    What is an STC?

STC stands for Small-scale Technology Certificate. It is part of an Australian Government scheme designed to encourage energy-efficient hot water systems and other eligible renewable technologies.

    How does it work?

When your new system qualifies, STCs are created based on the expected energy savings and location of the installation. These certificates have a value, and that value is applied as an upfront discount to help reduce the installed cost.

How is it shown on our jobs?

For eligible systems, the STC value is already included as a flat rate $1000 upfront discount in the total installed price shown, so you do not need to claim it separately after installation.

    Who is eligible?

Eligibility generally applies to installations of approved systems at Australian homes and businesses where the product, property type, and installation details meet current STC program requirements.

If you are unsure whether your property or system qualifies, contact us before ordering and we can help confirm it.

Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE Installation in Brisbane & Gold Coast

If you are looking for Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE installation in Brisbane or the Gold Coast, JR Gas & Water provides practical advice, supply and installation, and professional replacement services for homes that suit this style of system. The Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE is a split heat pump hot water system designed to use ambient air to heat stored water efficiently, making it a strong option for homeowners who want a modern electric alternative to a standard storage tank. For the right home, it can be a smart solution for hot water replacement, a like-for-like upgrade, or a new supply and installation where location, airflow, pipe runs, drainage, and electrical setup have been properly considered.

What Is the Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE?

The Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE is a split heat pump hot water system with a 315 litre vitreous enamel storage tank and a separate heat pump module. Instead of relying only on direct electric resistance heating, it draws energy from the surrounding air to heat the stored water, which can deliver strong efficiency benefits compared with a conventional electric storage system.

Unlike an integrated one-piece heat pump, this model separates the tank and the heat pump module. That gives more installation flexibility where space is tight or where the tank and the heat pump need to be positioned differently. The heat pump module can be ground mounted or wall mounted, while the tank can be installed up to several metres away, including in suitable indoor locations such as a garage. For homes with narrow side access or awkward layouts, that split design can be a major practical advantage.

Why Choose the Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE?

One of the main reasons people choose the Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE is because it combines strong heat pump efficiency with the installation flexibility of a split system. For the right home, that can mean lower running costs than a conventional electric water heater while still giving a more adaptable layout than many integrated heat pump models.

This model also stands out because it is designed as a higher-capacity system for family households. The 315 litre vitreous enamel tank gives substantial stored hot water volume, while the split heat exchanger design helps where a standard all-in-one unit may not physically suit the available space. It is also designed to operate across a wide ambient temperature range, making it a more practical option in varied conditions than many lower-end alternatives.

The Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE will also appeal to buyers who want a recognised Australian market brand, a user-friendly touchscreen controller, and a system built around both efficiency and practical installation flexibility rather than just upfront price.

Is the Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE Right for Your Home?

The Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE can be a very good fit for homes that want an efficient heat pump hot water system and need more flexibility than an all-in-one heat pump can offer. A 315 litre split heat pump system is generally well suited to larger households, stronger daily hot water demand, or homes with multiple bathrooms and busier usage patterns. It is often positioned for homes with up to six people, which makes it a strong family-sized option.

It may suit homeowners replacing a similar-sized electric storage system, upgrading from a less efficient unit, or choosing a heat pump for a new installation where a split system layout makes more sense. It can be particularly useful in narrow spaces, sites where the tank location and the heat pump location need to be separated, or properties where the tank may be better positioned indoors while the heat pump module sits outside.

It is not the right answer for every property though. Split heat pump systems depend on more than just available space. The installation needs to consider the tank position, module position, water circulation pipework between the two components, wall or ground mounting suitability, drainage, service access, and airflow around the heat pump module. JR Gas & Water considers the intended layout, the existing system, plumbing arrangement, electrical supply, and how the home actually uses hot water before recommending the installation path.

Why Choose a Quality Hot Water System Instead of a Cheaper Alternative?

A hot water system is not just about the appliance price on the day of purchase. It is also about how efficiently it runs, how reliably it performs, how well it is supported, and how long it continues to suit the household. A recognised model like the Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE gives homeowners more confidence in build quality, efficiency, parts support, and long-term ownership than many cheaper alternatives.

That matters even more with a split heat pump, because there is more to get right in both the product and the installation. A quality unit from a recognised brand is more likely to deliver the performance, recovery, and long-term support that homeowners expect when they invest in a more advanced hot water system. Better controls, broader installation flexibility, and stronger brand backing can all make a real difference over time.

