    What is an STC?

STC stands for Small-scale Technology Certificate. It is part of an Australian Government scheme designed to encourage energy-efficient hot water systems and other eligible renewable technologies.

    How does it work?

When your new system qualifies, STCs are created based on the expected energy savings and location of the installation. These certificates have a value, and that value is applied as an upfront discount to help reduce the installed cost.

How is it shown on our jobs?

For eligible systems, the STC value is already included as a flat rate $1000 upfront discount in the total installed price shown, so you do not need to claim it separately after installation.

    Who is eligible?

Eligibility generally applies to installations of approved systems at Australian homes and businesses where the product, property type, and installation details meet current STC program requirements.

If you are unsure whether your property or system qualifies, contact us before ordering and we can help confirm it.

ENVIROSUN SOLAR HOT WATER INSTALLATION

Envirosun TS300/60 Installation Brisbane & Gold Coast

JR Gas & Water supplies and installs the Envirosun TS300/60 solar hot water system across eligible Brisbane and Gold Coast service areas. It is a roof-mounted thermosiphon solar hot water system that combines a large stainless steel storage tank with three flat-plate solar collectors.

The current Envirosun TS300/60Se provides 304 litres of nominal storage and uses three E20HS solar collectors. Compared with the TS300/40, the TS300/60 keeps the same storage capacity but adds a third collector, increasing the available solar collector area for properties where greater solar input is appropriate.

The TS range uses an open-circuit thermosiphon design. The storage tank sits above the collectors on the roof and hot water circulates naturally through the solar system without an active solar circulation pump. Because the complete tank and collector assembly is roof mounted, roof suitability, safe access, structural conditions, plumbing and the selected booster arrangement are critical parts of the installation.

Envirosun TS300/60 at a glance: The current TS300/60 is a 304L roof-mounted thermosiphon solar hot water system with three E20HS flat-plate collectors. It uses natural thermosiphon circulation, so no pump is required for solar operation. Electric and gas-boosted versions are available. JR Gas & Water supplies and installs the TS300/60 across eligible Brisbane and Gold Coast areas, subject to roof, access, plumbing and installation suitability.

Envirosun TS300/60 Supply & Installation at a Glance

Product Type

Open-circuit roof-mounted thermosiphon solar hot water system.

Storage Capacity

304L nominal storage in Envirosun's current TS300/60 specification.

Solar Collectors

Three E20HS flat-plate collectors for greater collector area than the TS300/40.

Installation Area

Professional supply and installation across eligible Brisbane and Gold Coast service areas.

Who Is the Envirosun TS300/60 Best For?

Higher Solar Collection Requirements

The TS300/60 uses three collectors rather than the two used by the TS300/40, making it worth considering where additional collector area is appropriate for the household and installation site.

Roof-Mounted Solar Buyers

The storage tank and collectors are all roof mounted, so the system suits properties where keeping hot water equipment off the ground is preferred and the roof can accommodate the complete installation.

Medium-to-Large Household Demand

Envirosun positions the 304L TS300 platform for medium-to-large households. Final suitability still depends on how and when hot water is used rather than storage volume alone.

PRODUCT SUITABILITY

Is the Envirosun TS300/60 Right for My Home?

A Good Choice If...

You want a roof-mounted thermosiphon system, your roof can accommodate three solar collectors and the tank, and you want greater available solar collector area than the standard two-collector TS300/40 arrangement.

Consider Another Option If...

Your roof has limited usable area, poor solar exposure, difficult access or is unsuitable for the full roof-mounted system. A TS300/40, active split solar system or heat pump may make more practical sense on some properties.

JR Should Check First If...

You are converting from a ground-mounted system, relocating the hot water system, changing booster type, have unusual roof construction or are unsure whether the existing roof and plumbing can accommodate the larger three-collector footprint.

How Many People Does the Envirosun TS300/60 Suit?

Envirosun currently describes the 304L TS300 platform as suitable for medium-to-large households. Its wider thermosiphon range is presented across applications of approximately two to six people, but that should not be interpreted as an exact occupant rating for every TS300/60 installation.

The TS300/60 provides 304L nominal storage, but household sizing also depends on shower duration and flow rates, bathrooms, baths, simultaneous demand, dishwasher and laundry use, booster operation and the timing of hot water consumption.

The additional third collector affects available solar collection rather than storage volume. The TS300/40 and TS300/60 both use 304L storage, so choosing between them should consider the installation site and solar collection requirements as well as household demand.

How Does the Envirosun TS300/60 Work?

The TS300/60 uses natural thermosiphon circulation. The storage tank is installed above the three collectors on the roof. As water in the collectors is heated by the sun, the warmer water becomes less dense and rises into the storage tank while cooler water moves back toward the collectors.

