressure and simultaneous demand.

PRODUCT AT A GLANCE

Rheem Eclipse 27kW Continuous Flow Electric Hot Water

27kW Output

High-output instantaneous electric heating designed for properties with a suitable three-phase electrical supply.

3 Phase Power

Requires 380–415V AC, three-phase, three-wire-and-earth electrical supply.

Tankless Design

Heats water as it passes through the unit, so there is no large storage cylinder taking up plant or floor space.

Indoor Installation

Rheem specifies the Eclipse continuous-flow electric range for indoor installation only.

WHO IT SUITS

Is the Rheem Eclipse 27kW Right for Your Property?

The Eclipse 27kW can be an excellent option where the property already has suitable three-phase power and the required hot water flow falls within the heater's actual capacity for the local inlet-water temperature.

Three-Phase Properties

Best suited to properties where an adequate three-phase supply is already available or where the electrical infrastructure is being designed specifically for this type of load.

Space-Limited Installations

The compact wall-mounted format can suit apartments, townhouses, commercial spaces and other properties where a large storage cylinder is undesirable.

Like-for-Like Replacement

A practical option where a comparable high-output three-phase instantaneous electric heater is already installed and the existing electrical and plumbing services remain suitable.

JR Installer Verdict: choose an instant electric system by required flow and available electrical capacity, not simply by the fact that it is compact. A 27kW unit still has a finite heating capacity, and colder incoming water requires more energy to reach the same outlet temperature.

HOW IT WORKS

How Does the Rheem Eclipse 27kW Work?

The Eclipse does not maintain a tank of hot water. When a hot tap opens and water flow exceeds the minimum activation rate, the unit automatically energises its electric heating elements and modulates heating output according to demand.

Hot Tap Opens

The heater detects water flow once the activation threshold is reached.

Elements Energise

Nickel-chrome heating elements transfer electrical energy directly into the flowing water.

Output Is Controlled

The electronic control system modulates heating according to water flow and the selected outlet temperature.

No stored reserve: unlike an electric storage cylinder, an instantaneous system does not have a tank of already-heated water to draw from. Its hot water performance at any moment is determined by the unit's heating capacity and operating conditions.

VERIFIED FEATURES

TEMPERATURE OPTIONS

Rheem Eclipse 27kW 50Β°C vs 60Β°C Models

The 27kW Eclipse is produced in separate 50Β°C-limited and 60Β°C maximum-temperature versions. They use the same 27kW heating platform but have different maximum preset outlet temperatures.

Specification 27kW 50Β°C 27kW 60Β°C
Model 6C327500A 6C327600A
Rated Power 27kW 27kW
Electrical Supply 380–415V AC 3 Phase 380–415V AC 3 Phase
Maximum Preset Outlet Temperature 50Β°C 60Β°C
Temperature Adjustment Up to the permitted 50Β°C model limit Up to 60Β°C
Primary Difference Factory-limited model for applications requiring water not exceeding 50Β°C from the appliance. Higher maximum outlet setting for installations where the plumbing design and temperature-control requirements suit a 60Β°C model.
Choose the model for the installation, not preference alone. Outlet-temperature requirements depend on the application and plumbing design. JR can determine which Eclipse version suits the proposed installation.

TOUCH-SCREEN CONTROL

Temperature Memories & Bath Mode

The Eclipse touch-screen interface includes three saved temperature options for faster access to commonly used settings.

M1 Memory

Factory preset at 38Β°C and able to be changed and saved to suit the user's preferred setting within the permitted temperature range.

M2 Memory

Factory preset at 41Β°C and independently adjustable for another frequently used hot water temperature.

Bath Mode

Factory preset at 38Β°C, with the Bath temperature adjustable between 32Β°C and 41Β°C.

Bath Mode is a temperature preset. It should not be confused with an automatic bath-fill volume controller. The Eclipse interface recalls the programmed bath temperature but does not automatically fill a bath to a selected litre volume.

REAL-WORLD FLOW

How Much Hot Water Can a 27kW Electric Instant System Deliver?

The answer depends on the temperature rise the heater has to produce. The colder the incoming water and the hotter the selected outlet temperature, the lower the sustainable hot water flow for a fixed 27kW heating input.

Warmer Inlet Water

When incoming water is warmer, the heater requires less energy per litre to reach the target temperature, allowing greater potential flow.

Colder Inlet Water

Cold winter inlet temperatures increase the required temperature rise, reducing the flow that can be heated to the same outlet temperature.

Multiple Outlets

Opening several outlets at once divides the available heating capacity. If total demand exceeds what the heater can raise to the selected temperature, outlet temperature or individual flow can fall.

