PURETEC ALL-IN-ONE RAINWATER FILTRATION + PUMP + UV

Puretec HYBRID-P12 Installation Brisbane & Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water supplies and installs the Puretec HYBRID-P12 across eligible Brisbane and Gold Coast properties for homes wanting an integrated rainwater pump, three-stage filtration, UV treatment and automatic mains-water backup in one weather-protected cabinet.

The current Puretec HYBRID-P12-LF combines a Grundfos CMB-SP 5-47 pressure pump, PM2 pressure controller, three 20-inch MaxiPlus™ filtration cartridges, Radfire™ ultraviolet treatment and a standard mains-to-rain changeover controller.

It is designed primarily around whole-house rainwater use where dependable pressure and a more complete treatment pathway are required. Rather than installing a separate pump, filters, UV chamber and changeover equipment around the tank, the P12 packages the main equipment into one integrated serviceable enclosure.

Quick answer: the Puretec HYBRID-P12 is a premium all-in-one whole-house rainwater system with an 86 L/min Grundfos pump, PL05MP2 + CB05MP2 + PX01MP2 filtration, RL6 UV lamp, RQS6 quartz sleeve and standard mains-to-rain changeover. Puretec rates the UV chamber at 70 L/min at 30 mJ/cm² — its stated drinking-water industry-standard UV dose — so pump flow and UV treatment flow should not be treated as the same specification.

Puretec HYBRID-P12 at a Glance

Pump Flow 86 L/min
UV @ 30 mJ/cm² 70 L/min
Filtration 3 × 20"
Mains Backup Standard

What Is the Puretec HYBRID-P12?

The HYBRID-P12 is Puretec's higher-pump-output HybridPlus configuration with integrated mains-to-rain changeover.

It combines water pressure, physical filtration, carbon treatment and ultraviolet treatment inside a lockable cabinet designed for outdoor installation. Puretec describes the enclosure as weatherproof, rodent resistant and tamper resistant, with gull-wing access doors and adjustable feet.

Integrated Grundfos Pump

The P12 includes a CMB-SP 5-47 pump rated by Puretec at 0.9 kW with an 86 L/min published pump flow.

Three Filtration Stages

Three 20-inch cartridges progressively treat sediment, taste, odour and chlorine before water reaches the UV chamber.

Standard Mains Backup

The P12 includes the mains-to-rain controller as standard to support automatic backup from the municipal water supply when configured correctly.

How the HYBRID-P12 Treats Rainwater

1

PL05MP2 Sediment

A washable 5-micron pleated polyester cartridge provides the first sediment-filtration stage and helps manage dirt and suspended material.

2

CB05MP2 Carbon

A 5-micron bonded carbon block provides treatment for sediment, chlorine, unwanted taste and odour before the fine sediment stage.

3

PX01MP2 Fine Sediment

A nominal 1-micron graded polypropylene depth cartridge reduces fine dirt, rust, sand, silt, algae and other suspended particles.

4

Radfire™ UV

The final treatment stage uses ultraviolet light for Puretec's documented microbiological treatment before water continues into the household plumbing.

UV is the final treatment stage. Effective UV treatment depends on suitable pre-filtration and water clarity. The three cartridge stages are therefore part of the treatment pathway rather than optional accessories ahead of the lamp.

What Does the Puretec HYBRID-P12 Treat?

Sediment & Fine Particles

The system uses progressive 5-micron and 1-micron filtration to reduce dirt, rust, sand, silt, algae and other suspended particulate.

Taste, Odour & Chlorine

The CB05MP2 bonded activated-carbon stage provides manufacturer-listed reduction of chlorine, unwanted taste, odour and sediment.

Microbiological Treatment

Puretec's exact P12 page states its Radfire™ UV treatment provides 99.9% treatment performance against E. coli, Giardia and Cryptosporidium cysts under the specified operating conditions.

UV performance is conditional. UV does not remove sediment, dissolved minerals or chemicals, and filtration does not replace UV treatment. Catchment condition, tank maintenance, water clarity, flow and lamp condition all contribute to the complete rainwater-treatment result.

Pump Flow vs UV Treatment Flow

The P12's published 86 L/min pump flow is not the same thing as its UV treatment capacity.

Specification Published Flow What It Means
Grundfos Pump Flow 86 L/min Published pump output for the CMB-SP 5-47 pressure system
UV Dose @ 40 mJ/cm² 54 L/min Higher UV dose at the lower published flow
UV Dose @ 30 mJ/cm² 70 L/min Puretec identifies 30 mJ/cm² as the industry-standard drinking-water dose
UV Dose @ 16 mJ/cm² 130 L/min Lower UV dose at the higher published flow
Do not size drinking-water performance from the 86 L/min pump figure alone. Where the 30 mJ/cm² UV design point is being used, Puretec publishes 70 L/min for the UV chamber.

Who Is the Puretec HYBRID-P12 Best For?

Whole-House Rainwater Homes

Well suited to properties where tank water supplies bathrooms, kitchen, laundry and general household fixtures rather than only outdoor taps.