This natural circulation means an active solar circulation pump is not required. Envirosun specifically describes the TS thermosiphon range as requiring no pump for solar operation.

The process is simple: sunlight heats the roof collectors → heated water rises naturally into the storage tank → cooler water returns to the collectors → stored hot water becomes available to the household → the electric or gas booster provides supplementary heating when required.

The TS is an open-circuit system, meaning normal system water circulates through the solar collectors. This is different from Envirosun's THX range, which uses an indirect closed solar circuit.

Key Features of the Envirosun TS300/60

304L Storage Capacity

The current TS300/60 provides 304L nominal storage using Envirosun's roof-mounted TS300 tank.

Three E20HS Collectors

The electric-boosted TS300/60Se uses three E20HS flat-plate collectors, providing more collector area than the two-collector TS300/40Se.

Natural Thermosiphon Circulation

Solar heat circulation occurs naturally between the roof-mounted collectors and storage tank, so no active pump is required for solar operation.

444 Grade Stainless Steel Tank

Envirosun currently specifies premium grade 444 ferritic stainless steel tank construction across its TS range.

Electric or Gas Boosting

The TS300/60 is available with either electric or gas backup heating, allowing the booster configuration to be matched to available services.

What's Included With Envirosun TS300/60 Installation?

Standard Installation

The selected JR installation package covers the applicable standard labour and materials described in the live product selector. Depending on the package, this can include removal of the existing system, roof positioning, plumbing alterations, applicable valves and reconnection of the selected booster arrangement.

Compliance & Commissioning

The installed system is connected, tested and commissioned for correct operation, including hot and cold water connections, safety components, thermosiphon operation and the selected electric or gas booster.

Possible Additional Work

Difficult roof access, specialised lifting, structural work, relocation, extended pipe runs, gas alterations, electrical upgrades, non-standard mounting or significant changes from the existing installation can require additional work or quotation.

How Much Does Envirosun TS300/60 Installation Cost?

Current Envirosun TS300/60 supplied-and-installed pricing is shown in the live product and installation selector above. This keeps the price aligned with current product costs, selected booster configuration and installation package rather than hard-coding a figure into long-form content.

Final installation cost depends on roof height, safe access, lifting requirements, replacement type, plumbing, valves, electric or gas booster requirements, relocation and any structural or mounting work required by the property.

A like-for-like replacement of an existing compatible roof-mounted thermosiphon system can be more straightforward than converting a ground-level electric tank, heat pump or active split solar system to the TS300/60 roof-mounted layout.

BRISBANE INSTALLATION

Envirosun TS300/60 Installation Brisbane

JR Gas & Water supplies and installs the Envirosun TS300/60 across eligible Brisbane service areas. For an existing rooftop solar replacement, JR can assess the roof position, available mounting area, plumbing and booster services to determine whether the TS300/60 can use the existing layout or whether alterations are required.

The three-collector configuration requires more roof area than a TS300/40, so available space is particularly important when upgrading from a smaller thermosiphon system. Safe lifting access also matters because the storage tank and complete solar array need to be positioned on the roof.

For Brisbane homes converting from ground-mounted electric storage, heat pump or split solar, the installation requires additional planning around roof access, water pipe routes and booster services. JR also services eligible surrounding areas including Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and Redlands.

GOLD COAST INSTALLATION

Envirosun TS300/60 Installation Gold Coast

Gold Coast TS300/60 installations need sufficient clear roof area for the three-collector thermosiphon system as well as practical access for positioning and future service work. Properties replacing a smaller solar system need particular attention to the additional collector footprint.

Where an existing roof-mounted solar system is being replaced, suitable pipework and service positions may sometimes be reused. If the system is being relocated or the property is changing from another hot water technology, additional plumbing and booster work may be necessary.

The TS300/60 makes the most sense where the property can genuinely use the larger collector array rather than simply selecting the model because it sits above the TS300/40 in the range.

Can the Envirosun TS300/60 Replace My Existing System?

Replacing Roof-Mounted Solar

This is generally the closest replacement situation, but the TS300/60's larger three-collector footprint means roof area, mounting points, plumbing, access and booster compatibility still need to be confirmed.

Replacing a TS300/40

The storage capacity remains 304L, but the TS300/60 adds a third collector. An upgrade therefore requires sufficient additional roof area rather than simply replacing the tank with a larger-capacity model.

Replacing Split Solar or Heat Pump

These systems normally keep the storage tank at ground level. Converting to the TS300/60 relocates storage onto the roof and can require substantial plumbing and installation changes.

Replacing Another Brand

The existing brand is less important than roof space, mounting suitability, plumbing, booster services and access. A comparable nominal tank size does not automatically mean the installation is like-for-like.

Which Envirosun TS300/60 Variant Do I Need?