Two showers are condition-dependent. Rheem's technical tables show the 27kW models can support two 9L/min shower applications under certain inlet-temperature and model conditions, but this should not be treated as a universal two-shower guarantee. Actual capability depends on water temperature, flow, pressure, voltage and selected outlet temperature.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

What Is Required to Install a Rheem Eclipse 27kW?

Electrical suitability is the most important installation check. A 27kW instantaneous electric heater is a substantial electrical load and requires considerably more than a standard single-phase appliance circuit.

Suitable three-phase supply with sufficient available capacity for the water heater and the property's other electrical loads.
Dedicated fixed wiring sized and protected for the water heater in accordance with the applicable electrical requirements.
Required electrical isolation provided in accordance with the installation instructions and wiring rules.
Suitable indoor mounting location with service access and appropriate clearances.
Adequate water pressure and flow to achieve the required hot water performance.
Suitable pressure control where incoming mains pressure exceeds the manufacturer's permitted limit.
Correct hot and cold water connections with pipe sizing that does not unnecessarily restrict flow.
Qualified plumbing and electrical installation followed by commissioning and operational testing.

Three-phase power alone does not guarantee suitability. The available electrical capacity still needs to be assessed. A property can have three-phase supply but still require switchboard, protection, cabling or circuit upgrades before a 27kW continuous-flow unit can be installed.

INSTALLATION LOCATION

Where Can the Rheem Eclipse 27kW Be Installed?

Rheem specifies the Eclipse as an indoor-only water heater. It is designed for vertical wall mounting with the water and electrical connections at the underside of the appliance.

The compact 470mm Γ— 226mm Γ— 95mm body makes it substantially smaller than a conventional storage cylinder, but installation space still needs to allow safe access for installation, inspection and future servicing.

Close to Hot Water Use

Locating an instantaneous heater reasonably close to frequently used outlets can reduce the volume of cooled water sitting in long hot-water pipe runs.

Accessible for Servicing

The complete front panel needs to remain accessible for service, and the unit should not require unsafe access equipment for normal maintenance.

Suitable Wet-Area Position

The unit carries an IP25 rating, but placement in bathrooms, laundries or similar areas still needs to comply with the applicable electrical installation requirements.

JR INSTALLATION

What's Included With Rheem Eclipse 27kW Installation?

JR's live selector above contains the current installation packages for this product. The selected package determines the included plumbing and electrical scope.

Water Heater Supply

Supply of the applicable Rheem Eclipse 27kW continuous-flow electric water heater as part of the selected installation package.

Plumbing Installation

Connection of the heater to suitable water services, including the plumbing work included in the chosen JR package.

Electrical Installation

Electrical connection or upgrades as included within the selected package and required for the site's existing electrical configuration.

Testing & Commissioning

The installed unit is commissioned and checked for operation before handover.

Package selection matters on this product. A like-for-like replacement using suitable existing three-phase wiring is very different from converting a property from storage hot water and installing a completely new 27kW three-phase circuit.

CURRENT INSTALLED PRICING

How Much Does Rheem Eclipse 27kW Installation Cost?

Current supplied-and-installed pricing is shown in the live package selector above. JR uses multiple installation packages because electrical continuous-flow installations can vary significantly between properties.

Like-for-Like Replacement

Replacing an existing comparable 27kW three-phase instantaneous heater can be simpler where the existing circuit, switchboard capacity and plumbing remain suitable.

Electrical Modifications

Changes to cabling, isolation, circuit protection or the switchboard can increase the installation scope.

New Three-Phase Circuit

Converting from another hot water type can require substantial new electrical infrastructure in addition to the plumbing installation.

MODEL COMPARISON

Rheem Eclipse 18kW vs 27kW

Rheem currently offers the Eclipse continuous-flow electric platform in both 18kW and 27kW three-phase versions. The main difference is available heating capacity.

Specification Eclipse 18kW Eclipse 27kW
Rated Power 18kW 27kW
Electrical Supply 3 Phase 3 Phase
Rated Current Approximately 26A/phase Approximately 37.6A/phase
Activation Flow 2.8L/min 2.8L/min
Published Maximum Flow Approximately 7.4–7.7L/min with the factory flow regulator under Rheem's specified conditions Nominally 12L/min in Rheem's current technical specification
Best Direction Lower-demand applications where 18kW capacity is sufficient. Higher-demand applications where the electrical supply can support the larger 27kW load.
Do not select by kW alone. The 27kW model provides more heating capacity, but it also requires more electrical capacity. The best choice depends on both hot water demand and what the property's electrical infrastructure can support.