Higher Water Demand

The larger CMB-SP 5-47 pump makes the P12 relevant where stronger household pump performance is required than Puretec's smaller P3/P9 pump configuration.

Homes Needing Mains Backup

The standard mains-to-rain controller makes the P12 particularly relevant where rainwater is the preferred supply but municipal-water backup is required.

Is the HYBRID-P12 Right for Your Property?

Good Choice

  • Rainwater tank supplies the house
  • Existing pump also needs replacement
  • UV treatment is required
  • Higher household water demand is expected
  • Mains-water backup is required
  • Premium enclosed equipment is preferred
  • Regular filtration and UV servicing is acceptable

Consider Another System

  • Existing pump is already suitable and should be retained
  • Only basic sediment filtration is required
  • Available installation space is limited
  • Household demand suits a smaller pump platform
  • Water source needs specialised treatment beyond the P12 configuration
  • A newer compact Hybrid E system better suits the job

JR Should Check

  • Rainwater tank condition and outlet
  • Suction distance and pump position
  • Mains-water backup connection
  • Household peak water demand
  • Available power supply
  • Cabinet clearances and ventilation
  • Source-water quality where unusual conditions exist

Electrical current specification: current Puretec source material contains conflicting maximum-current figures for the P12. This description intentionally does not hard-code a maximum-current value; the installed unit nameplate and current installation documentation should be used when confirming electrical requirements.

Cabinet Clearance & Service Access

The P12 enclosure is approximately 844 mm wide × 970 mm high × 472 mm deep, but the appliance footprint is not the entire space requirement.

Puretec's HybridPlus specification also identifies access allowances for opening the gull-wing doors and replacing the vertical UV lamp.

Side Door Clearance

Puretec's published drawing shows approximately 380 mm of side clearance for each swing door.

UV Lamp Clearance

Approximately 700 mm of clearance above the unit is shown for lamp servicing and removal.

Front Access

Approximately 260 mm of front clearance is identified around the open access-door arrangement.

Do not box the P12 tightly into a corner. Service access and ventilation are part of the installation requirement, particularly because cartridges, UV components and pump equipment all need future maintenance.

How the Mains-to-Rain Changeover Works

The P12 includes a mains-to-rain controller as standard. This allows the installed system to use rainwater as the normal supply while providing a pathway to mains water when the rainwater supply is unavailable, subject to the final plumbing configuration.

This makes the P12 different from the P6, which uses the same larger CMB-SP 5-47 pump but does not include the mains-to-rain controller as standard.

The changeover still needs correct plumbing integration. Tank supply, mains supply, isolation, backflow requirements and final connection arrangements need to be completed correctly for the property.

Pump & Tank Requirements

The integrated pump does not remove the need to assess the rainwater tank and suction arrangement.

  • Tank outlet condition checked
  • Suitable tank water level available
  • Tank-to-system pipe sizing checked
  • Suction distance considered
  • Vertical lift considered
  • Air leaks on the suction line avoided
  • Tank sediment condition considered
  • Suitable isolation provided
  • Pump priming requirements followed
  • Mains backup connection confirmed
Puretec publishes a 4 m self-priming specification. Actual pump performance still depends on suction-line layout, friction loss, tank position and the complete hydraulic installation.

Electrical Requirements

The HYBRID-P12 requires a 220–240 V AC, 50 Hz electrical supply for the pump, controls and ultraviolet treatment system.

The supply needs to remain available for UV operation. Puretec's maintenance guide specifically recommends keeping the UV system powered because repeated switching and power fluctuations can shorten lamp service life.

UV treatment stops when power is unavailable. The system can only provide active ultraviolet treatment while the lamp and control equipment are operating correctly.

Rainwater Quality Before Installation

The P12 provides a strong complete treatment platform, but it should not be used as an excuse to ignore the condition of the roof catchment, gutters or tank.

Heavy sludge, unusual colour, chemical contamination, high mineral content or other source-water issues can require additional treatment or maintenance before the P12.

Roof & Gutters

Catchment condition affects the water entering the rainwater tank before filtration begins.

Tank Condition

Accumulated sludge and sediment can increase filter loading and affect long-term maintenance requirements.

Other Water Sources

Puretec states that bore or surface-water applications should be assessed for water quality so additional pre-treatment can be identified where required.

What's Included With JR HYBRID-P12 Installation?

System Installation

Supply and installation of the genuine Puretec HYBRID-P12 under the live JR package selected above, where the existing site and services suit the chosen installation pathway.

Connection & Commissioning

The system is connected to the applicable rainwater, mains-backup and household plumbing arrangement, then tested and commissioned for operation.

Possible Additional Work

Tank plumbing, long suction runs, new power, base work, unusual mains integration, pressure control, difficult access or substantial pipework alterations can require additional scope.

The live JR selector above is the source of truth. Use the current installation package for exact included pipework, electrical scope, base requirements, disposal, mains integration and appointment availability.

How Much Does Puretec HYBRID-P12 Installation Cost?