Envirosun currently publishes both electric-boosted and gas-boosted TS300/60 systems. Both use 304L storage and a three-collector thermosiphon arrangement, but the backup heating method and service requirements differ.

Feature TS300/60Se TS300/60Sg
Storage Capacity 304L 304L
Solar Collector Quantity 3 3
Solar Operation Thermosiphon Thermosiphon
Boost Type Electric Gas
Electric Booster 2.4kW Not applicable
Electric Boost Capacity 140L Not applicable
Gas Boost Rate Not applicable Up to 26L/min
Gas Heat Output Not applicable 42kW
Best Suited To Properties suited to electric backup heating Properties with suitable gas supply and gas boosting requirements

The appropriate version should be chosen around the property's existing services and intended installation. Changing from electric to gas boost or vice versa can require additional service upgrades and should not be assumed to be part of a standard like-for-like replacement.

How Efficient Is the Envirosun TS300/60?

The TS300/60 is designed to use available solar energy as the primary source of water heating, with the electric or gas booster supplying additional heat when solar contribution does not meet household demand.

The third collector gives the TS300/60 more collector area than the TS300/40, but the actual reduction in booster use varies from property to property. Roof orientation, shading, weather, seasonal conditions, hot water consumption, inlet water temperature and booster operation all affect overall energy use.

The system is also eligible for STCs where the installation meets the applicable scheme requirements. Certificate quantities and values depend on installation date and location, so current pricing should be used rather than permanently publishing a fixed rebate value.

TS300/60 vs TS300/40 Solar Hot Water

Feature TS300/40Se TS300/60Se
Nominal Storage 304L 304L
Collector Quantity 2 3
Collector Model E20HS E20HS
System Footprint 2,238 × 2,600mm 3,260 × 2,600mm
System Empty Mass 129kg 144kg
System Full Mass 437kg 453kg
Boost Capacity 140L 140L
Electric Booster 2.4kW 2.4kW
Main Difference Smaller two-collector array Larger three-collector array

The TS300/60 is not a larger-storage system than the TS300/40. Both provide 304L nominal storage. The key difference is the third collector and the larger roof footprint. That makes roof area and the value of additional solar collection the main reasons to choose between the two.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Yes. TS300/60 installation is available across eligible Gold Coast service areas subject to suitable roof space, mounting conditions, access and services.

Is the Envirosun TS300/60 a 300L system?

The model belongs to the TS300 family, but Envirosun's current specification lists its nominal storage capacity as 304L.

How many solar collectors does the TS300/60 use?

The current electric-boosted TS300/60Se uses three E20HS flat-plate collectors. The three-collector arrangement is the main physical difference from the TS300/40Se.

Does the TS300/60 need a circulation pump?

No active circulation pump is required for normal solar operation. The system uses natural thermosiphon circulation between the roof-mounted collectors and storage tank.

What is the difference between the TS300/60 and THX300/40?

The TS300/60 is an open-circuit thermosiphon system with three collectors. The THX300/40 uses two collectors and an indirect closed solar circuit designed to provide greater freeze and collector-fouling protection.

Can the TS300/60 replace another brand of solar system?

Potentially, yes. The important checks are roof area, system footprint, mounting conditions, access, plumbing and booster compatibility rather than brand alone.

Can I upgrade from a TS300/40 to a TS300/60?

Potentially, but additional roof area is required for the third collector. Both models have the same 304L storage capacity, so the upgrade is primarily about collector area rather than tank size.

Can I choose electric or gas boosting?

Envirosun publishes both electric and gas-boosted TS300/60 configurations. The appropriate version depends on the property's available services and installation requirements.

Can the TS300/60 replace a heat pump or ground-mounted electric system?

It can where the property is suitable, but the conversion is more involved because the TS300/60 tank and collectors must be installed on the roof and connected to the existing water and booster services.

What happens if my roof does not have enough space for three collectors?

A smaller collector configuration such as the TS300/40, an active split solar system or another hot water technology may be more suitable. JR should confirm the available roof area before the TS300/60 is selected.

Where the property fits the available online installation conditions, choose the appropriate package through the live product selector above. More complex replacements, relocations and technology conversions can follow JR's quote pathway.

Solar hot water systems are an efficient and environmentally friendly way to heat your water, using energy from the sun to reduce electricity or gas consumption. To continue operating efficiently and reliably, they require regular maintenance and servicing.

Like any hot water system, manufacturers recommend routine maintenance to maximise system performance, protect key components and support your manufacturer's warranty.

Homeowner Maintenance – Every 6 Months

Every six months we recommend carrying out a simple visual inspection of your solar hot water system.