For many homeowners, choosing a better heat pump up front is really about reducing the risk of disappointment later. When a system is being supplied and installed into your home, long-term efficiency, reliability, and product support are usually worth more than the smallest upfront saving.

Professional Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE Installation in Brisbane & Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water provides professional Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE installation in Brisbane & Gold Coast for customers who want the system installed properly to suit their property, services, and household needs. We take an installation-led approach because split heat pump hot water systems need more than a simple swap-over to perform properly. The final result depends on choosing the right tank location, the right module location, making sure the airflow and clearances are suitable, and ensuring the plumbing and electrical setup match the system.

For split heat pump installations, the job is not just about placing the new tank where the old one was. It also needs to suit access, base support, wall mounting or ground mounting for the heat pump module, circulation pipework between components, drainage, surrounding space, and the practical day-to-day use of the property. That is why hot water installation in Brisbane or hot water installation on the Gold Coast should be assessed as a proper installation project, not just treated as a simple product delivery.

JR Gas & Water services Brisbane and the Gold Coast, along with surrounding areas including Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and Redlands. Whether you need a straight hot water replacement in Brisbane or a new split heat pump hot water system installed by licensed professionals, we help make sure the system and installation path are right for the home.

What’s Involved in Installing the Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE?

A standard Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE installation will usually involve supplying the genuine system, removing the old system where applicable, positioning the new storage tank in a suitable location, mounting or placing the heat pump module in a suitable external position, connecting the water circulation lines between the components, connecting the system to existing plumbing and electrical services where those services are suitable, testing the system, commissioning it, and providing basic operating guidance.

As with most hot water replacements, final installation scope depends on what is already at the property. Some jobs are straightforward replacements, while others may require extra works to suit the new split system properly. Depending on the site, that may include valve upgrades, tempering valve work, base considerations, drainage provisions, wall bracket requirements, pressure limiting valve requirements, relocation pipework, electrical adjustments, or extra work to achieve a practical tank-to-module layout.

Because this is a split heat pump hot water system, installation position and pipe run practicality are major considerations. The heat pump module needs suitable airflow and service access, while the tank location needs to make sense for the home and plumbing layout. JR Gas & Water keeps the process practical and clear so customers understand what is standard, what may vary, and what may be needed for a safe and compliant installation.

Why Choose JR Gas & Water?

JR Gas & Water is not just supplying a product. We help customers choose the right hot water setup for their home and make sure the installation suits the property, existing system, plumbing layout, power supply, available space, and intended use. That matters with a model like the Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE, because the best result depends on both the heat pump system and the installation design being right for the home.

Customers choose JR Gas & Water because we understand real hot water replacement work in real homes, not just brochure features. We look at whether the current system is a straightforward replacement, whether the proposed tank and module locations are suitable, whether extra plumbing or mounting work is needed, and whether the setup makes sense for the household’s usage. For homeowners looking for reliable installers in Brisbane or the Gold Coast, that more practical approach helps reduce guesswork and leads to a better installation outcome.

Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE Installation FAQs

How much does Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE installation cost in Brisbane or the Gold Coast?
The final cost depends on whether it is a straightforward replacement or whether extra plumbing, drainage, mounting, valve, or electrical works are required. A simple replacement is usually more straightforward than a job needing a more complex split-system layout.

Is the Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE right for my home?
It can be a strong option if you want an efficient larger-capacity heat pump hot water system and your property has a suitable layout for both the tank and the heat pump module. Household size, hot water usage, and available installation space should all be considered.

What is included in a standard Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE installation?
A standard installation usually includes supply of the system, removal of the old system where applicable, installation to suitable existing services, testing, commissioning, and basic handover. Any additional works needed at the property can be quoted separately.

Can the Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE replace my current system?
In many cases, yes, particularly where it is replacing a larger electric storage system. Suitability depends on the available tank location, heat pump module location, plumbing arrangement, drainage, and whether the property is suited to a split heat pump installation.

Can JR Gas & Water install the Rheem AmbiPower 5kW Split Heat Pump System VE in my area?
JR Gas & Water installs hot water systems across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and surrounding service areas. If you are unsure whether your property is within range, we can confirm serviceability and the best installation path for your location.

How Do STC Rebates Work?

Small-scale Technology Certificates, or STCs, are part of the Australian Government’s renewable energy scheme. Eligible heat pump and solar hot water systems can generate STCs, which carry a monetary value. JR Gas & Water applies this value as an upfront rebate so customers see a reduced out-of-pocket price on eligible products rather than needing to claim anything later themselves.