Current supplied-and-installed pricing is shown in JR's live selector above. The live product configuration should remain the pricing source instead of hard-coding a historical installation amount into this description.

A replacement where the tank, mains backup, electrical supply and household pipework already suit the P12 can be different in scope from a new installation requiring pump plumbing, mains changeover integration, new power and substantial pipework.

Use the current package choices above to match the actual property and installation pathway.

BRISBANE RAINWATER + UV INSTALLATION

Puretec HYBRID-P12 Installation Brisbane

JR Gas & Water supplies and installs the Puretec HYBRID-P12 across eligible Brisbane homes using tank water for whole-house supply.

For Brisbane installations, JR considers the tank location, suction run, mains backup connection, household demand, power availability and position of the cabinet before confirming the installation layout.

Eligible servicing also extends through Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and Redlands, subject to current booking routes and installation conditions.

GOLD COAST RAINWATER + UV INSTALLATION

Puretec HYBRID-P12 Installation Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water also supplies and installs the HYBRID-P12 across eligible Gold Coast rainwater properties needing filtration, UV treatment and an integrated pressure pump.

Gold Coast installations can range from straightforward tank-side replacements to more involved systems where the water tank is remote from the home or the mains backup and household pipework need to be reconfigured.

Maintaining suitable cabinet ventilation and service access is particularly important so the filters, UV lamp, quartz sleeve and pump can be reached without dismantling the surrounding installation.

How Often Does the Puretec HYBRID-P12 Need Servicing?

The HYBRID-P12 has several maintenance items with different service requirements.

Filter Cartridges

Puretec specifies replacement of the filtration cartridges approximately every 6–12 months, depending on water quality and usage.

RL6 UV Lamp

The UV lamp should be replaced annually to maintain the manufacturer's specified UV treatment performance.

Quartz Sleeve

Puretec recommends checking the quartz sleeve approximately every 3 months, depending on source-water quality, and cleaning or replacing it where required.

Maintenance is essential to UV performance. An illuminated lamp does not automatically mean full treatment performance if the lamp has exceeded its service life or the quartz sleeve has become fouled.

Puretec HYBRID-P12 Service Kit

Puretec specifies the HR-G13R11P maintenance kit for all Hybrid P Series systems, including the P12.

Three Replacement Cartridges

The kit contains PL05MP2, CB05MP2 and PX01MP2 to renew the complete three-stage filtration train.

UV Components

The kit includes the RL6 replacement UV lamp and RQS6 quartz sleeve.

Routine Sealing Items

Puretec also includes food-grade lubricant and two replacement O-rings in the complete maintenance kit.

The complete kit suits more than one Puretec system. Puretec currently lists HR-G13R11P for all Hybrid P Series models as well as Hybrid G13 and R11 systems.

HYBRID-P6 vs HYBRID-P12

Feature HYBRID-P6 HYBRID-P12
Filtration PL05MP2 + CB05MP2 + PX01MP2 PL05MP2 + CB05MP2 + PX01MP2
UV RL6 + RQS6 RL6 + RQS6
Pump CMB-SP 5-47 CMB-SP 5-47
Pump Rated Power 0.9 kW 0.9 kW
Published Pump Flow 86 L/min 86 L/min
Mains-to-Rain Controller Not included as standard Standard
Main Selection Difference Pump + filtration + UV without standard mains backup Same larger pump platform with integrated mains-to-rain backup

If the property needs the larger CMB-SP 5-47 pump but does not need integrated mains-water changeover, the P6 configuration is worth comparing. Where automatic mains backup is part of the requirement, the P12 is the corresponding HybridPlus configuration.

HYBRID-P3 vs HYBRID-P12

Feature HYBRID-P3 HYBRID-P12
Filter / UV Treatment Same HybridPlus cartridge and UV platform Same HybridPlus cartridge and UV platform
Pump CMB-SP 3-47 CMB-SP 5-47
Pump Rated Power 0.5 kW 0.9 kW
Published Pump Flow 50 L/min 86 L/min
Mains-to-Rain Controller Not included as standard Standard
Typical Reason to Compare Lower pump-demand installation Higher pump demand plus mains backup

The larger pump does not automatically make the P12 the right choice. Household demand, tank position, pipework and UV design flow still need to be considered together.

Puretec HYBRID-P12 Warranty

Puretec currently lists a 3-year system warranty for the HYBRID-P12, with parts and labour for the first year where applicable and parts coverage for the remaining manufacturer warranty period, subject to approval and the current warranty conditions.

The integrated Grundfos pump is excluded from that Puretec three-year component structure and is covered by a separate 2-year Grundfos back-to-base warranty under Puretec's published terms.

Filter cartridges, UV lamps and other scheduled consumable maintenance items should not be treated as having the same warranty coverage as permanent system components.

JR Lifetime Warranty is separate. JR's current live P12 product is listed as Lifetime Warranty eligible, but JR eligibility, workmanship coverage and servicing conditions are separate from Puretec and Grundfos manufacturer warranties.