Homeowners should:

  • Carefully operate the Pressure & Temperature Relief (PTR) Valve.
  • Operate the Expansion Control Valve (ECV) (where fitted).
  • Check for water leaks around the storage tank and pipework.
  • Inspect visible solar pipe insulation for deterioration.
  • Ensure solar collectors are free from excessive dirt, leaves and debris where safely accessible.
  • Check for signs of corrosion or rust.
  • Listen for unusual noises from the system or circulating pump (where fitted).

Why is this important?

Regular operation of the PTR and ECV valves helps prevent mineral build-up that can cause the valves to seize or leak.

Keeping collectors and surrounding components clean allows the solar system to operate as efficiently as possible, while early detection of leaks or damaged insulation can prevent larger problems from developing.

Important: Always follow your manufacturer's instructions when operating safety valves, as hot water will discharge during testing. Do not climb onto your roof to inspect or clean collectors. If you're unsure, contact a licensed plumber.

Recommended 5-Year Major Service

Current Price: $449

Most solar storage hot water systems benefit from scheduled replacement of key components to maintain reliable performance and extend the life of the storage tank.

Our comprehensive 5-Year Service includes:

  • Replacement of the sacrificial anode (where fitted).
  • Replacement of the Pressure & Temperature Relief (PTR) Valve.
  • Replacement of the Expansion Control Valve (ECV).
  • Inspection of the solar collectors.
  • Inspection of solar pipework and insulation.
  • Inspection of circulating pump and controller (where fitted).
  • Inspection of booster operation.
  • Full operational testing.
  • Leak and corrosion inspection.

Why These Components Matter

Sacrificial Anode

Most vitreous enamel-lined solar storage tanks contain a sacrificial anode.

The anode gradually corrodes instead of the steel storage tank, protecting it from internal rust. Once the anode has been consumed, the tank itself begins to corrode, which can eventually lead to leaks and tank failure.

Replacing the anode at the recommended interval is one of the best ways to extend the life of your hot water system.

Pressure & Temperature Relief (PTR) Valve

The PTR valve protects the storage tank by safely relieving excessive pressure and temperature.

Mineral deposits and normal wear can prevent the valve from operating correctly over time, making routine testing and replacement essential.

Expansion Control Valve (ECV)

Where fitted, the ECV controls pressure created as water expands during heating.

Maintaining the ECV helps reduce stress on the storage tank and plumbing system, contributing to a longer service life.

Solar Collectors & Pipework

Solar collectors capture the sun's energy to heat water, while insulated pipework transfers that heat to the storage tank.

Keeping collectors unobstructed and ensuring pipe insulation remains in good condition helps:

  • Maximise solar efficiency.
  • Reduce reliance on electric or gas boosting.
  • Lower energy costs.
  • Improve overall system performance.

If Your Hot Water System Isn't Working

Before arranging a service, check the following:

  • Ensure power is switched on (for electric boosted systems).
  • Confirm the gas supply is on (for gas boosted systems).
  • Check circuit breakers and safety switches where applicable.
  • Verify the booster has not been turned off.
  • Inspect for visible water leaks.
  • Ensure exposed solar pipe insulation has not been damaged.
  • Check for controller fault codes (where fitted).
  • Listen for unusual noises from the circulating pump (where fitted).
  • Remember that several cloudy days may reduce solar heating, causing the booster to operate more frequently.

If your system is still not producing adequate hot water, contact JR Gas & Water for professional diagnosis and repair.

General Signs Your System May Need Attention

Arrange a service if you notice:

  • Reduced hot water availability.
  • Booster operating more frequently than usual.
  • Water leaking from the tank or pipework.
  • Constant dripping from relief valves.
  • Visible corrosion.
  • Damaged or deteriorated pipe insulation.
  • Pump noise or failure (where fitted).
  • Controller fault codes.
  • Rust-coloured or dirty water.
  • Unusual noises during operation.

Early servicing can often prevent more expensive repairs and extend the life of your solar hot water system.

Protect Your Warranty & Maximise System Life

Routine maintenance helps ensure your solar hot water system continues operating safely, efficiently and reliably.

Following the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule may also assist in maintaining warranty coverage.

Failure to maintain your system may result in:

  • Premature tank corrosion.
  • Reduced solar efficiency.
  • Higher electricity or gas consumption.
  • Leaking or seized safety valves.
  • Unexpected loss of hot water.
  • Shortened system lifespan.
  • Possible reduction or loss of manufacturer warranty, depending on the manufacturer's maintenance requirements.

Preventative maintenance is one of the best ways to protect your investment, reduce operating costs and maximise the life of your solar hot water system.

Please note: Maintenance requirements vary between manufacturers and models. Always refer to your owner's manual for the maintenance schedule applicable to your solar hot water system. JR Gas & Water services all major solar hot water brands in accordance with manufacturer recommendations where applicable.