For clarity, JR Gas & Water uses a flat-rate STC rebate of $1,000 including GST on eligible systems. This means the price shown online is the customer’s out-of-pocket price after the rebate has already been applied. It is not the full gross system price before the rebate.

As an example, if a system is advertised online at $4,000, the gross system price is $5,000, less the $1,000 STC rebate, leaving the advertised out-of-pocket amount of $4,000.

This upfront rebate is offered on the basis that the installation will be completed compliantly, the system will remain eligible for STCs, and JR Gas & Water will be able to create, process, and receive the value of those certificates after installation. We handle the STC paperwork and process behind the scenes, but the rebate is conditional and relies on the job proceeding correctly from start to finish.

Who Is Eligible?

In general, customers may be eligible for the STC rebate where they are purchasing an approved solar hot water system, heat pump hot water system, or other eligible product that qualifies under the applicable scheme rules at the time of installation.

Eligibility generally requires that:
the product itself is STC eligible,
the installation address is eligible,
the system is installed in Australia,
the installation is completed in a compliant manner,
the system is capable of being properly verified,
and the customer provides any required information, declarations, signatures, and supporting documents needed to process the STCs.

Where JR Gas & Water advertises an eligible system with the rebate already applied, the customer is agreeing that the STCs will be assigned to JR Gas & Water or its nominated agent as part of the sale. That assignment is what allows the rebate to be applied upfront instead of the customer paying full price.

When Is the Rebate Not Available or Not Valid?

The STC rebate is not an automatic discount in every situation. It is only available where the installation proceeds fully and remains eligible for STC creation and assignment.

A customer may not be eligible, or may be required to repay the rebate amount, where:

the order is cancelled after rebate pricing has been applied,
the customer declines installation,
the site is not ready,
access is refused,
the installation cannot proceed due to hazards, animals, obstructions, or unsafe conditions,
the customer wants to keep the STCs personally,
required paperwork is not signed or returned,
incorrect or incomplete information is provided,
the property or system turns out not to qualify,
the quoted eligible product is changed,
a third party interferes with, alters, completes, disconnects, reconnects, or modifies the installation,
required compliance or upgrade works are refused,
or the installation cannot be lawfully completed in a way that allows the STCs to be validly claimed.

This also includes situations where another contractor performs part of the work in a way that affects eligibility, or where changes made by the customer or another trade prevent JR Gas & Water from receiving the STC benefit that the upfront rebate was based on.

What Happens If the Customer Does Not Proceed?

Where a customer accepts pricing that already includes the STC rebate and then cancels, postpones, declines installation, refuses access, or otherwise prevents the installation from being completed, JR Gas & Water may recover the full $1,000 STC rebate amount in addition to any other applicable cancellation, postponement, restocking, freight, attendance, or administrative charges.

This is because the lower advertised price was offered on the basis that JR Gas & Water would receive the benefit of the STCs after compliant completion of the installation. If the job does not proceed, that STC benefit cannot be recovered by JR Gas & Water, so the rebate amount becomes payable.

Can the Customer Keep the STCs Instead?

Yes, but not at the rebate-adjusted price.

If the customer wishes to keep, trade, or claim the STCs themselves, they must notify JR Gas & Water in writing before the order is accepted, or at the latest before installation begins. In that case, the customer must pay the full $1,000 including GST rebate amount before installation unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Estimated annual savings are calculated by comparing the heat pump’s energy efficiency (measured as COP – Coefficient of Performance) against a standard electric hot water system with a COP of 1.0. For example, if a heat pump has a COP of 4.0, it uses 75% less electricity to deliver the same amount of hot water.

Savings are based on average household usage for a family of five on Tariff 11 (general usage tariff), using manufacturer-stated COP values. The higher the COP, the greater the energy savings.

Bonus savings: When paired with a solar PV system, energy costs can drop even further — with some households seeing up to 50% additional savings, especially when the heat pump runs during solar generation times.

Disclaimer:

All estimated savings are based on manufacturer-provided COP values and standard usage assumptions (e.g. a family of five on Tariff 11). These figures are intended as a general guide to help compare different hot water units and technologies. Actual savings may vary depending on your household’s usage, energy rates, and installation conditions. We recommend conducting your own research or consulting an energy advisor to assess what’s best for your specific setup.