REPLACEMENT COMPATIBILITY

Can the Rheem Eclipse 27kW Replace My Existing Hot Water System?

It can, but replacement complexity depends heavily on what is already installed.

Existing 27kW 3 Phase Instant

A replacement of a comparable three-phase instantaneous heater may be relatively direct where the existing electrical circuit, water services and installation location remain suitable.

Different Instant Electric Model

Changing between brands or capacities can require plumbing alterations and electrical changes even though both systems are three-phase instantaneous units.

Storage System Conversion

Changing from electric storage, heat pump, gas or another hot water technology can require a completely different plumbing and electrical installation approach.

Electrical assessment should come before assuming a conversion is practical. Installing a 27kW continuous-flow heater can require a new high-capacity three-phase circuit and may not be the most economical upgrade for every property.

BRISBANE INSTALLATION

Rheem Eclipse 27kW Installation Brisbane

JR Gas & Water supplies and installs the Rheem Eclipse 27kW across eligible Brisbane service areas for properties where three-phase instantaneous electric hot water is technically suitable.

Brisbane installations range from like-for-like replacements of existing Stiebel, Rheem or similar three-phase instantaneous units through to more involved conversions where new electrical infrastructure is required. The important first step is confirming the available supply capacity and the flow required by the property.

For suitable properties, the Eclipse offers a compact indoor hot water solution without a storage cylinder. Where the electrical upgrade required would be excessive, JR can also compare storage electric, heat pump or other hot water pathways before the installation is committed.

GOLD COAST INSTALLATION

Rheem Eclipse 27kW Installation Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water provides Rheem Eclipse 27kW installation across eligible Gold Coast service areas for homes, apartments and other suitable properties with appropriate three-phase electrical capacity.

Gold Coast suitability can depend on both the site's electrical infrastructure and the required temperature rise. Incoming water temperature, selected outlet temperature and simultaneous water use all influence how much heated water a fixed 27kW appliance can deliver.

Where a comparable instantaneous electric heater is already installed, replacement may be relatively straightforward. New conversions should be assessed around switchboard capacity, circuit requirements, water flow and whether another hot water technology offers a better overall installation outcome.

WARRANTY & OWNERSHIP

Rheem Eclipse Warranty & Ongoing Ownership

Rheem's current Eclipse warranty documentation covers the 6C327500A and 6C327600A models. For a single-family residential installation, Rheem currently provides up to five years of repair and/or replacement coverage on covered components, including labour, subject to the full warranty conditions.

Commercial and non-single-family applications have different manufacturer warranty periods, so the exact warranty should be checked against the intended use of the property.

The JR product page also currently identifies the Eclipse 27kW as eligible for JR's Lifetime Warranty program. JR Lifetime Warranty eligibility and Rheem's manufacturer warranty are separate forms of coverage and each remains subject to its own terms and conditions.

Correct installation matters for warranty. Rheem's warranty conditions require the unit to be installed and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and applicable requirements.

Gas continuous flow hot water systems provide hot water on demand, heating water only as it passes through the appliance. With no storage tank, these systems are highly efficient and can provide an endless supply of hot water when correctly sized and maintained.

Like any gas appliance, regular maintenance is recommended to ensure safe operation, maintain peak efficiency and support your manufacturer's warranty.

Homeowner Maintenance – Every 6 Months

Every six months we recommend carrying out a simple visual inspection of your continuous flow hot water system.

Homeowners should:

  • Check for water leaks around the unit and pipework.
  • Ensure the gas supply is turned on.
  • Keep the area around the appliance free from leaves, dirt and debris.
  • Ensure the air intake and flue terminal remain unobstructed.
  • Inspect visible pipework for corrosion or damage.

Early servicing can often prevent costly repairs and keep your hot water system operating reliably.

Protect Your Warranty & Maximise System Life

Routine maintenance helps keep your gas continuous flow hot water system operating safely, efficiently and reliably.

Following the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule may also assist in maintaining warranty coverage.

Failure to maintain your system may result in:

  • Reduced heating efficiency.
  • Increased gas consumption.
  • Ignition or burner faults.
  • Heat exchanger damage.
  • Unexpected loss of hot water.
  • Shortened component lifespan.
  • Possible reduction or loss of manufacturer warranty, depending on the manufacturer's maintenance requirements.

Preventative maintenance is a cost-effective way to protect your investment, maintain efficient operation and maximise the life of your gas continuous flow hot water system.

Please note: Maintenance requirements vary between manufacturers and models. Always refer to your owner's manual for the maintenance schedule applicable to your gas continuous flow hot water system.
