Choosing the right electric hot water system package depends on your installation needs, household size, and whether additional electrical work is required. Use this guide to compare package levels and find the best fit for your home.
Selecting the right package helps streamline installation, but we understand that needs may change, and that the purchaser isn’t a plumber. We’re flexible and can make adjustments, such as upgrading to the next package as needed.

✅ Base – For compliant replacements of Existing Identical Compliant EXTERNAL installations
Ideal for identical exact swaps of the same electrical hot water system where the existing system meets legal compliance requirements. (example below) No extra plumbing, valves, pipework, support base, electrical work or disposal required or included.
(EXAMPLE - A Rheem 250L 491250 replacing complaint Rheem 250L 491250 not a Rheem 250L 101250)
✅ Silver – For minor upgrades to an existing electric hot water system under 10 years old.
Includes minor pipework alterations and a valve kit but does not include electrical modifications, support base or system disposal. Designed for those swapping a similar electric system and working to a tight budget.
(EXAMPLE - Swapping an 8year old Rheem 160L with a new Rinnai 315L where the existing installation is compliant but requires pipework alterations to adapt the new unit and new valve set for warranty)
🏆 Gold (Best Seller) – For standard electric replacement installations
Covers a new valve set, old system removal, expansion drain lines, support base and plumbing modifications, making it the most common choice for standard installations.
(EXAMPLE - Swapping a 20year old Dux 125L with a new Vulcan 315L, Strip all down and redo the valves, pipework, drain lines, support base and dispose of the old unit)
💰 Sapphire (Best Value) – For installations requiring minor electrical work
Adds electrical safety features like an isolator, safety switch, and cable extensions to our gold package to ensure a compliant and safe electrical connection.
(EXAMPLE - Swapping an old heat pump/split solar system with a new Everhot 400L that requires a hardwired electrical connection, then strip all down and redo the valves, pipework, drain lines, support base and dispose of the old unit)
✅ Diamond – For homes needing extensive electrical work
Provides extra plumbing and electrical modifications, including a new electrical circuit on top of our gold package making it ideal for homes without existing wiring for an electric system.
(EXAMPLE - Swapping an old Gas System with a new Rheem 315L that needs its own dedicated electrical circuit, type then strip all down and redo the valves, pipework, drain lines, support base and dispose of the old unit)
✅ Platinum – The ultimate package
Includes everything – system relocation, extensive plumbing, valve set, support base, drain lines, disposal, electrical upgrades, and a new electrical circuit for complete installation flexibility.
(EXAMPLE - Replacing any existing system of any type then relocating it to a new position on the house that requires the electrical/plumbing to be installed or relocated to the new installation position)

Online Hot Water System Packages – Important Information
Our online packages cover an external (outside building lines - for internal installations please complete our quote request form) replacement of an existing hot water system. Installation fees do not include:
- Relocation of the system (only included in Platinum Package)
- Upgrades required to meet current standards for non-compliant installs (only included in Gold, Sapphire, Diamond & Platinum Packages)
- Electrical supply alterations beyond a standard disconnect/reconnect (included in Sapphire, Diamond & Platinum Packages)
- Additional work due to insufficient gas, water, or power supply (included in Platinum Packages)
- Repairs or modifications outside of the hot water system

Installation Requirements
Electrical Hot Water Systems:
- Must be installed perpendicular to the wall with the electrical connection positioned front and center, unless a package including electrical alterations is purchased.
Access Requirements:
- A two-person installation ($200 fee) is required and must be pre-organised if access involves any of the following: Stairs, via house internals, via a ladder (excluding platinum package relocations), through gardens, over retaining walls, on roofs, in ceilings, through gravel, swampy land or through passages narrower than 1m exc standard yard gates.
- The new and existing unit must be able to be maneuvered via a trolley into/out of position without lifting.
- If any access restrictions apply, written confirmation from JR Gas & Water is required to proceed.
